  • its better when u caught it alive not w/ arrow in his side

  • rare? no everywhere in texas, and bigger in the trinity river

  • i have never heard of this

  • I never new of such a fish existed .....

  • Exactly, they are dickheads

  • If it's so "rare" why'd they kill it..

  • Never Seen an Animal like that lol

  • Hardly a rare fish. You cant toss a dead hooker into a canal in Miami without hitting a Gar.

  • @MickScarborough That's a florida gar. they don't get nearly as big.

  • It's very rare, and your lucky if you ever see one, that's why we killed two of them. what a bunch of idiots!

  • Looks like a giant PIKE

  • alligator gar are not rare i can look out side my window and see 3 of them off my dock as a matter of fact i caught one last night it was 3 feet long

  • dude i want to eat it

  • Nice!

  • Undangerous? DAFUQ!?

  • Ese pez se llama; pejelagarto y lo comemos en Tabasco, México, es delicioso comerlo asado.

  • seriously, is this fish really tasty?

  • CocoFish

  • Maybe a trophy size for a pike, but not really much to look at for an alligator gar

  • one bit of knowledge for those of you that don't hunt or fish, pretty much every penny spent on hunting and fishing licenses and stamps and tags, and anything else that allows you to take game goes to wildlife conservation in some way shape or form. millions of dollars a year... food for thought.

  • the species itself is not rare at all, its widely known and widely fished and still quit common, specifically in the southern states. all they were referring to is the size of it is rare. so killing one of that size is not going to really harm the species as a whole. ya'll need to chill out. learn more about the outdoors, and how sports fisherman and hunters actually do more good for the species they hunt and fish for than those who do not.

  • its rare so lets kill it

  • ITS COMING RIGHT FOR US!!!!

  • If you have a pond or you find a lot in your local lake or river where you like to fish, you might find they cut lines, and eat the other fish. They're there to cut down on the fish populations like any other preying animal, but they also reproduce and there aren't many other predators out there to limit their population. It's probably all the smaller ones that are more of a problem.

  • IT'S A FRESH WATER GAR!

    *shoots it*

    I've saved it species. Mm-hmm.

  • ща ребята после фукусимы ще нэ такэ побачитэ

  • brave fishermen?

  • rare or not rare, don't kill it or i wouldn't help you when you are dying in front of me.

  • good lord, everyone just calm down. its not that rare of a fish! maybe in that part of the world it is but here in the south there just about as common as catfish! no harm done people.

  • @SayGoodNightBaby I FIND EM ALL THE TIME FLORIDA

  • they should have released it

  • They're not rare, ya morons. More of a nuisance. This one is pretty big (bigger than I've ever caught) but it's not huge by any means. The largest taken by bowfishing was 365 pounds. And harmless? I think not. A big one like this can take off a finger real fast.

  • It's rare and harmless... so let's kill it!!

  • @happyninslave

you got it! i really cant understand that mentality...whats left if we kill'em all?

  • en mexico este pez se le conoce como pegelagarto o pez cocodrilo es comun en el sur, es una especie unica y muy espectacular crecen de gran tamaño

  • wtf? an alligator and a bass fish maybe mate so this creature existed

  • Are alligator gar tasty?

  • In 1957 at the Fairhope pier in Fairhope Alabama my father caught an 11 foot gar out of the mobile bay. we have photos of it still today.

  • @sahneghoul You shoot them to keep them from killing all the game fish and for the fun of it all

  • alligator gar

  • It's a disgrace to kill such a beautiful creature that's doing you no harm

  • yeah i promise its not rare lol they are more of a problem so shoot away!

  • Alligator Gars are not nearly as common as Needle Nose gar. Alligator Gars also get significantly larger. They are still not rare by any means. I could take anyone on the Sabine or Trinity River in Texas and show you hundreds of them. Fun to bow hunt that's for sure.

  • Rare my ass

  • @yvorius amateur yes....but how does catching gar by accident make you an amateur when they take the same bait as a bass retard....i'm not fishing for gar...

  • they aint rare at all. you usually catch them by accident and they cut your freakin line and you lose your lure or hook...they're annoying.

  • how about next time you record the video on the river and let this beast go, instead off take it home HEUCK HEY MA LOOKS WHAT I CATCHED.

  • What!?!?! gars are tasty. Just add a dash of Obama Economy on it, starve a little, and add some salt and pepper... and yum yum, this Gar will go down like butter!

  • @xenoq666 LOL! I Luv You

  • Gar: What is snake head? Can i eat it?

  • We had 2 living in a creek next to our house in Florida. Saw them all the time.

  • Its not rare.

  • if it is so rare.. why you kill it.. you guys are the monsters not the fish! stupid research lab people..

  • ok you kill the big ones and then we don,t get babyones.

  • i catch these with sucker fish all the time in wv yo -.-

  • They are primitive and not rare, tons around Luisiana as Dj said.

  • keep killing them. There,s no alligator gar in south florida Ive been alover the ever glades and see them any more. I can under stand if you gut hooked it cause it will die any how but looks lip hooked though i wish i could still catch alligator gar but there pretty much gone down.

  • the people who use the bow method are men that need to compensate for having small genitalia.

  • Rare? You kidding?

  • menudos payasos...matar al pez...en fin

  • Half Fish, half Aligator.. this must be.. MANBEARPIG !

  • why do you keep killing these beautiful giants

  • alligator gar aren't rare, depending on where you're from. They get much bigger than that, at least up to 10 ft, some reports say much larger than that.

  • this isnt rare?

  • Before there was an alligator there was this fish. ^_^

  • i release all my fish unless they swallow a hook or something then i eat them, and im not preaching, but you know that fish probably didnt taste too good id throw that marvel back

  • proof that alligators evolved from fish?

