Box Hill is pretty safe though, honest, in all the time I lived there, I only witnessed one stabbing (not on the news) outside a vietnamise restaurant, which was an internal dispute, and only saw one physical fight, which was between some tall badass Sudanese africans, I never saw any chinese fight or stab eachother, so I think it's pretty safe there and the rumours are false, it makes sense Chinese like box hill better than Victoria Street.

I will say though, Abbotsford (further up the tram line) is much worse, with graffiti, old vegetables and everything else dumped between North Richmond station and Victoria Gardens. Really crappy pokie venue there too.

A good round up of some areas of my hometown. However you need to remember that Box Hill is not only a Chinese suburb. Box Hill is a proud multicultural suburb, and central hub for transport and shopping in the inner eastern suburbs.
