Natural selection is obvious from tautological logic (the prey you catch is more often easier to catch than what you fail to catch) thus we only need one thing further to have evolution and that is mutations. If mutations didn't occur there would be no evolution and the whole ecosystem would break apart when a few species got extinct making all species fall like domino bricks. Ecosystems do fail like that, but without evolution, they would never stabilize again. Thank God for evolution!
