If you want money, get your Bachelors at Devry. I made 170K by the age of 30 -- until I figured out I don't like business. But it was a good first career. Now I'm on to real estate.
Why spend thousands of dollars to get a degree in order to get a boring, low-paying job only to make money to pay off the student loan? A job they probably hate anyway. I rather spend the money on a trade I love to learn to get a job that I love to do. Maybe a sports career or film career.
The average is skewed because of occasional people who make it big (especially pro athletes, well paid entertainers like Meryl Streep, and tycoons like Warren Buffet) and they ignore graduates who can't find jobs with their degree that usually doesn't tell an employer much. Here's how averages can be misleading....suppose you are with a group of friends at a BBQ, and then Bill Gates walks in...the "average" expected lifelong income artificially and deceitfully springs much higher.
I'm surprised that anyone from the CSU system would respond to your poorly researched travesty of a letter. By the way, it does make sense that the Government is made richer by the incomes of CSU graduates since it is a STATE school funded by taxpayer moneys. Seriously, if you don't understand the concept of State Colleges and Universities, maybe you should go back to school. Finally, the nerve of you putting them down for answering your letter. You really have no shame or brains.
First of all, they are state schools not government colleges and secondly, maybe you should go back to school and learn something. If you have a problem with "government" colleges, then you ultimately have a problem with the U.S Congress who approved the Morrill Land Grant Act in 1862 and President Abraham Lincoln who signed it into law. This act paved the way for the formation of state colleges and universities across this great land. America, love it or leave it, you anarchist commie!
My training from US Navy was more marketable than my college degree, including a MBA. I regret paying for a MBA degree. I was making a killing just as a grunt than being a manager.
Well you just got confirmation of that "academic arrogance". These types couldn't tell the truth if their lives depended on it. Remember, they were taught in college that, "there are many truths, and your truth is not necessarily my truth! College kills the mind, not just the pocket book!
the thing that makes me the most upset, is the fact that my parents worked their entire lives so that I might go to college. College these days costs so much more then it ever did in their day, and is worth so much less.
Most material that is taught can be found at your local library for FREE
It isn't because I am lazy, It all just seems futile to me. And I think a lot of people, students and teachers, are just delusional and want to believe the hype because admitting the truth would be a huge blow to their egos. A lot of younger people are realizing this. If you go to any college campus you can see the despair on their faces. Most people don't want to be there and are only there because that is what society makes them think they need and scares them into conforming to the standard
Yeah all the stuff she wrote in that letter was the same propaganda that was pounded in my head since childhood. Society basically makes you feel like a loser if you choose not to go to college. So I worked my butt off to save enough cash to go to college. I am now two years in and see what a waste of time and money it was for me. I am going to take my last two classes to get my AA degree and then quit. I am sick of all of this pressure and people calling me lazy because I want to leave.
As you said before, only technical degrees are worth anything. They play on the dreams of students, saying just follow your passions, and you will earn a million more dollars. Sorry to the english and sociology majors, it was a trap.
What a shameless advertisement for their garbage. Anyone who's taken an economics class would be familiar with the concept of invisible words in advertising. Obviously, these words can be used anywhere. "On average, we believe". That just implies that they cannot prove anything. That entire letter was obviously two pages of "C$U is awesome!" Anyone else notice how she said we believe C$U GRADUATES... not all graduates, People like her are paid to feed bullshit to the sheep.
I just paused my university study on Computer Science because I found it to be absolutely out-dated. They are teaching langauges and coding methods used 15 years ago.
@SpicyHam You're most likely right, but it's also important to score internships which can often be used for course credit. Employers love relevant work experience. However, I obviously agree with the uploader's assertion that a bachelor's (from the CSU system or pretty much anywhere else) doesn't add a million of value over a lifetime, although if we experience hyperinflation, it might!
They know that statement is false. It is a marketing gimmick to get more kids to go to college and pay exorbitant fees. They is no way to prove or guarantee a college grad will make a million dollars more than a high school grad.
Never fear my friend, the great college crash is upon us. I even saw an article a short time ago where a recent graduate is suing her college for the 70,000 in tuition because she can't find work. Sure go to college as the great empire America goes into permanent decline sounds like a great idea to me. At least if you want to live a life of debt peonage when you get that coveted piece of paper that is.
your good! that was stupid how the lady responded by not talking about the 1 mill. comment u made. stupid fake officials.

If you get a series 6 license you have a greater chance of making a million dollars than someone who has more degrees than the sun.

No smart or educated person goes to college because they heard a radio or tv ad say something about earning a million dollars over a lifetime.
People go to college:
1) to obtain a credential aka degree
2) to study a specific discipline
3) to get drunk, party and have a good time.
No skewed average of grads or a million dollar lie is going to change that.
My advice: go to college for 1and 2 though 3 is also a lot of fun as well.

Four years of college and my sister came back a vegetarian. She says, "I can't eat anything with a face on it."
She has no problem with leather shoes that once had a face!

@ytmachx That's actually vegan. Vegans don't wear leather.

Because of their stupidity I have trouble paying for school. It would be cheaper if college was allowed to opperate on the free market entirely.
