Thank you to the National Book association, for acknowledging true brilliance and giving credit for a voice that needs to be heard. Sherman is brilliant in so many ways. Courageous to speak the truth with boldness that frightens the weak in spirit, weak in heart. It's about time we are seen as full complex human beings. . because dammit, we are!

The guy is cool and his books are alright. The problem I have with Native American media is that theyre almost always about negativity in the Native American community. Haven't you every heard the phrase: "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it at all..."?
I'm half Indian if you haven't figured that out from my user name. My tribe doesn't live on a reservation, but they might as well. I don't live there but I've been there and I only know of 3 people who have gotten out and they are my mom's parents and her cousin. This man is incredible to have left and to have become something wonderful, to not have just become ordinary. What a hero; I almost cried! :')
This book of yours is SO amazing that I am including it as part of the Writers' Prize in the Hirschi High School short story contest - Wichita Falls, Texas. You did THE Perfect Job! You are Pulitzer and Nobel perfect! Many of us have no idea. The Writer and artist that you are - give us sight.
the part where alexie said "death kindly stopped for me" i've read that somewhere and still couldnt forget about it. that poem was truly inspirational.
sherman's books have really been inspiring to me and others as well, to begin writing and we are just impacted by his words and books as much as he is by the authors who influenced him. Keep writing and speaking!! Thanks for your humbleness and strength!

There is nobody -- man or women -- who is uglier than Fran Lebowitz, and few who have less talent.

this is an amazing book. I felt like Sherman Alexie was writing my story, and I know other folks felt the same way when they read it.
