  • Interesting; Bertie referred to Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany as "Cousin Wilhelm," but he called Nicholas II of Russia "The Russian Czar" even though Nicholas was their uncle or second cousin or something like that.

  • @2wingo Czar Nicholas was also a first cousin to George V but through their mothers (both Danish princesses, I believe)

  • @waterlilyqueen Geez, no wonder historians call WWI "The Great Family Squabble."

  • It is said that obnoxious boys like David can grow up to be obnoxious MEN!!!

  • David is such a jerk-wad! But still he was a great Villian!

  • I'm thinking that "kinging" is going to be the answer to all questions from now on. After all, it's such an eloquent response ;) Forget about 'winning', 'kinging' is where it's at!

  • After this his brother - forgot his name - is so mean to him! Hes gonna stammer too, just to annoy Berdie. Bloody selfish jerk.

  • "and who will sort out Herr Hitler"? Indeed!

There is every sign that "David" NEVER understood the menace that Hitler DID represent and communism did NOT for an intrinsically democratic and strong country like the UK.

  • @mc0558 To be fair, this was at a point in history when people didn't realize just how bad Hitler was, coupled with the fact that WWI was fresh in everyone's mind, nobody wanted to risk another war.

  • Yeah...a guy who refers to acting as the monarch as "kinging" probably shouldn't be in that position.

  • @DuchessAliana I agree with you. If you don't take the institution seriously, you soundn't be in it.

  • Thumbs up for Mr. Firth doing an extraordinary performance. Dunno if best movie. Sure know best actor. the others were gret but nothing compares to such a role in a lifetime. Nuff said.

  • No stammer there though. hmm...

  • @lowtts He's speaking to family. So why would he have a stammer then?

  • @lovelylizzie333

It would depend on what he was feeling at the that moment. To be the stutter person has can share similaritties, but is also individual based. I'm speaking from experience. I'm a stutter. I know what it's like when you feel you get your words out all because of how someone would react to you. I used to be teased for it. Bertie has all these things he wants to say, but feels he can't because of the way David treats him. More than anything else, he's letting his fear get to him.

  • @lowtts He was angry. Whenever Bertie was angry he wouldn't stammer (see swearing scene for reference :P).

  • @DuchessAliana In reality, George VI could fly into a rage that was dangerous to him as well as to everyone else. Apparently, the only one who knew how to deal with it was his wife.

  • Wow! new word: KINGING!!! really impressed!

  • @elemay79 at least he isn't queening....oh gawd i'm so unfunny aren't I?

  • That blonde dude (Guy Pearce) playing David is great -so smarmy looking and acting.

"I've been busy. Doing what? Kinging!". LOL!
