I did the 2-hand tapping, I just personally find it easier, for this song at least, to press the buttons for the low notes each time they come up, instead of holding it. Helps me stay on the beat more easily.

That missing SP phrase is from 1:06 to 1:08 in the video. I had Star Power activated over it, which is why I didn't get that phrase... there's really no better way to do that section other than to waste that phrase.

No... I couldn't. By examining the note chart, and calculating possible scores, I couldn't find any way to use that last SP phrase that would get me a higher score than I could by ignoring it... the end wankery just isn't long enough to be worth saving SP for.

actually it does, notice how they only do it on sp phrases, and the meter goes up faster. But it only does it on sp phrases, it even says so in the tutorials

axeboyunlimited12 is right that whammying only makes a difference on held notes in SP phrases, nowhere else, and COMPUTERN3RD is right that it doesn't matter how fast you whammy... whammying slowly will get you the same amount of SP as whammying really fast, as long as it's moving, it's always the same. I whammy that fast simply because it's a comfortable speed for me.

Doesn't work that way. The only time that works, is when you're playing a single note... you can have lower note buttons held down, but not higher ones. And it doesn't work at all for chords.
