when i saw the lion trying to claw her way out of the chained fence i started crying.. i love these cats with a passion, actually i love ALL animals with a passion but i believe as for being a guardian ( i dont believe in owning them, they are not property) the limit ends with domestic animals. its just like canada who support seal hunting, why just why.. goverment seriously have no heart, they have the power but dont use it properly!
So what are the chances of a domesticated tiger, lion, exotic cat of some sort turning on their "owners?" I mean, this may sound pretty terrible, but I bet if it happened more often, people would be less inclined to domesticate a wild cat. Or does it happen often and people still do it anyways?
@SMALegacy05 It happens more often than people know, you'd think that the government would do something about the laws regarding private ownership of these wild dangerous animals when people lose their lives, but progress in banning the ownership is painfully slow.

I thought from the video that they were in a small area. I think we as a nation need to stop Poching and miss treatment of any wild animal. The punishment should be the same you give the animal. sad lion trapped in cages :( but also fuck the hunters that hunt them in the wild .. they have no place to go ... when lion or other cats go to a cage they feel like they are in a prison and when we go to jail we also feel bad the big cats also feel that way you know
@roxas666777 Yes, we have rescued many cats since this video was made and can provide them with a permanent home because of donations, we have also made a difference in laws that we have helped change etc...
The sad thing is even though white and golden tigers look gorgeous they actually shouldnt exist since they get their colors from severe inbreeding :( its just terrible
Legislation is needed, better laws, it needs to be a joint effort with all these countries these beautiful cats reside in to monitor poaching, put punishment as a consequence and keep these big cats safe. Actually these poachers should just be shot themselves forget jail time. Thank you for what you do HUGS.
Dear BigCatRescue, I am a dancer at the University of Calgary and am looking for movement that captures the essence of an animal. One of my submissions that I am working on for Dance Montage, a dance show held anually at the U of C, is called "Big Cat Rythmn" a mix of Jazz music in which I try to mimic the movements of three large cats; a lion, a tiger, and a panther. My question is: can i use your videos and any media you have for dance research? thanks
A friend told be a funny story about an ex house thief she know. He entered a house one night keeping an eye our for "domestic kitties with his flashlight (sneak up on you, step on them, they scream) when his flashlight passed over the couch, and to his horror there sat a full grown cougar "pet". He never got out of a house that fast, and he never robbed again. Statue of limitation is up so now he tells this story. He now "works a real job for a living".
Awww, the one in the basement that was lookin out the window looked sad :'(. If anything.. wait.abuse??... Who the hell is brave enough to try and abuse a Tiger? Mike tyson?... But still,i like what yall are doing. ;D keep it up!
yea...sure. I bet you would love cleaning out a bed sized litter box, and spending 5 grand a year on the proper meat and diet too. Forget about vet care and insurance costs. If you want a wild cat trap a wild stray, let loose in house, and let the fun begin. Give it a year (plus spay/neuter) and they will eventually grow on you. I least you wont have to claim a dog bit your hand. Yea, could get a few infections, but smaller then what you would get from a Tiger!
I know Animal Planet has shown some of the results of big cat and exotic animal ownership on "Fatal Attractions," but they haven't made people aware of rescues like yours. Have you approached Animal Planet on this subject? Surely, if more people were aware that good rescues existed, they'd be willing to help.
Hey Big Cat Rescue, I'm making a video that shows cruelty to big cats & was wondering if I could use a few clips from some of your videos. It's up to you whether you can allow me or not, but I was just wondering :)
Hey Big Cat Rescue, Im making a video that shows cruelty to big cats & was wondering if I could use a few clips from some of your videos. It's up to you whether you can allow me or not, but I was just wondering :)
Big Cat Rescue, I have a question for you. Why do only 18 U.S. States have laws prohibiting big cat ownership? It truly makes no sense to me to allow the 32 remaining states to allow private ownership. Why aren't more people enraged about this, as I am? The video is almost too heartbreaking to watch...you can see the sadness in most of the cats eyes.
@TheLongAndWindingRd This is what we ask ourselves everyday and what we petition for, things progress slowly in this arena, but the more public who contact state representatives and complain/voice their concern the better. You can help us by visiting CatLaws*com :)
@BigCatRescue - Thanks BCR, I DO regularly visit your website & sign as many petitions & contact as many state reps as I can. I guess what bothers me the most is that there are many people, for example here on youtube, that showcase their *pets*...as in lions & tigers, etc. and that infuriates me...& when I do post & try to explain that they are only adding to the problem, I am often told to f*** off & shut up....it's disheartening at times, but I won't give up. The cats need our voice.
@TheLongAndWindingRd Thanks for your help, I know what you mean these cats will never make good "pets" but selfish, ignorant people still seem to think so :(
i luv what u guys are doing with these fantastic creatures, trying to save them and all of that but....on tv a wise man said he would rather have big cats dead than living in captivity, i just can't standseeing them in a cage when you guys should release them..i mean wouldnt that be great?! but yeah ik ALOT of money if you do that. so i like what ur doing and i can't stand i can't stand it
