  • Love the little caterpillar at 7:13 just crawling towards the maser :D

  • Hickok may i ask what your ethnicity is? haha :) I know you are American, but by blood what is your heritage? The German rifle looks good in your hands

  • 1:54 it's crazy how the target starts swaying before the sound reaches the observers. Very cool. Good job on that range too, very difficult with iron sights.

  • LOL Raccoon at 11:10.

  • Fired the Lee-Enfield 303 which I think as a quicker bolt action to re-load than the 98.

  • Mauser's are going for ridiculous amounts of $. Way overpriced these days. I passed on the Mauser and went Mosin Nagant.

  • @NowCryHavoc

I'm, curious to know what amounts they go for in the states. Was wondering about getting one here in Norway and here the 30.06 win version goes for about 170 - 180 usd. and the 7.92 mm about twice that. Love these guns. Over here thats cheap for a rifle like that anyway.

  • @bjornhaavard I see them on GunBroker going for over $1000.00 if they are in any sort of good shape at all. I too love those rifles. Yes, they are old designs but they are fantastically well designed and more than capable of doing the job they were designed to do. They also make great hunting rifles.

  • The mauser is good but didnt it suck in cold weather

  • Who do you use as your cameraman?

  • i would like to see hichok shooting an stg44 and mg42 :>

  • ooooh Hickok45 you should do a WWII special :)

With the K98k, MP40, Mosin Nagant, 1911a1 and so on...

  • What a beautiful rifle. God I want one.

  • Love the sound of these old bolt actions, my favorite for sure.

  • That thing is a beauty for sure, love the stock

  • 10 million were made

  • 7:10 lol john's more interested in the inch worm.

  • 11:00 pls make the same with the nebelwerfer ! pls pls :D

  • @thatguru877 I'm sorry, do I know you? Perhaps you know me... No? Then how do you presume to know our reasoning behind it? For that matter, what gives you the right to even suggest that I tell my family to "fuck off"? The Mauser stays on the wall, if anything you've strengthened my belief that it shouldn't be fired.

  • do you ever got to shoot the Sturmgewehr 44 ?

I've been fortunate enough to shoot one.

Real smooth recoil. Great fun to shoot.

  • Theres somebody creepin over there to take a look at. LOL

  • Is the 8mm cheap to shoot like the 7.62x39 I'm in canda and i can get a tin of 700 rounds of 7.62 for 200 i like k98s thinking of getting one

  • Comment removed

  • @Redharry48 that is if you can find one...

  • an all matching original SS Mauser will run around the $2500 dollar range.

  • I have a Mauser that my grandfather brought back with him from WWII. I would love to shoot it, but out of respect for the family and per their wishes, it will forever remain a wall piece and will not be fired. If I could find one at a decent price I would probably buy another one to shoot though.

  • @roymurray1979 Your family would rather look at it on a wall than cherish it for generations of fun? Tell them to fuck off and go pick up some 8mm.

  • insted of pulling the striper clip out by hand and throwing it away drive the bolt home and it will eject the it and it will make a pinging somthing like a m1 grand

  • beautiful gun i love the ss marks

  • 7:14 gave me a chuckle.

  • Anyone know where you can get a SS Marked Mauser?

  • @RazorCell7 a high end dealer for $2500+, you used to be able to buy SS ones made in a concentration camp that were russian captures (mismatched) for $900 in the late 90's, but most military surpluses of all kinds are running dry in the country, they were going to import all the M1 Garands from S Korea to the CMP but there frozen in Canada by Obama.

  • @Redharry48 Well then, at least I can buy an M1 Garand then.. know of any dealers selling SS Mausers?

  • @RazorCell7 Pine River Pawn has one and an original Winchester M1 Garand.

  • @RazorCell7 not at the moment, depending where you are. go to a gunshow and find a guy with a lot of ww2 stuff, or military stuff and ask them if they have any mausers, after that ask if its SS. There tough to find unless you have a good group of dealers which you deal with. (meaning they get WW2 stuff in on a regular basis)

  • @RazorCell7 good luck finding one even if its mismatched...

  • I have a Russian Mosin Nagant, and a K98K Mauser. Got both for around 200-300$.

  • I want THAT rifle sir.

  • @hickok45 how much do you think a k98k would cost

  • @loganjames9 300

  • Fired a Swedish Mauser in .308 a few weeks back and loved it, but I wasn't tremendously fond of the sights. With the correct sighting picture, should your target rest at the point of the triangle, or be partially obscured by it?

  • Austria <3

  • 1:57, at your age, I bet you say that a lot! lol

  • hey Hickok 45 if u are willing 2 sell your 98k how much would u ask for it !!

