  • Would you recommend an SVT-40 even for prices around $1,000 today? There's one I'm going to check out in a few days. The owner tells me it is a non-refurbished 1940 dated import. It's mag does not match and the stock is not a AVT style with the auto selector cut. It supposedly has the cleaning rod and a "correct" sling. No bayonet. Couldn't get the bolt color from him though since he was out and about. What would you suggest I check out on it when I go? I have purchased from him before, so he'l

  • @mrpreserveourcountry The SVT 40 is a VERY tempermental rifle when you shoot steel case ammo. Brass, not so much, but still the gas operating system is very finicky. They are nice to have in your collection, but not nearly as consistant as the extremely reliable Garand. 1,000$ is a little high in today's economy.

  • @osu67 Ok, thanks. I'll still try to get one since I want to get one of almost everything from WWII or that era (minus full-autos). I don't shoot much anyway, so it being picky wouldn't phase me much. The harder thing for me to find would be a G/K43. Cheapest one I ever saw for sale was $850. That shop got back with me and said the bolt was blued(plumb), so I'm guessing it's a refurb. The muzzle break is the early 6 cut type that would fit the 1940 date.

I do have a garand, it's just not GI.

  • @mrpreserveourcountry That G43 is a Russian capture if it has a plumb bolt. 850 is a steal..jump on it.

  • @osu67 Sorry! I wans't clear enough. The "possible" plumb bolt is on the SVT-40 that the shop has right NOW. The G43 was one he remembered having in a few years ago. The thing was mismatched everywhere and the previous owner had replaced the original buttplate with a homemade rubber pad. The finish was something like 40%. I had asked him what G43's go for, so he detailed the most and least expensive ones that have ever gone through his store. If he does get one sometime that's good, I'll get it.

  • @osu67 Also, the SVT-40 he has now is $900 flat, after taxes and everything. He says it is near new looking, so it is probably a mix between a refurb and an original gun. Only reason I think this is because he says all parts but the mag match, and he will usually say if the gun's been refurbished. There is a chance that it's a "Northern refurb" import or something so that there is no electro-penciling on the bolt like many of those have. When I do check it out, I'll let you know what I find out.

  • I am Buying a SVT40, SKS and Mosin Nagant, Just got my PAL for Canada Non-Restricted, so excited.

  • @MP40DEL In VA "This prohibition does not apply to a minor in his own home or on his property or on the property of another with prior permission, while accompanied by an adult while hunting, at a range or firearm educational class, and while transporting an unloaded firearm to and from such activities." So shut up

Who ever taught him did a good job

  • thank you for that comment. better to teach him safety now than have an accident later. check out our other videos!

  • lol that guys like wtf hows he doing this lol. subscribed!

  • didnt even let that mosin bolt get the best of him lol. he just man-handled it every time it gave him an attitude. always great to see a young man who is not only interested in firearms, but has been properly taught in the safe and effective operation of them.

  • wow hes very good at shooting i guess. i really hate when parents say like, oh let me help you load, and like u need to hold it like this. but this kid can take care off him self.

  • the guys checking the target, that's hilarious! huh, can this kid actually shoot. Guessing YEA he can

  • He's VERY good, and patient too. he can also breake down all these rifles for cleaning. He is very safety conscious as well. Notice the muzzle blast/flash from the Mosin Carbine!

  • @osu67

Mosin Carbines are famous for the "Fireball". The Mosin line in general is an awesome line that is probably one of the most underrated bolt action rifles out there.

  • If you don't like the 2nd amendment you don't like freedom, that simple. There's a reason that was the 2nd thing the founding fathers thought of before this country had any currency, police force, before it was organized at all.

Without a 2nd amendment there's no 1st amendment, therefore no freedom. And if you don't like freedom, you don't belong in this country at all.

  • If the parent is good, the kid will be good. if the parent is bad, the children will be bad. its like an equation, go figure

  • And that's your opinion. And , no, it's not. As far as acting "smart", the "dumb" ones would rather hide from the 2nd Amendment, than protect it. I'll do what I do, thank you. let me ask you a question? You have a pelet gun? A slingshot? A baseball bat? They all can be used correctly, or incorrectly. I chose to use them correctly, and safely.

  • Guns can't influence people. people influence people and if the person is inherently bad, then they have the problem. My son respects firearms, knows more about them than most adults, and is a GREAT kid. A+ student, plays sports, and would not hurt a fly. let me guess, your parents told you guns were bad, huh? Guns can't hurt people, people hurt people. A gun is an inatimate object. So by your reasoning, pencils cause misspelled words, huh?

  • Kid is awesome.

  • That kid is awesome!

  • Get some son!

  • Both very well made.

  • The Gustav Mauser looks just like my Gewehr 98, except without the lange sight.

  • Not even flinching. That's very impressive for his age. Not even complaining about recoil.

  • looks like some heavy recoil on svt, lol

  • nice shot i need to shoot my 22 more often

  • Nice going Alan, I want me a SVT!

  • I want me a Gewehr 43 sniper rifle.

  • LOL, I want ME a Pershing tank, but alas, it ain't gonna happen....lol

  • Or a Stuart, those would be fun.

  • I love goin to the shooting range, brings back memories :D Nice shootin Alan!

    [EW]Sshack

  • is the SVT 40 fun to shoot? he should have taken the clip out of the SVT 40 before he set it down it would be safer.

  • It is a blast to shoot!! Ammo is so cheap for it too. 80 bucks for 440 rounds. When the rifle has fired it's last shot, the bolt stays back and you can see no round in the mag OR the receiver.

  • It's not a clip, it's a MAGAZINE.

  • He handle those guns like a pro..

  • WOW Alan! Very impressive! Your a great shooter! Good job Alan!

    [EW]MichellFriedman
