I tried both Vista and ME before and ME was 15000x less stable than Vista is. I am so glad I had it for only one year. It crashed so much and at random, including after crashing. It was slow enough to make Vista look like one of those fighter jets that fly at sub-1000MPH. And did I mention the billions of glitches plaguing the OS?
But even then, I'm glad to have upgraded from Vista to the Windows 7 RC. Best Windows since 95.

They're offering this "free upgrade" more as a way of getting more Vista sales before launch, as people will be able to get the new version for nothing. It's just a sales tactic, which you can't really blame them for. It'll also instantly boost Windows 7 sales based purely on the fact that a Windows 7 licence is technically sold with these eligable systems. Microsoft love sales figures, even if falsely inflated like how they counted pirate copies (knowingly) to make Windows look better.

Seems like more of a user error than anything. Vista has worked great for me since day one, it has never locked up or BSOD. I have only once BSOD in XP due to faulty ram. I build my own computers and they always run stable. You were most likely having problems with your Windows OS in the past because you were probably they type of person who always jumps on those $499.99 computer package deals.
It's more of a joke now than anything, sometimes it could get really bad though, compatibility issues up the ass and performance would be horrible sometimes. But for some people it works fine./

Wow, what an amazing hate message just below me. xD At least it was good for a giggle (stone age, lawl).
Vista is a terrible OS- so much so that I have dual-booted my PC with Ubuntu. The only reason I ever jump over to Vista anymore is to simply use my graphics tablet- and even that is becoming a pain. Though this vid is meant for laughs, it's not entirely untrue. I never thought I'd say this, but I miss XP.
