I thought that the three women in the middle gave thoughtful, well conceived answers given the pressure and time limits. Yes, they were diplomatic in their answers, but the ease with which they spoke clearly showed that they were knowledgable about important socio-political issues.
Overall, they're far more well spoken and educated than any recent Miss America contestants I've seen. Of course, that's not saying much...

Maybe if Miss Croatia had won the Miss World crown she could have been a bigger influence on the world stage, but still, instead of giving an answer to the question just trying to seem intelligent, she gave an answer which was from the heart and represented her country well and may have helped stop the violence there.

@tanrat7 What was the probability of her winning the contest in the starting? I would say next to nothing & that's true for every contestant because of the cut-throat competition at that stage. The only point of her participating was to be a successful model or actor. And I think she is currently doing modelling instead of charity.

I just felt you were being overly critical of Miss Croatia's answer as being not sophisticated enough but I liked her answer. I thought she was being very caring towards her country but if you disagree with me, its your choice.

@rash9876 I agree that it was not a well-informed answer, even about her own country, as she never specificaly answered the second half of the question- how she would try to stop these events; I felt she was trying to get sympathy and hiding. On the other hand this is a question that requires reflection, its as if you just heard that you had one wish to make. She gave a realistifc answer, you couldn't discuss more epic issues in only a few seconds without being simplistic and seeming quixotic.

In that time Croatia only needed indepedence, but Serbia attacked my country and Bosnia too and wanted to kill everyone who wasn't Serbian. A lot of mothers still don't know where their sons are killed and where their bones are, a whole forests and fields are still under mines ... Some people lost whole family. In that time that was a everyday life for this young girl, so it's normal that she mention that.

And its not asked in her first language so it makes it hard for her to get her point across. And what is she ment to say? aishwarya rai answer was good and there was an applause from the audience whenever she replied to the questions.glad that this time she didnt commit the same mistake as what she did in miss india compettition, but i also feel three more girls also gave their honest reply and when compared to those three girls it looks ash had rehearsed her answers.

Aishwarya is awesome! Did you know that she won the title of the "Best Miss World of all times" too? She is simply amazing! She is now a great actress and dancer in India and occasionally does Hollywood movies too.
