  • Dave you are the coolest left handed badass I have ever had the pleasure of subscribing to. XDXD

  • Walmarts pretty handy too huh. heard you can even buy guns at walmart. haha

  • Wouldn't it be better to play a video game then to go out and kill innocent animals? :S

  • Comment removed

  • @StrongAussie Its ok if you eat what you kill.. but hunting as a sport is wronge and i dont see this guy doing so.. so please keep that opinion to yourself for he is teaching you how to survive if you were stranded in the wild for weeks at a time. dont knock nature or it will knock you.

  • Thank you so much man for this video, I have one slingshot and I'm about to buy another. I was wondering about the arrow mod and this video helped plenty.

  • I will try thanks! :)

  • could just use shorter arrows. like crossbow bolts

  • @TheRiggenbach Arrow needs length or you cant get enough pull to actualy fire it a decent distance.

  • @Four20pyro i understand all that, just saying for small game it doesn't take much, a 20 inch bolt would work.

  • @TheRiggenbach dupending on the slingshot and its draw length... if you want to shot bolts your better off with a Retractable crossbowpistol same deal and is small enough.

  • Bro, great mod...just made mine...so much easier to pack this than a bow...thanks for the video!!!

  • Hey Dave, I know you have the pocket hunter system, which looks great. For this modification though, what size Whisker Biscuit are you using? Large, Medium, or Small?

  • why dont you answer any of the wuestions dave?

  • Thanks for this video...

  • Cut the arrows in half & install an insert into both sides. Glue a threaded rod into 1 side where it sticks out just far enough to screw into the other half

  • @kenbow1962 no point? he has done 50 videos about that product!

  • @TacticalGamesReviews I don't understand...he was looking for a way to fold the arrows for carrying & that was my suggestion.

  • @kenbow1962 video was in 2009 :D he already found ALOT of ways to fold em

  • how badly does that golf tee effe t accuracy?

  • Dave, did you ever figure out how to do the arrows? I'd like to see. Thanks

  • Try a sleeve with a piece of shock cord to keep it together, just like modern tent supports for the arrow.

  • This is so incredibly smart. I love watching his vids.

  • Any one else duck a little at 8:21 ?

  • absolute genious

  • i learn when i watch this

  • yeah like that Im going to make one myself excellent innervation

  • The most inspiring video I have watched. Great ideas well thought out, these are the pearls( to swine) of wisdom, great presentation Thanks for sharing

  • Dave, I thought you were going to abandon all ideas of patents and marketing? Now you modified it even further and are selling them for profit... well, GOOD! because I bought one, and they fricken rock! Now if I can just keep my wife from stealing mine. I should have bought two.

  • i especially appreciated your speech about not getting into patents and marketing. good on you mate! this is truly one of the most ingenious contraptions i have seen you make and this is coming from an honest to goodness fellow bushman. i literally live by this stuff full time. getting a good heavy duty camera soon and will have some vid responses for you. honestly, i've not always had the highest opinion or the nicest things to say of you but that has changed today.

  • im so happy that when i go on amazon to find the components for this its all in the related items tab

  • did you ever figure out a way to fold down the arrows

  • love the slingbow dave, thanks for the wisdom. by the way, any progress on splitting the arrows?

  • A true ingenuity. God bless you sir.

  • i think i have the exact same sling shot but without the forearm rest, do u think its worth doing the mod for it or will it be to inaccccurate without it?

  • what kind of slingshot is he using.

  • 5:50 giggity

  • which size of bicuit should i use Small, Medium or Large ?

  • you are a god... great work there.

  • i killed my mother with an arrow to the knee, how do i send you photos?

  • how did you get the clothpin spring in there

  • Wow this is Amazing O_O

I will try and make this! (I don't have much money.) Is there anyways to make your own arrows?

  • Dude you are the coolest guy ever!! I have two of these slingshots sitting around and the arrow Quaker rest on a bad compound bow and never thought of that. You are pure genius. Thanks a lot and I'm going to go make it I'll send you any kills with it.

  • I used (and have again as an adult) this same sling shot as a kid (love it, as I use to dent the center of the O in the Stop sign time and time again). Biggest issue I had as a kid was the plastic wrist guard stretching out of shape over time. So I plan on replacing it with a thick piece of leather instead. The tubing you can get on Amazon, thera tube, for like $20'ish per 100 ft.