  • im a missouri guy myself iseen an alligator gar in person it was getting air maybe but it was only bout 2 and a half feet

  • arrow fishing ? wtf~

  • i have seen a bunch in lake austin

  • these beutifull fish shud be returned alive , if you did this in england thr fisherman wud give you a right good hiding, whats the point, ?????

  • "Bobby look ova' ere it'sa one uf dem dare Alligator Gars..", said Cletus to his Uncle. "Well then Clet' I reckon Imma' shoot it. Look, It's COMING RIGHT FOR US!!" as the arrow is released from the notch that held it, it flies through the air and into the beautiful fish. " CALL THE NEWS' PAPERS ITS RAREEE!" Now in all seriousness, why shoot something that is rare, and you say cannot harm you?

  • alligator gar are not rare at all there found in rivers and lakes all threw out the south large ones ( meaning 6 and 7 footers ) are not uncomon to catch just getting harder to find but not rare and most ppl catch and release this larger ones

  • @Maddawwg45 There range used to be much larger. Thanks to the texas government they are a lot rarer in most places.

  • @fishfreak95 deffenatly i live on texas oklahoma border and my buddy goes to red river to catch his 7 footers infact he is current oklahoma state record holder at 192 lbs forgot how long like 7ft 6 inch might be longer but those monster are still out there for sure tg for conservation

  • I love river monsters and they have to shoot them with bows its just the better way of fishing as some people say

  • Maybe there not rare but if they going to keep on shooting them with bows they will become rare.

All hail to Kirk Kirkland of Texas : catch and release that's the only good way to fish this beautifull creatures !!!

  • @tarpon07 Its funny because the texas governments mentality was exactly the opposite before. They killed hundreds of thousands of them by electrocuting them to death. Some how they managed to not go extinct

  • HEF THAT!!!!!!

  • that aint rare or big in texas we got da biggins trinity river

  • LOL>? THEY CALL IT RARE? COME TO TEXAS PEOPLE!!!!

  • It's an amputated crocodile.

  • where i fish those are overpopulated and if u catch one they demand u take it and eat it cus they dont want them in the lake

  • yeah they are not rare at all we bow fish them here in texas

  • They aren't rare at all.. There a thousands in aquariums worldwide..

  • These are not rare at all?

  • So....instead of catching the fish with a rod and reel, you have to shoot it? With an arrow...

  • @ii1RONx there is a reel on the bow dont for get it ...its just another form of fishing

  • Why kill it if its rare?

  • @mangisda

I'm glad to see at least 32 people think this way...why kill something that large and rare? to watch it rot and show off to you friends?

  • @Kordage Because we Can.

  • @Madowstone Why should we beat the crap out of you and lecture you because you can't write a complete sentence?

    Because I can.

  • @wolfreak1212 TIPP: It was not the slogan of my president.

  • here on mexico... tabasco they are quite usual to find.. so its not so a rare fish on some places... great catch i heard theyr taste god hehehe saludos !!

  • They rnt rare dummies

  • We catch these in North Dakota all the time...

  • So you slaughtered the beast huh.. Why did you do that..........Don't answer, just think about it.

  • every time i go fishing i see one there not rare what so ever

  • Rare? Ive caught over twenty this year alone

  • Well....Let's "TAKE" 'em all.....what a bunch of dumbwads

  • Aligator gar and pike do look alot alike. That is a aligator gar, we have tons of them and the long nose gar here in North Alabama as well.

  • yea theyre not really that rare but cool anyway. sry if this comment is redundant

  • There not rare .come to luisiana

  • @djqucumberslice123 especially in slidell on carr drive

  • @djqucumberslice123 but proper english and good spelling is rare in louisiana

  • come down to texas and get a cookie.

  • That is not a allagtor gar that's a pike

  • @TXsgrl9213 It is an Alligator gar get your facts right.

  • when they will be rare i will not have a alligator gar farm , i breed them in thailand and they are great fish to breed and to study , easy reproduction as well , female need 11 years for reproduce as the male need only 6 years old to do the job

  • sorta like a pike lol its just an inbreed gater :P

  • they're not rare! if they were that rare, it would not be legal to fish/bowfish them. If they were that rare, there would not be charters out there that specialize in aquireing Alligator Gar.

  • Great gar, But whats RARE about it?

  • @anthonydykes02 looks like global warmings finally doing her job. Exterminatin things

  • @Azoicum ?

  • Why you have to kill the fish ?

  • @TopCatsFishing To eat it? It's their way of life.

  • @TopCatsFishing its harder to eat them when theyre alive

  • @TopCatsFishing becuz they are delicius (fried...)

  • @drewster956 eww really? they look so meaty

  • @NAVYWIFEONE they taste great "fried" with flour and seasonings some ppl make soup but i dont really like it that way ughh

  • @drewster956 If I were to see this thing in a fish market I wouldn't eat it but if they had just the meat I would, what does it taste like?

    chicken ( alligator tail)

  • @NAVYWIFEONE tasts like fish.

  • Comment removed

  • @CalvinMovieMaker : I am a real fisherman and I eat fish. I also am a real hunter who eats Bambi... Does that make me evil? :)

  • @Ammondude hell no it don't.. thats the best way to stuff your fridge... kill what you eat lol.. it's only nature.

  • @hataCONTROL187 Nice to hear a good ol' american fisherman talkin' ☺

  • @CalvinMovieMaker no a real fisherman eats what he kills.. now if you catcha fish kill it and throw it in the back yard then yeah thats a waste of good tastin fish.. but don't criticize people because of what they do.. I'm with Ammondude.. I kill Nemo, Bambi and most of the other little furry woodland creatures.. but I take my time to clean em, butcher em and cook a badass meal.