@LocalLioness178 I feel like that sometimes, but then when you see what good care we provide our cats and how content they are I don't. Releasing cats into the wild is very rarely done and when it as been done in the past it's with smaller species in protected areas. None of our cats can be released they are not pure specimens inbred/cross bred, plus they associate people with food and are not afraid of people, they would become nuisance animals. :)
@LocalLioness178"he would rather have big cats dead than living in captivity" - This is wrong on so many levels..Even Chuck Norris couldn't count so far.So, imagine: all bigcats in captivity-dead. So what do you actually think what would happen to the species?Do you think that people would stop hunting them? No.They would die out and their genetic code and thus the species would be lost forever. If they are treated well, it is better to preserve them in captivity, than to let them vanish.
To a certain point yes, I fear in about 300(pessimist) to 500(optimist) years all carnivores over 50 pounds and all herbivores over 150 pounds will be extinct in the wild due to us humans. Unless nature sends us a new black plague, it's inevitable.
Its a sad scary thought. So enjoy the large mammals while we got them.
We will not appreciate what we got, until it's gone. Forget resurrecting the mammoth, we need to take care of what we got!
@equarg I agree, especially the herbivores, BCR is taking care of FEEDING them all to the cats, How many herbivores have to die to save ONE cat????????? the math doesnt add up.
@xDaRkBeAsTxx Hi, Ligers will never exist in the wild they are a man made animal, they also suffer from many health defects and shouldn't be bred. Big Cat Rescue does not breed :)
I think its wrong to keep lions tigers etc. as pets, first of all its dangerous and second of all, depressing to the poor big kitties! (ok, your just making me want to see madagascar now "BAD KITTY!") I would not like it if I was taken from my home to live in a cage! my family bought out as pets! btw have you seen christian the lion?
@BigCatRescue me too! I wanna work there some day! but that will be a long time from now = P I will make a sand cat tribute soon! then maybe a lions and tigers tribute! I love cats all sizes! I have to go there some day!the only big cats I have seen are lions and tigers... durrrr! they are one of the biggest hits at the zoo near where I live! my brother likes bears better though...
@MrHomelessgnome We think so yes, these cats weren't meant to spend their lives living in backyards and homes, they are wild and dangerous. Many of our rescues are former "pets" that are no longer wanted once the owners realize what a big mistake they have made!
Prohibition of big cat ownership in America is not a viable solution, regulation through inspections, licensing, and fees are far more effective to saving wild cats. If people value them and can use them, then they preserve them. That is the story of the endangered white rhino and the American bison. This is also the success story to preserve cougars, ocelots, and sometimes jaguars in the United States. Prohibition causes black markets and more problems then it solves.
@BigCatRescue - I'm by no means an expert of any kind, but sometimes hybrid vigor works in positive and negative ways. Could their massive size cause joint and/or bone density problems? I'm only guessing by looking at how they move
Ps. I love your organization and your YouTube channel.
@hakkujin Hybrid vigor is completely made up theory by the people who breed ligers despite their health problems just to profit from them. Thanks for watching our videos! :)
these r such beautiful animals! ill help to save them along w/ the other animals of the world! i will also help by becoming an intern at Big Cat Rescue when im outta college....i just love big cats theyre my fav! HELP SAVE THEM!
@nickigw94 Is it because you are too young to volunteer in the shelters? Spreading the word about BCR is a grr-eat way to help the cats, facebook etc... Plus if you visit CatLaws.com you can find out how to help and send letters to state representatives regarding laws etc...
@BigCatRescue i am too young it seems. i just dont understand how someone can be too young to help...
i spread the word every day. i follow you on facebook and have updates and post videos
=]
you guys are amazing at what you do. i hope can help make even a little bit of a difference, more than the one or two little things i do about just talking about it.
i love how you guys keep frekles instead of killing her although the liger was never meant to exist somthing good came out of it and it dosent seem like frekels is much different from the other cats
i love how you guys keep frekles instead of killing her although the liger was never meant to exist somthing good came out of it and it dosent seem like frekels is much different from the other cats
That's awful. If people can't commit to taking proper care of them (or don't want to), they shouldn't have them. I say the same thing about people and children.
@ThePizzleFizzle Well we believe that this is still wrong, they are WILD animals and no matter what you do or provide for them it will NEVER be OK to own these animals. We are not affiliated with any other rescues, we have high standards and many so called "sanctuaries" still breed, exploit and allow contact with their cats, this is something we don't do.
@MoeMoeGel We're not sure, she's a old girl (16) we rescued her in december 2008 and her teeth were like it then, she maybe tried to get out of an enclosure in the past and broke them off etc.. We have since done dental work on Freckles to makes sure she isn't in any pain :)
@BigCatRescue ohh thts good :) u guys r doing a great job taking care of these precious, magnificent animals & i fully support wat ur doingg! its really inspiring!!

