are you trying to show the quality of the camera? it's a great camera but you can't edit or upload videos the way you do. use a better program, try to upload non-rendered video or just learn how to use you current program better because this is making the camera look bad.
If you export in a widescreen format and with over 640 px wide, it will come out right. For Standard Definition consumer camcorders export at 872x480 at 2500 kbps bitrate. It will come out great on youtube.
could i upload vids from this camera onto my computer one at a time, like not as 1 big video and then edit them in sony vegas? i currently use a canon digi. cam. with video mode, and i'm looking to get this camcorder
wow ur dogs are cute!!!...but i just got the same camera but i cant figure out how to edit it....like how do u put different scences together to get a full video?..if you could reply that would be AWSOME!!..ok thanks bu bi:)
jubydoobe It shoots .mod and you would need to buy Adobe Premiere Elements 7 to deal with this kind of avchd file. That goes for all camcorders that use avchd ok. :) David and Charmaine
jubydoobe yes it shoots mpeg-2 with ac3 which is the .mod file with Elements 7 you use it to if you like edit and process which you can export to wmv avi or anything else supported by WMM for further editing with it or another program! :) David and Charmaine
I bought the fs 100 canon and it is great but I'have a little problem when it is to record in 16:9 the video coming out is not 16:9 at all people look tall ant thin how did you get to use 16:9 with this camcorder and the dogs look in right not tall and thin let me know I need to know
hey i just this camera today..and its great...is this recorded in sp, lp, or xp??..just wondering and did u upload it straight to youtube?? or did u use a program?
it look ok for me, if u want to change to avcdh.. u must spend much more on the computer since it will be slow on edit in slow computer and not much software support AVCHD
It's true that movement is nearly death for images with this camera. The biting issue is that I've gotten better footage with the video feature in the A-series (540, 560) canon still digital cameras.
I'm going by what I read on the boards, many believe that 25mbps is in near future for flash format, (HV20 is 25mbps).Tape definitely looks better, it's just that they are going to discontinue that format soon and you're going to have to have a compatible MiniDV cam/deck in the future to retrieve your archive, vs. data from the flash. Plus you have to worry about tape heads wearing and the real-time capture thing. I think the HF100 looks great, it's just doesn't match the HV20. contd next post
The FS100 is an fantastic camera. I wished they could have came up with this tech over 4 years ago before I bought my Panasonic AG DVX100A. SDHC is great. No dropouts like tape. I compared my AG DVX100A footage to my Canon FS100 footage and the FS100 looks way better. Tape does not look better than SDHC base recording. It's all in the way you compose and shoot a scene. The FS100 has so much detail, it looks like HD without being HD. It's the chip Canon put in that camera. They are both 720x480
I agree, the high-def Canon HF100 has a superior picture quality, but if your final destination for the footage is frequently going to be YouTube; I don't think it's worth the extra $, time-consuming editing and pc upgrade for AVCHD.
This video here, if you move back back a little from the dogs and leave the FS100 still on a tripod and get them both in the shot and don't pan back and forth and don't zoom to follow the dogs, the quality of your videos will increase greatly.
Canon camcorders are good. I'm currently a fan of Panasonic, mainly for the fact that they have great optical zoom, up to 70x (or 78x).

how did you get the video to be full screen?
most hq videos on here(with the canon fs-100) have to be converted to 640x480 to be hq...

(don't know if other comment posted)... add "&fmt=18" (without quotes) to the end address of any YouTube video to have it play in HQ.
Good luck with your videos.

btw, I would always use the highest XP mode with this cam.
Hi def is awesome, but the truth is that the average viewer doesn't care.
Did you set your video to allow high quality, or was it just random by YouTube?
I know you can add that code onto any video to get high quality. It looks a lot better.

I replied to the HF100 comments, with some questions of my own, below.
I looked in the back end, and found something that seems to allow me to view higher quality video, but not to upload it.
Where should I look?

And while we're talking technical, what about the white blow-out you see in the spaniel's muzzle? POP goes the WhiteOut!
Probably tinkering with the white balance... but it's a hell of a pop.
On the sunny side, the camera does has a remarkable zoom, and is lovely small.

Do you have an HF100? How's that going?
liamscheff 3 years ago
No, but I'm getting it. I know there are much better cams especially high def.
I just don't like tapes and want to wait until Canon catches up with the HV20's quality on flash -- hopefully sometime next year.
I think the fs100 is workable even in some short film type thing, just for online. Not too long ago SD cams were completely acceptable for that.
Movement is bad all around even with the Canon HF100. The dog getting white could have been from the a cloud exposing the sun or something.
NewbToob 3 years ago
I meant I'm getting an fs100, not HF100.
NewbToob 3 years ago
Interesting observations, and appreciated.
So, you think the HF100 is not up to the HV20/30 level? You like tape over flash/hard drive.
I've been shooting on tape, and where it lacks detail, it retains a fullness, and smoothness.
But who can be bothered? Flash memory or magnetic tapes? Come on, we're spoiled and lazy. Flash memory, of course.
What do you see in the future, in Canon's future, I mean, if not the HF100? (con't)