  • Hey man is there a vid on your pack??

  • I don't know if you've found a way to be able to break the arrow it two.but i have an idea what if you cut it in half and use the same type on insert you the bradhead in to and put one on both sides and find a threaded bolt with out the head and screw it and glue it to on side so it say then you shoul dbe able to screw and unscrew the two halfs giving you what you want

  • Dave that is amazing i love all your videos plz post more they are extremely helpful thank you

  • Can you take down Big Game with those advanced arrows with the golf T? or how can I make it so that can happen?

  • 13 people are slingbow haters

  • Do you want pictures of the baby i killed lol

  • This is possibly the most BA thing I've ever seen! You can make anything along the lines of weapons for real cheap! Sir you are one of the last TRUE RED BLOODED AMERICANS I know! Thank you for this I will most likely be making on for myself for christmas lol

  • Im a Marine currently stations in Okinawa Japan and Im watching this and can not wait to go back to try this lol

  • Is this latest modification available at your store (live in Europe, no Wall Mart here)?

  • I've serached your email address on your website to ask you some questions before purchasing from your store, but could not find any.

  • cant wait to make this :) its something for every canadian im sick of everyone taking guns out to the bush canada isnt like america where you can get a gun like you can a stick of gum

  • @BeldakSwordhand actually its pretty easy

  • @MrXtream123 legally... and our permits are much more strict since they still havnt made a decision on the long gun registry you have to go through a near year process to legally own a gun try taking it out of the house anywhere a person can see you and you're still boned

  • @BeldakSwordhand Take the PAL course and apply for the card and IF you get it then you can shoot long guns any place where municipalities allow! I am 15 and just applied to get the Minors POL, which means i can hunt and shoot by myself and also buy ammunition! so I am pumped!

  • now this is something an everyday CANADIAN can use.. I see a lot of videos and people using guns which a lot of canadians just can have on them

  • you are brill, keep doin what your doin and don;t let anyone stop you.

i live in uk and guns arnt an option. every vid i watched had guns in it as standered.

so to finally find someone who can get food without a gun and it being affordable

    gets my vote. thank you

  • what brand of wiskerbiscuit did you use, i cant find one with the spaces for the strap ties. help

  • 13 people don't know how to epoxy

  • Thank you sir. You are a genius.

  • I killed a squirrel with a bb gun...that has to count for something. A crow too and those things just don't want to DIE. But now my new challenge is to hunt things with slingshots and throwing knives. And a sling bow too, if I end up making one.

  • I'm thinking about purchasing a whisker biscuit but when I checked it out on a site they ask for the type of size. I'm scared that if I purchase it to big the it wouldn't fit between the rods of the slingshot and if its too small it might fall off easier. What should be the proper size for a slingshot?

  • That's some innovation right there. Well done.

  • Brilliant! Very good idea and instruction.

  • Dave, here's an idea for the break down arrow you mentioned... cut the arrow at the balance point, epoxy a threaded insert in the short pc of the arrow. take another insert & drill it out to accept a sm dia hollow rod... use a pc of elastic cord epoxied to the field tip and nock or golf tee running through the tee and presto you have a collaspable arrow like a tent pole:) Hope to hear back from you, let me know what you think...

  • u mentioned a brakedown arrow just a thought but maybe someone could modify a brakedown (foldup )tent pole into an arrow love ur vids . rob

  • what's a viscarbicuit???i dont know if I spelled it correctly but can someone please explain, english is not my first language, thanx

  • @inkmethod A wisker biscuit is a load of fibres put toether that make little resistance for the arrows to go through.

  • can u make a video on how to do it please if u do i am very thankful

  • Omg I'm going to make one of these I have a survival kit my self with a bunch of stuff but a sling bow will be perfect to add to my pack perfect I love your show duel survival and ur channel thanks for the info

  • This is the first time I've seen this video. When I saw it I almost lmao. Not because it’s a bad idea, because its a great idea. I had the same idea back in72 but I replaced the pouch with leather boot lace. This version is an improvement on what I did way back then. love what you’ve done,it's renewed my interest in the sling bow. going to go pull out my old collapsing and non-collapsing sling shots and upgrade them and head for the woods with them. Thanks for the info.