@BigCatRescue I think that big cats may be pets IF the owner is watched and trained how to take care of big cats but also has the right environment/space for these majestic animals and i be leave that should go for any exotic animal. I also have two questions. how did you get your education on big cats and do you have inter nation stations because i would like to help but i live in Canada.

That's one of our leopards, Sundari. All of our cats have been rescued from various bad situations, we have saved their lives and provide them with a permanent home. We also offer guided tours of the sanctuary so we can educate the public about the problems these cats are facing in captivity and in the wild :)
a that is still my point their still locked up in cages, why not just send them back to the wild? i bet u their gonna be happier there than in a cage were they become lazy and having people staring at them all the time..
We know they're still in cages and we wish we didn't have to exist and have 130 wildcats living here, but we do. Unfortunately wild cats cannot be released back into the wild, what we need to do is preserve habitat for the cats already in the wild and solve the problem that way :)
Yes it's legal in over half of the USA to own a big cat, we are doing our best to end this abuse, if you would like to help please visit CatLaws*com and write to your state representatives - THANKS!
What do you think about people keeping them as pets? Here in Switzerland the law is kinda strict in this case - it's only for people with special education & job. In my opinion it's wrong to hold them as "pets", on the other hand it's sad reality that my favorite animals get abused by some idiots - My guess is they wouldn't be ready for the wild again. So is it wrong to assume that an already tame animal needs a "loving home" after such bad treatment? I'm really confused about that.
We are 100% against people owning these animals as "pets" although it is legal in over half of the united states. We are doing our best to try and get these laws changed to help end the abuse that so many big cats suffer when being kept as so called "pets"
So...why can BCR keep animals in cages but thinks no one else should be able to? Seems a bit hypocritical. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to build an outdoor enclosure like the ones BCR have. A private citizen can do the same thing. So why not allow private citizens to own them if they care for them like BCR does?
We only care for cats that have been rescued, many were "pets" and then people soon realized what a HUGE mistake they had made and abandon them. You have to draw the line somewhere and keeping these cats as so called "pets" is abuse and it as to stop! :)
i have a solution, i say that people who are caught abusing exotics or ANY animal for that matter should be FED to the tigers!!! bastards! every time i see these videos i make a point to donate at least a dollar to some sort of wildlife/animal rescue group. DON'T JUST CRY FOR THEM PEOPLE, JOIN THE FIGHT!
No, they should not be killed, at least not right away. They should be tortured and left starving in small, smelling cages like many of those animals.
Honestly? Feeding animal abusers to the animals is not the correct form to saving the animals. I am sure there is something that you don't care about that someone else has a passion and love for. You can't expect everyone to have the same passion and love you have or if we did, this world would be a better place. Be more concerned about what "you" can do directly for these animals instead of pointing fingers.
Damn, that makes me so angry! There should be a law that says if anyone is found keeping a Big cat or any wild animal in a tiny enclosed cage THEY should be locked in a cage for the same amount of time the animal was locked in... Sometimes Tough laws are needed... JUSTICE PEOPLE!
I'm so happy people like you exist, if you didn't, the bastards that hunt these animals and all other cruel shit in the world would just run free. Best of luck with it all
