And you do know that peta is against owning dogs as pets too right? You are criticizing you brother for owning birds as your dog, which you see no problem owning, comes running up. Hypocritical? I have no problem with having a dog as a pet as long as it is well treated, but the organization you are supporting does. I just found that comical.

Obviously not all humans have gotten in touch with their compassion towards animals which is why PETA exists :)
I'm a PETA member and supporter, however you have to look at this realistically - those birds will NOT survive if you let them out. You can try to find them a home where they have a bigger aviary, but you need to look at what it is in their best interest... and while I wish you could set them free, you're going to wind up killing them. I don't care if you want to hear it or not, but that's the facts. I'm a wildlife rehabb'er, rescue worker, and have vet tech training. I also have rescued birds.
@xandereliot I have definitely thought of the possibility of them not surviving in the wild but they seem pretty smart though; they took off a key ring used to keep the door closed meaning they want out! I couldn't believe they had done that so all I can do is grant them their interest in freedom. I will accept all ideas and advise but I will not be fine with them living in that small cage for the rest of their lives. First I need to convince my brother that having them caged is terrible:)
@ean7 I agree a small cage is no good, but basic intelligence doesn't mean they have the survival skills needed to ive in the wild. I would be glad to help- really don't want to see these birds die. Can also give you & your brother resources on enrichment for captive birds. I know it might be odd coming from someone on here, but PM me & I'll give you my work phone # & I can try and find a more suitable home for them. This is what I do for a living. I know a colleague tried contacting you today.