  • DAVE - I made a break-down arrow or bolt for my sling setup. The kind where you can fold it up on itself. I used a tent pole that does what you're talkin about. It has the elastic inside and comes in 2 pieces and folds up on itself. I attached some camo duck tape fletching and fastened a head on the end with apoxy. Works pretty awesome! Just letting you know we're out here runnin with your great ideas brother! Thanks again!

  • @Augz1776 This is the first time I've seen this video and when Dave said he was looking for a break down arriw I thought of the same thing. I think its a great idea and should work. Thanks for posting.

  • just FYI search homemade whisker biscuit on here/google you can make homemade whisker biscuits out of toilet/bowl brushes for $2 a piece. :)

  • I tried this with coathanger wire that I straightened out. Its cheap, works great and will stake a rabbit to the dirt. No exaggeration. A bent over loop on the end of the wire gave me something to grip.

  • @azreal289 call me strange but my dad and i made a pretty sick tool i think you would like. We made an old fashioned sling. yep. A sling. We made it from climbing webbing ( a 3 inch wide piece about 4 inches long and 2 yards of half inch wide webbing, cost maybe 6 bucks on ebay) We stitched it together with a speedy stitching awl. I can throw a 1 pound steel ball 300 plus yards. Swinging overhand gives accuracy with practice. Underhand for power. I could hit a man at 100 yards with that ball.

I'm really sorry abt this but... That's what she said.

  • Try looking at the "steady stix" bi pod, its made of aluminium and has an elasticated cord running through-maybe this could give you an idea re the notch/breakdown system you wanted answers/solutions to, anyway good luck-love the clips...Nick.

  • @Dmajorproductions

@TheBored Phantom G'day... Well Major D, I live 15 Km from town, on an Endangered Species Sanctuary, & the rules change at the Fenceline. I use trespassing Sheep for Archery Practice, & handfeed the Kangaroos.... Phantom, sometimes a GOOD idea needs to be out there For Free to the DIY-ers. Search 'SunFoil' to see me giving away my best work. To you, & any others bright enough to streamline a Solar Panel... Ciao !

  • gonna try this with ma pro diablo

  • What size whisker biscuit do you use??

  • @willc243 I heard the medium size whisker biscuit fits the model 3040 slingshot perfectly.

  • G'day... Well, here in Oz, it's illegal to own a Catapault with a Wrist-Brace - like the Wrist-Rocket. However, the Round Aluminum "Forks" & Separate Rubbers are allowed to be sold ; while, carrying the assembled-unit in Public Places is illegal.... I use a laminated Banksia-Wood Pistol-Grip with an integral Topside Wrist & Thumb-Web Guard... It's marginally, argueably, legal...; perhaps. Maybe I'll post a clip for you to enjoy.... I'll thìnk about it ! Ciao !

  • @WarblesOnALot jesus, how do you even breathe in such a restricted society???

  • @wildernessoutfitters Cut the arrow in half, take a #10 machine nut and put it into the aluminum arrow with /jb weld, in the other half put a 1" #10 macine screw into the other half, using JB weld, then screw the 2 halfs together. (if you want the arrow heavyer file in side of aluminum arrrow with DRY whte morter sand and kiity litter to make what ever weight you want the arrow to be, by adding kitty litter and sand, make sure you fill the in side of both halfs to the top so it flys true)

  • mr. DAVE u r aweson

  • 0:37 got duct tape? haha

  • Thats what makes you So Awesome Dave! You care about the Kids!

  • im 16 and a few weeks ago i was camping and i shot at a bird/chickadee and when i went to go get my arrow, i noticed the head was missing. i hit it in the neck and it took the head clean off from the shoulders. i was using a broadhead obviously

  • Dave you are the man!

  • Dave, I know that there are a lot of trolls on youtube and your going catch some static now and again, never let that slow you down my Brother. I live in Los Angeles and I own guns. Under the right (or wrong I should say) circumstances the 2k + rounds I have will be gone and I will be left with an AR-15 and a Saiga 12 to use as what? Clubs? What I learn from you and others just may be the difference between my wife and children surviving or NOT. Keep it up Brother. Kevin H.

