Look at 00:41... The angle of the sun is so low, it doesn't have to be a very deep crater to make the interior dark (see the small crater in the upper right of it, almost the same).

No, it's a crater and the low sun does not illuminate it's interior... the larger 'hole' is just a deeper crater than its neighbors. Shouldn't call it a hole unless you back it up with radar data which normally is used to help map the surface.

Look up "Cave of Swallows", for one. Or "pit cave" in general. Also, sinkholes are a good representation of this as well. I believe they believe that some of these are ancient sinkholes. The reason Earth doesn't have as many long-lasting sinkholes is because we have such violent "weathering/erosion" (due to climate) compared to Mars, which mainly just has wind erosion as this point.