my fav animal is lion and i heard that liger's dont live very very long, that they produce cancer, blind desease or some thing poor animals it is very cruel!!!
P.S
my answer to lion's vs tiger's is lion ownes tigers
=( I wish I could donate, but I'm only 19, and I don't have any money. Poor guys, there should be more out there about not having them as pets, like adds on the web or something.
We get that question a lot! It all depends on the individual cat etc... but I'd go with the lion, they have the mane that protects their throat and are used to fighting to take over/protect their pride. We have a liger - Freckles (female)
Thanks BCR for having a great society i wish i can donate more Good luck and try to show the government your society so they can bring those cats to BCR
Do you have any idea about the percentage of privately owned big cats that are abused? Given that the wild ones are in so much danger from poachers, I think the crime is failing to take care of the cat properly for its entire life, not in private ownership per se. I hate to see them abused, but that habitat ain't coming back, not with the human overpopulation problem and tiger parts trade. Since you rescue abused cats, that is mainly what you see, abused cats? And no, I don't want to own one.
Thats sad. Watch my videos

My question is: can i use your videos and any media you have for dance research? thanks

It would be funny if you went into a house to try and rob it and there was fricking tiger in the living room.Still it should be banned.

@123cmcc123

@funayyshiz

TheLongAndWindingRd 1 year ago
@TheLongAndWindingRd This is what we ask ourselves everyday and what we petition for, things progress slowly in this arena, but the more public who contact state representatives and complain/voice their concern the better. You can help us by visiting CatLaws*com :)
BigCatRescue 1 year ago
@BigCatRescue - Thanks BCR, I DO regularly visit your website & sign as many petitions & contact as many state reps as I can. I guess what bothers me the most is that there are many people, for example here on youtube, that showcase their *pets*...as in lions & tigers, etc. and that infuriates me...& when I do post & try to explain that they are only adding to the problem, I am often told to f*** off & shut up....it's disheartening at times, but I won't give up. The cats need our voice.
TheLongAndWindingRd 1 year ago
@TheLongAndWindingRd Thanks for your help, I know what you mean these cats will never make good "pets" but selfish, ignorant people still seem to think so :(

i luv what u guys are doing with these fantastic creatures, trying to save them and all of that but....on tv a wise man said he would rather have big cats dead than living in captivity, i just can't standseeing them in a cage when you guys should release them..i mean wouldnt that be great?! but yeah ik ALOT of money if you do that. so i like what ur doing and i can't stand i can't stand it
LocalLioness178 1 year ago
@LocalLioness178 I feel like that sometimes, but then when you see what good care we provide our cats and how content they are I don't. Releasing cats into the wild is very rarely done and when it as been done in the past it's with smaller species in protected areas. None of our cats can be released they are not pure specimens inbred/cross bred, plus they associate people with food and are not afraid of people, they would become nuisance animals. :)
BigCatRescue 1 year ago
@LocalLioness178"he would rather have big cats dead than living in captivity" - This is wrong on so many levels..Even Chuck Norris couldn't count so far.So, imagine: all bigcats in captivity-dead. So what do you actually think what would happen to the species?Do you think that people would stop hunting them? No.They would die out and their genetic code and thus the species would be lost forever. If they are treated well, it is better to preserve them in captivity, than to let them vanish.

