I like the early stuff with Uli Roth the best , Fly to the Rainbow , Intrance and Virgen Killer. those 3 recordings at the time they were released were the hardest rock going. The next recording was a transition Once they had Matias it was a whole new thing. Good music good Vocals and guitar.
@ibmorjamn Amen brother, so many people think the scorps started with Rock you like hurricane. The old stuff is very Black Sabbath/Jimi Hendrix influenced.... did you know that Uli Jon Roth married the Japanese girl that JimiHendrix was engaged to when he died....Check out a release from the band called Electric Sun if you are a fan of Uli you'll love it
Agreed. Uli Jon Roth era. I use to look for "The Scorpions" in the "Import" section at my local record shop--(many moons ago). Happy for them they found commercial success--did not change my opinion of them.
My husband recently bought one of those stereo cabinet, old school stereo systems that has a turntable and a WORKING 8 track player. Looks like I'm on the hunt for all the old vinyl! ( and 8 track tapes LOL. )
If you can, look for the original Lonesome Crow *(Rare and first album) also you have to get Tokyo Tapes on vinyl, that is THE best live album of all time.
Easy if your in a bigger city. Used record shops are great but you have to come back over and over as the stock usually changes. I got all the old Scorps. Most I bought young in the early 80's but you can find them for cheap. Lonesome Crow was also bootlegged in some countries. I have the original plus one that I play called Easy Action. 8 track's you can get for 99 cents sometimes.
@GrandMeadowStone Im going through all their music and I'm starting to form that same opinion. All I was really familiar with before I started was The Zoo, Rock you like a Hurr., and No one like you.
Scorpions are a great band, unfortunately they get absolutely no commercial radio airplay for their 70s music.I still keep all their vinyl records because the music is too good to lose.
I've got all of their early music on vinyl as well. I never get tired of listening to it. They are my favorite rock band. It's such tasteful, but cool writing - all the way around.
