Great tip. It really help me to point the end of the club to the outside of the ball to keep my back swing in a good position. Thanks for sharing it...
@koberocksaa Yah, im in the same boat as you, I just made my shaft angle a bit more vertical than it was- getting the butt end of the club to point more between my toes and the ball rather than outside of the ball
You were talking about "position 2" with the left arm being parallel with the ground. That would actually be position 3. Pos 1 is address, p2 is the shaft being parallel with the ground, with 3 making the left arm being parallel.

@masla02 Nope, you're wrong, I tried. Well, you don't need to be a dynamic person, to do it. It's static and it don't requires special fisical abilities.
Dear Derek. Thank you so much for your both backswing videos. They gave me a lot of for my game improvement. Especially the takeaway movement on this video is very good and simple explained: "Move the hand straight back towards to the camera.". Thats it!
can someone help: With the backswing i try to keep my right armpit tight (im right handed) i can do that, but i never been told if the elbow on the right arm should stick out like a chicken wing or if it should also be tight, almost parallel to the club. Hopefully you understand what i mean and i would be grateful for any advice of any kind. Thanks.
Swing plane is too far outside the ball... Should be between your feet and the ball. The high handicapper can't get the club head back on plane once it's layed off so far.
@imarketingprofessor what you are saying here is a bit old fashioned nowadays. If you look at today's top players the club shaft either points at the ball or in the case of Tiger Woods and Adam Scott for example the club shaft points 'outside' the ball which is exaclty what this guy is saying on this video.
I found this video last evening, and although there's nothing new, it did crystallize the take-away for me. I couldn't wait to hit the range at lunch and the results were terrific. Thanks for sharing.
Great video the course looks really nice to. I would try and set the club back on position two with the shaft pointing down between the ball and your feet like many of the worlds best do.
with a back swing that points toward your target line the tendency will be to put to much fade spin on the ball. I like to have the handle of the club pointed a hair inside the target line.
at first position clubface should be tilted towards ball. i call it 11 o clock ( if you look at the clubface).if it was vertical it would be an open clubface.we are not standing up straight but tilted towards the ball.
conapart3 couldn't be more wrong at the end of move1 here is where the clube would at that point in time it would continue to hinge and eventually get to the top by not so early. the only thing is this video that I don't like is he has a flying right elbow. This IMHO is because in move 2 he pretty much just bent his right arm. If he added a little elevation prior and bent right arm later he would in perfect postion
This guys worst shot is better than Conopart3 best shot of his life. He works at one of the premier facilities in AZ and im sure thats no accident. He is exactly right. A flat left wrist is what the ideal postion is but slightly cupped is ok to,
At the first position, hands at 7.30 o'clock, the club is not supposed to be tilted slightly towards the ball. This is closed clubface. It should be vertical. At 9 o'clock the club should be pointing at the ball. His wrists are flat at the top of the backswing.
If the club is vertical at your 7.30 o'clock, I consider that as slightly open club face. It means that you used your excessive wrist in the early stage of the swing. I know that there are golfers who consider vertical-club face is correct but I agree with the guy in the video
@Conapart3 : Wow. closed club face?? I think not. his club face is in an almost perfect position. Club face at 7:30 should match the angle of your spine. anything more or less is either opened or closed.

This looks like a one plane backswing? Shouldn't the club go back on the shaft plane and then half way through transition to the shoulder plane?

I want to know the point and timing of the takeback to backswing.
I wonder if the takeback is not useful.
For what the takeback is ?
My friend talked me that you do not have to think about takeback.
I knew,she was wrong .

I hate it when they don't hit the ball at the end to see the finished product.

The right elbow should point down towards the ground at the top of the swing. Let your right arm pit "float" away from your body...

@dn85260 try telling that to Fred Couples

@fedorvanmegen You are correct. It is the slight spine tilt that makes the clubface appear closed when it reaches about hip level.
