  • Does this sound sorta like a Crazy Horse track to anyone else?

Joe Walsh and the James Gang...they really kinda epitomize all the cool things about that late 60's/early 70's period of album-oriented RAWK. RIDES AGAIN is a total classic and THIRDS had this and "Walk Away". It seems like everyone had RIDES AGAIN on 8-track back then!

  • @smokeemonkee Crazy Horse... Yeah, maybe a little. Also hearing something vaguely Beatles-ish about it. Its not quite "Rain", and it's not quite "Nowhere Man", but it may be a distant cousin.

  • 3 people have no clue.

  • skibbs- Well spoken !

  • @yipeokia1 Thank you. I know in my heart you are right. Janis Ian, my female cousin turned me onto that song. It was a tad before our time, but we just stood there with our jaws open, like, OMG. She'd found the record in the cutout bins just a few years later, arrgh! I will say one thing for people of my area in the States and of my age, wow, did we like artists, not just music. Even if MIDNIGHT MAN is not quite "my style," its qualities are undeniable. IT SINGS.

  • I am from NE Ohio and now in France and have worked in the music industry for decades. When I play this band for most people, they totally don't get it. I just hear such perfection here. It doesn't matter if it's your style or message or whatever, I hear a throb here. A heartbeat. I've been all over the world and don't need to understand all that much to get it. This is pure gold. The production values are supreme. I guess I am a dinosaur. Whatever.

  • @CuteCatFaith - Cute cat- you arent a dinosaur - you are a person from a time where heart, class , and musical ability went hand in hand. Look at Janis Ian's ' 70s hit- At Seventeen- such a beautiful , soul searching song; hit a chord for a lot of kids.

Nowadays, she would'nt even get in the door of the music studio- as a delivery girl- That's how superficial and pathetic we have become. A nation and world of masks of Dimitrios. Peace!

  • Freakin Joe Walsh is a man in his own Groove and he could sing and pick the shite out of that guitar. AWESOME . Walk Away was a great song

  • Out on the streets, 69 or 70, around midnight...with the young ladies..oh so fine and Joe Walsh providing the music in the background! Take me back..to those sweet times in Cleveland.

  • Period-perfect music and machines. Love the harmonics and a touch of whammy bar. Many thanks, Joe and band. I dedicate this resplendent song to us, My Darling of Darlings -- My Heavenly- Precious Love, Barbra. My Eternal Love, Barbra -- rest in Divine Peace and Bliss until we meet again (forever) in Heaven. I miss you, and I love you, beyond words.

  • How could anyone not like this great song !!!

  • those harleys on this vid are out of mind wtf lok at those headlights hahahahaaaa

  • Tell me who sets the mood better than Joe?

    Nobody!

  • This was the Jame Gang tune that hooked me. I've been a Joe Walsh fan since that time.

  • @lancethrustworthy you hit the nail right on the head the album thirds was the first one of the James Gang's i ever listened to and i have followed Joe ever since

  • ;)

  • Oye elrubenchos buenisima ! Gracias

  • Stevie Nicks said Joe was the greatest love of her life, the way he plays guitar I could see why, I always thought it was Lindsay Buckingham, another excellent artist. Joe and his friends were in Dallas guest hosting on Q102 in the late 80's, and he played this really sweet piece on the guitar and he said, "This always gets the girls" I told my wife, HELL!, it gets me!! We both had a good belly laugh. There is no other like Joe.

  • @crazyunclerex59 There is a song that Stevie wrote for Joe called "Has anyone ever written anything for you". In the description area, below the lyrics, is the story of the first time she ever saw Joe. It goes on to mention the death of Joe's little girl and something about her that he shared with Stevie. It is a moving story that says a great deal about this man. Between Stevie's song to him and the story, I was moved to tears. If you haven't already seen it, it's worth a view.

  • @Msdistarr Thanks I'll check it out.

  • I think this was him doing Neil Young, Great!

  • Joe Walsh is one of the greatest rock guitarists around. One of the smoothest songs played by him and this extraordinary band!

  • One of the sweetest tracks ever laid down. Fantastic work by a guitar legend. Where are all of the allegedly decent guitarists of today? I hear a lot of fuzzy chords that meld into an incomprehensible more-ass of audio BS with today's musick. Listen up rock bands trying hard to make an adequate sound now-- it's all about the melody [treble clef action] and not just bass and beat.

  • TAKE ME BACK TO THE LATE 60's And 70's. THIS GENERATION CAN HAVE THIS TIME PERIOD. CLASSIC ROCK ALL THE WAY.

  • @TheCarnut57 BUT WE DON'T WANT IT EITHER!!

  • @TheCarnut57 AMEN!!!!

  • Joe's best guitar work, hands down. By the way, who is the female singing on this song??? You would think after 40 years that I would know, lol...but I dont.

By the way, what a guitar solo Joe. Thank you.

  • @MrMusic4love Chick singer's name is Mary Sterpka.

  • so who is who in the pic? must have been a very special time to be alive.

  • I was lucky enough to see them 3 times Twice with Joe and once without.Joe could really play in those days ..I guess he was really hungry in those days

  • Ah what memories the James Gang brings back ! The photo of the band sitting on classic Harleys, a Knuckle Head & a Pan Head with "Z" bars on both. Take me back to those days Scotty !

  • I'm the midnight man...I do what I can...To make sure that I am...The midnight man...Midnight man's on time...Everything is fine...All the words in rhyme...With everything............solo..........Midnight man, you're pretty...Midnight man, you're fine...Midnight man, be careful...Midnight man,...Midnight man, be mine