  • Thank you very much for the info. You not going for the money is a refreshing change. I will be building one of my own shortly for my pack and to keep in the car. I will probably be buying a dozen of your take down arrows as well.

  • I do not know the internal diameter of the arrows so this is a non-proven suggestion. If you were to use aluminum arrows, they could be clean cut with a small tubing cutter such as what you would use to cut copper plumbing tubeing. I would guess that your local hardware store carries different diameter wooden dowel rods. (Continued)...

  • After finding the size that snugs into the cut arrow shaft...cut lengths of approx. 2 inches. Slide the piece into one half of the shaft and glue into place. When the other end is assembled onto the 1 inch rod extending from the first half, it should hold well enough from friction and the forward momentum of the arrow. If this works, you may find that 3 or 4 inch length is needed to maintain a straight shaft during flight.

  • Dave , What kind of mints are those?

  • he said penetration 213 times

  • i used the same concept of your sling bow with the whisker bisket but i attached it with a cable bolt screw eye it works great and i recently bought your full sling bow kit for my birth day and that one is also a great sling bow and i just wanted to give you one of my designs thanks for all the fun!!!

    Sam

  • dave just make the arrows to split and fold in the middle with bungy line just like tent poles. Same exact design.

  • That's Bad A.

  • Where's Cody??

  • You are a hero.

  • Excellent video :D, VERY helpful. I Liked, Favorited, and Subscribed.

  • Simply awesome

  • dave you are so cool and i am a huge fan of your tv show and cody he is something else.

  • i am interested in the process of the bow sling shot plz send info on how to make the holder for the arrow to pass. basically what would u suggest what kind of arrows

  • how is the ring made for the sling shot for the arrow is there a web for that

  • So why did you switch from this setup to the clipon version? Aside from the speed of removal, less weight, less bulk, etc. This seems so much more accurate than the new version. I'm just trying to figure the biggest advantage of the new pvc clipon mod.

  • You are the man keep up the good work!

  • Thanks for all of the trial and error, Dave <3 You already saved me a bunch of time and money.

  • that is a Great idea!, i have most of that stuff just laying around and i would of never thought of that.

totally going to go build that right now

  • i have an idea for the arrow for the sling bow

  • I made the first version and it was kind of hard to use. this looks way better. thanks dual survival dude.

  • outstandingly great idea

    thank you SO much :D

going to have some fun with this for sure

  • nice idea went out the other day and toke out a small raccon in the neck and shoulder area fun stuff

    jay

  • what if the arrow was cut in half and had two different diameters (i'm thinking wider half in front maybe?) and a threaded seam on the inside? so you could unscrew the two pieces and slide them together (like a curtain rod) cutting the length in half for consolidation purposes, and expand for function? just a thought, i don't know how that would affect the arrows flight though....

  • ive got an idea why not drill a hole below the whisket or whatever it was and put a laser in it

  • I am going to make this. and im bringing with me while im hunting so i can tackle some small game while im hunting big game!

  • This is awesome esp for countries like Ireland where fire arms are heavily restricted.

  • this guy is inspirational

  • All I can Say is WOW !!!!!!! This is just the Neatest thing I have Ever Seen !!!!! I am gonna get one made or a couple as soon as Possible for my kids, myself, and whoever ! Thanks Alot and Yeah YOU ARE THE MAN !!!!!!!111

  • f you made it foldable it would have to be internal in the hollow arrow. maybe a threaded insert of some sort pushed in the hollow tube so you could screw it back together. it would have to be in the hollow end of the cut portions of the arrow to work cause anything on the outisde would make the arrow not fly right through the biscuit whisker. i like the tent pole elastic idea, just have to figure out a way to make it internally and not put anything on the outside of the arrow.

  • It's Dave! Friggin A! I cannot believe I'm just now finding this channel! Never dawned on me to chech youtube for him... AND what a "killer" idea with the whisker biscuit...... Well looks like a got a lot of vids to get caught up :o)

  • what kind of tubing is it and where can i get it. thanks

  • You are the MAN!!!!!

