I have a lot of points of injury in hip and back from spending hours and hours training people's horses from different saddles (saddles fitted for the horses' owners) I wish more of this was out there back when I did so much riding, when I complained about saddle discomfort, to not have to endure pain to keep my jobs10-15 years ago, it actually put me out of the saddle eventually even just for my own pleasure- and of course now finances.
Ah, but these machines are only of use, if these teaching methods are used with them. If the children are being taught in bad saddles and not to rise in the way I show on a later clip, the machines will sadly, not help. You can do something wrong 10.000 times, but it wont make it right. Only the right practise, makes perfect!!
ahaha we have these at my riding school!!! its a boarding school XD but only the 5-7 year olds use them because it is to help them get muscles for trotting with out stirrups and stuff :)
I ride 3 times a week and i have great leg position. I just dont have the time to ride my horse every day of the week. Horses always deserve a couple days off hahaa ;)
I think this is a great idea. Although i still think that riding a real horse will make you develop a great position.
I try not to get riders leaning in any direction as they are often collapsing a hip or tipping body forward and back at the best of times!! In the absence of the simulators, at a clinic for instance, I teach the 'feel' in a dismounted workshop, on the rider's own two feet! The simulators are best though, for sorting out any problems with the synchronisation, as being able to work hands on, really gives the rider the feel of what is required.
I think that this a safe and great idea, although, not meaning to sound disrespectful in any way shape or form, however I do understand how the students get a true understanding of how a horse feels when you move your legs in a certain way or when you lean in a certain direction.