  • @whitey5238 just buy one at an auction or a gun show remember not all of these guns are his of course and i doubt he would sell you one since it's just like ill send you my gun you send me the money

  • @Hickok45 Is 8mm ammo still available and is it pricey or can you get it pretty cheap?

  • wood and steel day is my favorite day of the week :)

  • What wouldn't I do for one of these...

  • how far away is that far plate?

  • @rockonmyfriend 230 yards he said.

  • How much do Mausers generally run for?

  • even bugs like it

  • *Mauser sorry

  • Hey Hickok, I'm a huge fan. I was looking to get a german k98k mouser. Do you know how much they run?

  • @USMCWelborn it depends on the state of the rifle itself but you can find a good one on gunbroker for around $450-$1000 and in gun stores just about anywhere, but stay away from russian captures they rarely match all the parts because the russians would take them apart to transport them and then re-assemble them.

  • I want one of these bad and I finally found a place around me that claims to carry them!!!!!!!

  • 7:16 Worm FTW!!

  • Hi, hickok45 I like your videos, I'm a big fan since two years! I'm French and I know the Mauser, I live near the Beaches of D-Day, place of Memory for for thousands of people, that should not be forgotten.Have you ever been there?

Mine is a "Duv41" recover from a former Wehrmacht Soldier's, remained in France after the WWII.I've fired a few WWII perforating ammo's(1943 still like new!!), an amazing powerful! With this ammos the steel target looks like a Swiss cheese!

    Hickok45 chapeau bas!

  • 230 yards... and 2 hits of the first 5? Pretty decent my man!

  • I absolutely love good old wood and steel guns!

  • Timney trigger?

  • You know, I'm on PSAdvance's side here. You guys need to read more comments than the ones that piss you off. He's already corrected himself, and he shouldn't have to impress it upon one other person, let alone 3.

  • I recently bought a k98, it has the MAUSER logo on the receiver, it does seem to be a "Russian capture". I bought it for 500 bucks because the seller said the value on it would increase since it is such a rare rifle.I tried looking up some info on it but found nothing....

A little info would be greatly appreciated Thanks everyone =D

  • ha, nothing can resist the Kar98k! Not even the local insects. wish I was that worm, what a sweet piece. Good video hickok!

  • I love your videos. Great job! And beautiful gun...

  • Noticed you have one with electro penciled serial on the bolt itself. I have one like this as well. I read in my research that usually this electro penciling means that those parts are not original matching. This was due to the rifle being a Russian capture from the eastern front. Russians took out the bolts when they defeated Germany (along with us) and took out the trigger guard capture screws and the cleaning rods as well as the front side covers (issued on rifles from 1939 and later) and me

  • so the wermacht and waffen ss had to shoot these without ear protection yeah?!

  • @sheyon1000 well maybe not in training but in combat, sure

  • @sheyon1000 It was common for Germans to put cloth in their ears that was kept in place by the helmet

  • catapilla!

  • Such a classic <3

  • CHAPTER 2 !!!

  • Hickok45 for president 2012 !!!

  • even that worm on 7:13 loves this rifle... :P

  • @Thisissaj12100, They're bolt action rifles. As long as you have the strength to operate the bolt than they're practically 'reliability' speaking, Exactly the same.

I'd go enough to say the Mauser is more reliable because it fires a rimless cartridge.

    Unlike the Mosin.

  • Hickock. I am thinking of buying my first RC K98 it has Nazi markings but they are peened. The bolt wiggles about a 1/8" when it is in the fully rear position does that seem normal to you? PLZ reply cuz i dig your channel. Thanks

  • You are the best hickok45!!!

  • k98 ss marked part 2 with a quick close up?

  • @TheBlacksan ok thanks ! So a stripper clip is the blac ktool hickok45 uses in some of his videos ?

  • I posted that before you said you lived here dude I want to shoot guns with you man lol

  • man only if you lived in Tennessee's would visit you and shoot guns all day lol

  • @zero48411 the mauser 98 is not more reliable then the mosin nagant, it pretty much can't be because of the mosin nagant's loose tolerences.

  • Hickok45 own Youtube

  • Hi Hickok45, I'm from Bavaria/Germany and I have the same gun! Really good Vid! Go on and "Life's good"

  • I looooooooooooooooove the look of this gun *_____*

  • By the way, what's the difference between a clip and a magazine ?

  • @locknloadbitch A clip (stripper clip) is what is used to load a magazine. The magazine (internal, or external) is used to feed the weapon. Folks often call a magazine a clip which is not accurate. Does that help?

  • What happened to the slug ? lol

  • Regards from France !

  • Really neat gun. The stripper clips are way better then the Mosin.

  • are there lefty versions of that gun

  • Damn those 8mm are cookin. Whats the velocity on these rounds?