@Valvallaria
Forget resurrecting the mammoth, we need to take care of what we got!
equarg 1 year ago
@equarg I agree, especially the herbivores, BCR is taking care of FEEDING them all to the cats, How many herbivores have to die to save ONE cat????????? the math doesnt add up.

(ok, your just making me want to see madagascar now "BAD KITTY!") MrHomelessgnome 1 year ago

WordsInAction465 1 year ago
@WordsInAction465 Private ownership does nothing to save wild cats, they are bred in backyards and then live in backyards, totally unnecessary.

@BigCatRescue I think that big cats may be pets IF the owner is watched and trained how to take care of big cats but also has the right environment/space for these majestic animals and i be leave that should go for any exotic animal. harbok1 1 year ago
That's one of our leopards, Sundari. All of our cats have been rescued from various bad situations, we have saved their lives and provide them with a permanent home. We also offer guided tours of the sanctuary so we can educate the public about the problems these cats are facing in captivity and in the wild :)
BigCatRescue 1 year ago 2
a that is still my point their still locked up in cages, why not just send them back to the wild? i bet u their gonna be happier there than in a cage were they become lazy and having people staring at them all the time..
harbok1 1 year ago
We know they're still in cages and we wish we didn't have to exist and have 130 wildcats living here, but we do. Unfortunately wild cats cannot be released back into the wild, what we need to do is preserve habitat for the cats already in the wild and solve the problem that way :)

Yes it's legal in over half of the USA to own a big cat, we are doing our best to end this abuse, if you would like to help please visit CatLaws*com and write to your state representatives - THANKS!
BigCatRescue 1 year ago
What do you think about people keeping them as pets? Here in Switzerland the law is kinda strict in this case - it's only for people with special education & job. In my opinion it's wrong to hold them as "pets", on the other hand it's sad reality that my favorite animals get abused by some idiots - My guess is they wouldn't be ready for the wild again. So is it wrong to assume that an already tame animal needs a "loving home" after such bad treatment? I'm really confused about that.
Wodkahlicious 1 year ago
We are 100% against people owning these animals as "pets" although it is legal in over half of the united states. We are doing our best to try and get these laws changed to help end the abuse that so many big cats suffer when being kept as so called "pets"
BigCatRescue 1 year ago
So...why can BCR keep animals in cages but thinks no one else should be able to? Seems a bit hypocritical. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to build an outdoor enclosure like the ones BCR have. A private citizen can do the same thing. So why not allow private citizens to own them if they care for them like BCR does?
Fleefles 2 years ago
We only care for cats that have been rescued, many were "pets" and then people soon realized what a HUGE mistake they had made and abandon them. You have to draw the line somewhere and keeping these cats as so called "pets" is abuse and it as to stop! :)
BigCatRescue 1 year ago
Hi BCR...
congratulations for your work!

i have a solution, i say that people who are caught abusing exotics or ANY animal for that matter should be FED to the tigers!!! bastards! every time i see these videos i make a point to donate at least a dollar to some sort of wildlife/animal rescue group. DON'T JUST CRY FOR THEM PEOPLE, JOIN THE FIGHT!
redragonmeow 2 years ago
You honestly think a human should be killed for animal abuse? Go get some therapy.
Fleefles 2 years ago
No, they should not be killed, at least not right away. They should be tortured and left starving in small, smelling cages like many of those animals.
MrGyroGearloose 1 year ago
IWUSkittles 1 year ago
Damn, that makes me so angry! There should be a law that says if anyone is found keeping a Big cat or any wild animal in a tiny enclosed cage THEY should be locked in a cage for the same amount of time the animal was locked in... Sometimes Tough laws are needed... JUSTICE PEOPLE!