  • To make it fold able you can put a hinge on it and a tube that fits tightly against the arrow and when you fold it you can slide the tube over and when you shoot the arrow you can slide the tube over the hinge.

  • This video is GREAT Dave. In return for all I've learned, I will look to your site first for anything I might need to buy. Today I purchased a Trek Light hammock from you. Great price. Great family. Some other tools and stuff will follow. It is the least I can do. Thanks for all.

  • congratulations! the best idea and nice job !

  • :D I killed something with it!! :D It's a human :3

No... But seriously though, you're vids are amazing :P you explain the how-to really well :D

I think you should cut a arrow in halve and screw a two sided screw in 1 halve and the other halve has a hole where you screw the screw in. :D ≡ are the feathers on the end, = is the actual arrow, - is the screw :3

    ≡==- ==>

  • im looking on amazon for the part you put in the middle of the slingshot, and the options are small medium and large. which would you recomend for the sling bow?

  • an idea for folding arrow. a bind mans cane fold like your idea suggestion. cutting in half or thirds and epoxying a coulper so one sides in. you can also use a elasttic cord to keep connected like the blind mans cane. one cord per arrow should work best. you could make the from sheat metal and epoxy it togeter

  • To the people on here saying he should protect his idea. He can't. The sling bow has patent roots all the way back to 1955. I'm suprise daisy and them don't sell a million a year.

  • Love the show as due my kids. I don't think I've seen you use this set up on the show. You should. Take care from Texas:~)

  • hey Dave, huge fan of yours and the show. i made myself one of these and i seem to be having problem with the whisker biscuit falling out of the actual bracket it comes in. any suggestions?keep up the awesome job and thanks again .

  • Hi Dave check out A+ Slingshots. The guy there has a system for shooting arrows as well plus he has a 3 and a 4 section bungecorded takedown arrow system that is pretty nice. The 4 piece take down arrow fits into a stainless steel water bottle with a screw on top. just thought you might like his arrows.

  • Fantastic video! I applaud you for caring about more than money. I will have to make one of these. This could be a useful item to put in my bug out bag. Thanks for making all your knowledge available for free!

  • hey dave a i am 11 years of age and made a slingbow and came home with 4 squrrils and 5 rabbits

& i dont play videogames i am a eagle scout and a hunter and fisher

  • hey dave a i am 11 years of age and made a slingbow and came home with 4 squrrils and 5 rabbits

  • Not trying be a wet blanket, but you can absolutely trademark and protect an idea like this, market and manufacturer them for mass distribution, and still encourage DIYers to experiment and build their own. wasted opportunity IMO, and but of course, you'd be cooling your heels in corporate offices selling the things instead of being out making videos, there's ups and downs. Also, do you know what whisker biscuit means to most people where I'm from?1?1?1?

  • @willfullyobscure He's not trying to make money from it though. It would be a good opportunity though... build a custom sling shot with a flip down arrow rest of some sort with super durable/powerful bands. That would be a killer thing to buy... literally.

  • This video is so simple and awesome. I have a project for tomorrow! :)

  • Comment removed

  • I can't find the right whiscker biscuit

  • This has to be one of my favorite videos on YouTube! I love to see people who are actually passionate about something instead of making money, I'm sure you could make truckloads of cash with something like this now that you're in the public eye and have a huge audience:P But instead you show us how to make it ourselves, with no benefit to yourself. Thanks Dave, it would be a much better world if it was filled with people like you.

  • I was thinking of a way to hold a notched arrow. Put 2 small holes in the pocket. Reinforce with small grommets. Feed string through the holes.Tie knots on the back side of the pockets large enough not only to prevent the string from pulling through the grommets but also large enough to grip and pull the pocket back.

I was wondering if anyone tried a design like this yet and how well it worked?

  • hey Dave......im sure you can fish with the sling aswell.....small hole in arrow....mono on sewing spindle....great mod....weighs nothing and increases range of game that can be taken, and that increases survivability...peace brother..

  • Your an inventor, Dave:)

  • flippin' awesome!!

  • What size whisker biscuit? Large or medium? Thanks

  • I subscribed because of this video! I like your ideas and I like your attitude even more! peace =)

  • Excellent. Well done, will try it. Thank you.
