Good job..the only problem I had with it is it's played just to be played. Feel it. Slow it down a little. It's a beautiful song and the justice has to be brought and the song well respected. But well done.
Well played , but do not make it rush, take your time, put your feeling into the sung and let it flow, do not think about the end, enjoy and take the sung stap by stap.
I wouldn't call it a poor attempt. I think you nailed it. Just a suggestion, work on timing. Tap your foot along with the original and keep that timing. It'll feel a lot better. Good job. I'll be stealing your licks. ;-) THanks.
@martinaxman Thanks for watching and for the helpful suggestion! I'm thinking of redoing it on my classical guitar but I should take your advice and practice along to the Don McClean version or something first haha. Cheers!
@singinginachurch Hi thanks for the kind words! I do have the tablature for it but you will need to download a program called TEFView to see the file since it's a special format. If you do that I can e-mail it to you. Cheers, thanks again!
@60sguitardude Thanks very much for the kinds words! I might be putting up an acoustic version of it soon...trying to iron out some kinks in the performance though. Cheers!
You did a NICE JOB! You should slow it down a little though. Its a ballad about a wonderful artist that walked into a field and put a gun to his head because no one appreciated nhim in his lifetime. Remember the topic of the song and play it like it means something to you. (it will mean something to everyone else that hears it when you do) Again,Nice job! :)
@lwv6966 Haha, will do. You're totally correct that it's a bit rushed. If I end up doing a remake it'll be on a classical guitar and definitely done at a slower pace while I try to feel the music more =) Thanks for watching and commenting!
I will echo what has been said. You did great with the music, but i appreciate the fact that you seem to have a great attitude toward the commenters as well as your music. Thanks for the entertainment!
great work man, thanks so much for this. i think the electric finger style could be much rich than usual pick style. of course it's harder to play but the finest artist can do anyway. please could you help me im looking for albums in this electric fingerstyle, chet atkins or others
@Manyute Hmm to be honest I don't really know a lot of artists that do finger picking on an electric. Jeff Beck actually plays with his fingers but I don't think that's the same sort of vibe as this tune. Perhaps John McLaughlin, and actually the Damnation album by Opeth has a lot of really cool fingerpicking songs...also their songs Benighted and Face Of Melinda from Still Life.
Deadnightshinobi: a "poor attempt at playing" this song ?? Your modesty is far exceeded by your talent. I'm a rank guitarist, but I know how hard it is to do what you did on this video. Very, very difficult. Superb.
That was BEAUTIFUL! I'm totally envious of your talent. Plus you funked it up with the harmonics. When I see something like this I realize, as Alice Cooper said,"I Still Gotta Long Way To Go"! I'll be looking for more of your videos Slinger!
I hate people always telling people how they should do things on the internet. You learn a piece of music and play it with your own feel, same shit with any artist. Everybody telling you you need to slow down and this that and the third, tell em eat a dick cuz you doin your mothafuckin thing kid, mad props.
I've seen a few of your videos, and you're a great guitarist. However, one thing I notice is that if you'd just be more rigidly in conformity with the beat, you'd be amazing. In more complex passages, for instance, you slow down.
Hehe, thanks for the critique. I'm sure this has happened a few times but I wasn't aware it was quite so obvious. Feel free to point out specific examples so I can rectify later on!
For instance, at the very beginning, it kind of goes "starry starry... night"--the pause happens as you prepare to go into the slide. And then, there's a slight pause right before the second slide. And then, after "paint your palette blue and gray," you rush the 16th notes, beyond normal musical phrasing. But I'm nitpicking, great guitar playing. One thing that helps me is keeping "ONE-2-3-4 TWO-2-3-4 THREE-2-3-4 FOUR-2-3-4" running in my head at all times.
Ahh...I see what you mean. Actually now that I checked out the original video again (search "Chet Atkins Vincent" and it's the one that's just titled Chet Atkins) I actually think my rendition isn't "far out" enough hahaha. But you're right, it's always good to keep your internal metronome steady. Cheers ^_^
to chet fan.dont knock yourself, your version was excellent, most players couuld not play it half as good,so there.try and do it on clasical, also what tuning did you use, thanks again for your great version
I will definitely try stringing up my classical and playing it. The tuning is low to high: DGDGBE (tune the two lowest strings down one step). Thanks for watching!
damn dude you did a good job i thought, would sound tons better with a little more reverb and delay. or even on an acoustic liek that dude below me said lol.
there was and only will be one chet atkins though lol.
Chet was indeed one of a kind. You're probably right with the delay/reverb, but I was feeling too lazy to walk over to the amp haha. I think acoustic is the way to go. ^_^
Cheers! Haha, yeah I cheated by doing it on electric...I'll hopefully find the motivation/time to restring my classical guitar soon. Thanks for the comment.
damn your vewtiful finger picking, other than standard theory and sweeps its the only thing you got on me lol. good job keeping your chords steady tho, this aint as poor as you think bro.lol keep it up.

All you have to do is tune down two strings??? If this is true I will deffinately learn. I don't mind tuning two strings down.
