  • alrighty I think I got it, I am pretty sure I counted 9 times haha. Very good explanations by the way, though you should probably detail the moves after the first example.

  • I don't think i've seen Bruce do many wrist rolls if any, at the moment i am still learning, for a strike i tend to find depending on how far the target is away determines where the nunchaku should be held, and when contact is made a rebound is inevitable and needs to be catered for in the easiest and safest way, would a wrist roll be used to strike an opponent?? Nice vid by the way TrueMusou.

  • I do it with foam ones but not realy hardwood ones like you have. I smacked my nuts one time and well it hurt.

    p.s. nother good job.

  • clock wise

  • dammm it my nunchucks have a long chain i can do any tricks with them can u help me?

  • Good video, Shows the movements very clearly, but has one MAJOR MISTAKE, you grip the nunchakus too close to the chain and it should be completely opposite, although it gives you more maneuverability, the nunchaku is a very short weapon by itself and you have to get as much reach as you can with it. Watch Bruce Lee.

  • Thanks

regarding the grip, its the best and easiest way to preform many of the freestyle moves. Holding it like Bruce Lee won't allow for wrist rolls.

  • Hey, I just started learning chucks at 21 (can see my pitiful attempts in my channel, but I wouldnt waste my time) - just wanted to tell you thanks for the tutorials. First one was the best by far. Anyway, thanks.

  • my pleasure.

  • great vid bud it helped alot thanks

    good explaination

  • no prob

  • hey i still cant get the wrist roll. it goes over the 1st and i catch it but i cant catch the second plz help me it just falls out of my hand and i lose control

  • Check the other tutorials I posted...there was one, i dun't remember which....but i tried slowing it down for people. G'luck

  • 2 things, you say wrist roll way more than anyone could ever count... chances are you are even saying it right now.

The other thing is, THAT IS THE SAME AS MY STAFF TECHNIQUE #4 (ironic title is #4) But we don't call it a wrist roll, its a standard staff spin. techniques 1-3 deal in teaching you how to spin it, then the next one is to get the flow of how you are suppose to switch hands.

  • Oh here is another interesting tidbit of information. When you wrist roll, it flows in a 3 count.

While learning staff spins, we are taught the hand is following a 3 count. Left handed spin is the invert of right and center spins (in essence 1 and 3 are the same, 2 being the left handed spin.) normally for right handed spins, the staff is on the right hand twice, left once. (by this i'm talking of the count) nunchaku just does it with one hand.

  • Thanks for clarifying. I was never formally taught as you were. So I tried to best explain my process. Good to hear someone who was taught a formal process.

  • Funny you mention that. I wasn't formally taught in most martial arts I use. I did have 2 teachers. My first was traditionalist japanese karate. Nothing flashing, just the basics. I learned the most discipline from him and forgot just about everything else. Later on, a colleague of mine who studied mixed martial arts (he was korean- yelled at me for calling him sensei) taught me some weapons training.

  • As for formal training, I don't train formally. I train mixing philosophy with efficiency. (In essence I mix martial arts to find out what style is useful to me, and in doing so I studied a lot of different types.) Did you know learning how to properly strike with a staff can improve you stability for stances and palm strike power.

  • Oh right, but let me tell you quick basics of what I learned.

+practice a move you feel is basic many times in many sets CORRECTLY! (till it becomes instinct)

+speed up moves you are practicing till you can't handle it anymore, then slow down a little (it builds speed, also lies in with instinct)

+Don't goof off (most of the time) It is dangerous, also goofing off builds bad habits which are hard to change.

There are more, but i feel that those 3 apply best to you.

  • so good... where did you learnt to use the nunchakus like this...?

  • back yard...through a method of trial and error

  • ha, ha... just like me... I've started seeing some videos here...

  • watch good fighter 1 2 3

  • thx man

  • ...I think I'm going to try that...as soon as I get some nunchakus. I'll keep them in my purse if a guy tries to grope me while I'm walking down the street. :D Lol. Great vid.

  • You'd want mace for creepy men haha.

  • But..nunchakus are much cooler.Perhaps I'll mace first..then use the nunchakus. Haha.

  • Touche lol

  • 5 Stars!

  • I dunno, I have a week before I move out to uni...so until then, I can maybe put out one more of w/e you wanna see.