  • LOL 7:08

  • @hickok45 You know you're a good shot when you start with, "That's too far away, where's my pistol?"

  • I bet this beautiful piece of history never imagined it would end up in America and being shot in 2011 when it was "born" in Steyr so many decades ago. Absolutely wonderful firearm, I'd buy one if I could.

  • Great Gun !

But uve right hickok, scary history...

    Greetings from Germany

  • Can you Demo some M1A1 tommy gun and BAR.

  • I like your WW2 Rifles. which is better to shoot Arisaka,Kar98 or Mosin Nagant? Thanks.

  • Almost all bolt action rifles today mimic the Kar98k's bolt. All Remington 700 bolts are K98 clones.

  • @ADyingFetus Not at all! Look at the bolt and extractor on a K98 - controlled feed and extraction. Nothing like a Remington 700 with its rinky dink pin and snap.

  • @dufferut Let me correct myself, almost all rifles use a VERY similar bolt to the Kar98k. They all work the same way, although the Kar98k will always be the top dog.

  • agh well that was cute <3

  • this video give me another prespective of this gorgeous rifle

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing that, I love mausers.

  • Beautiful rifle and interesting part of history!

Don´t know about now, but a few years ago you could buy a WWI issued G98 in excellent condition for under 200€.

Quite frustrating that we are not allowed to buy them. :-( (unless we spend a few thousand euro in a hunting license or frequent shooting in a club for some years)

  • As someone mentioned from before, this is a Russian Captured rifle. These rifles were taken apart, black paint was applied to the metal parts, and the stocks were varnished. For your rifle, it looks like someone tried to restore the rifle by removing what the Russians did. The stock numbers are not German matching, but they are Russian matching. The only thing that matches on here is the barrel, receiver, and front sites if numbered. Those parts are Waffen SS, not the "evil" SS. Hope this helps!

  • 15:16 ha sneak in some m1 grand fire power superiority.

no matter the men behind the Mausers was far more experienced with their guns

  • @SabreWolferos Than an American with an M1, hmm not sure about that. Don't forget why U.S. marines got the nickname devil dogs in WW1, by mauser armed troops. They both were experienced as hell.

  • @MaximusRightAngle your absolutely right. im just mad cause i love my mauser and can never really afford an m1

  • @SabreWolferos Try the Civilian marksmanship program. You can pick up a nice service grade M1 (luck of the draw) for 625.00. If not mausers are still awesome and sooo fun.

  • f'ting! chk

  • i have a single shot bolt action .22LR rifle made by ERMA it was made in 1934 it is modeled after the Mauser 98 ive never held a real mauser98 so im not to sure but supposedly the .22 is the same wait an length of the mauser so the germans in world war 2 could train with it because it fired a .22 round which cost alot less then 8mm mauser's, an i got it from my grand father his father had brought it back from the war im sure it wasnt used in combat but i still wounder where an how he found it.

  • what is nicer to shoot with? bolt action or gas operation?

i really like both guns but what will give more fun to shoot with?

  • @TheBlabla1996 I prefer bolt action because you actually do the action, if you know what I mean. and those ww2 rifle are so fun to shoot. I personaly own a R700 and a mosin nagant 91/30 and I have so much more fun to shoot the mosin even though it's not accurate.

I'm french canadian so sorry if my english is not really clear.

  • @MaxTheMillionaire okay, well im 15 and im still wondering what gun i would later buy

i really like bolt action because the mechanism sounds so good, but that was with a .22 lr..... i like ww2 weapens because it one piece steel and wood but if never fired with it

haha im dutch my englisch is not so great either

  • he must of cleaned that so many times over the years for it to be working like that still :P

  • el kar 98 es mi rifle favorito y me encantaría que hicieras un vídeo sobre las armas de WWII alemanas, estadounidenses y rusas

  • the perfect rifle humanity will never forget the Mauser !!!!!!! With mosin nagant thanks for videos !!!!

  • becareful using old ammo if use clean rilfe soon as possible ww2 ammo is corrosive

  • missing the front site hood

  • Anyone else felt that wonderful aroma of wood when the camera closed up on the stock?

  • Too bad us germans aren't allowed to own firearms. This summer I'm going to a firing range near Berlin where you can rent guns and shoot them under supervision, so I'm going to shoot one of these and I am really looking forward to do so :)

  • the great thing about being german is when you fire one of these guns you know wtf its saying and its made for you

  • my great-grandfather carried one of these things to poland, north africa and all over russia.

  • The Yugoslavian Mauser 98k was my favorite.

  • Are you gonna do a MG42 or StG44 review or are these to expensive? Great and Review. Following your channel for a while now. Was really worth it. : )

    regards from Germany.

