This is Shepherd in his prime--a couple of decades before "A Christmas Story," launched him into orbit. I became one of "the night people," as Shepherd called his fans, but I climbed aboard only a few short months before the great man left radio for ever. He was far more intellectual than Dave Barry, who replaced him as the funniest writer alive. His detractors probably call him pedantic, but his followers laugh that off. This is just great.