  • @LordValnar it is hard to find out MG42 in germany?

  • @grizzlyhunterman

It´s very hard to even get weapons here. And all Fullauto Rifles are completely forbidden. Only the police is allowed to use them.

  • @LordValnar Extremely expensive.The cheapest ive seen a MP44 is $1000

  • Timney triggers are a must if you have a Mauser for plinking. The original trigger is pretty bad. You can adjust the pull on a Timney btw.

  • I want your back yard!

  • Have anyone noticed that birds doesnt stop to sing? Pretty learned or deaf ;]

  • Lmao...Inchworms

  • anyone else lol at the catterpillar.

  • that is how our quality works

  • Here in Florida 8mm Mauser is $18.00 a box. And I cant really find surplus anywhere.

  • You wouldn't believe the price of one of these in my area, $2500, check out Milarms site if you don't believe it

  • iron buttplates for iron shoulders!

  • nothing irks me more than people who dont understand/ dont care to learn the difference between a magazine and a clip.

  • @sibirty Yeah, a clip is what you put on a magazine after you're done reading it. Them bastards!

Haha, but really I was talking to one of my work buddies on the difference. It's confusing to most movie watchers, actually.

  • Hay Hickok do you know if you could put a peep sight on a Mauser and how

  • got mine on christmas:)

  • Is this a Mitchel's Mauser? it looks like a Russian Capture but with a scrubbed receiver, as my byf 42 and bcd 44 mausers don't have such deep groovings in the codes.

    Im just wondering.

  • what caliber does the mauser k98k use 8x57 right? couse i'd love to hunt with that rifle

  • Comment removed

  • why is my all matching with original sling ( no electropenciling ) why does it have a bolt with a half ball that is checkered on the underside

  • ive heard of Cooking a Grenade but cooking a missfired round... =D u learnd something new every day =D

  • Hmm... i thought german bayonets did not have the muzzle ring

  • @MrTicklebunnies

Your right I don't think they did.

  • @MrTicklebunnies they dont. I bought a a yugo m48 bayonet for my vz24 and k98k because its cheap and looks the part

  • I'm from germany :) and i LOVE the k98 :)

  • I'm new to collecting old ww2 rifles and I just started looking for a mauser. Something I notice on every decent-looking mauser are numbers that look as if someone took an engraving-pen and drew a 4-digit number on the bolt (and sometimes safety as well) like displayed in this video @ 3:53. What is this, and why is this done? I turned down a few potentials because the "writing" was just awful and didn't look right to me, but I don't really know any better because I'm so new to this.

  • @szchicken those are done by the soviets, when they refurbished them. That means its a "Russian capture" Mauser.

  • How much is all I ask!

  • holy shit An inch worm! :)

  • So much neat history contained in a small package, these weapons are priceless

  • @123s453e56a6l it killed jews

  • @cber8860 The man who held it made the decision, not the rifle. Don't begrudge objects for the horrific actions of man. People holding Mosin Nagants have been killing US soldiers and innocent civilians since 1918, but you don't appear to despise them for that.

  • @Yeahraftin i was just saying yes my 1936 mosin has probley killed many people

  • @Yeahraftin /You mean since 1960? and the Mosin is better for reliability, price, and the round. But the Mauser has much better ergos by a long run. Get your history right!

  • @lalablablaification no, I mean since 1918. Like I told the other one, look up Allied Intervention in the Russian Civil War. I have my history right, thanks very much.

  • @Yeahraftin Mosin Nagants have not been killing US soldiers since 1918. The US were not in WWI for starters, and Russia was on the same side as the US during WWII.

  • @PSadvance lolwut? "the US were not in WWI" your joking me right?

  • @SloughG1 My mistake, they entered a year before the war ended. I should have double checked, I'm most familiar with my own nations contribution to the war . Regardless, Russian forces did not attack US forces.

  • @PSadvance We were in WW1.H owd you think the BAR and Thompson came around.1917 to 1918

  • @usafisasome Read my other comment.

  • @PSadvance absolutely no idea where you got your information but the US declared war on Germany in April 6th 1917 after President Wilson asked congress for 2 years to essentially separate themselves after the Uboats destroyed the Lusitania that was headed to the UK. There were 4,355,000 troops deployed, 126,000 US soldiers died and 264,000 were wounded....get educated breh

  • @TheDoonzman Ive already replied to this. Read my other comment.

  • @PSadvance About that.... look up "allied intervention in the Russian civil war" on wikipedia, and tell me that Soviets didn't fight Americans in 1918.

  • @cber8860 dont know about that, but possibly took down quite a few americans back in the day..just sayin

  • @cber8860 how much did you get this mosin nagant for? because i highly doubt it was used in any warfare, most likely an army surplus
