They're blaming this on his school? They act like they aren't the ultimate controllers in the life of their child. I was bullied terribly when I was younger and my mom raised hell with the principal and teachers and then eventually pulled me out of that school and got me moved. Perhaps the school should be suing his parents for their failure to stop him from suicide. Afterall, the school had him for 7 hrs a day they had the other 17 hrs.

I came back to the same school 4 8th grade after leaving it at 6th grade. Soon enough the picking on began again. You can't have it both ways.. You cannot have schools where no children ever get expelled and also have schools that do not have bullies. The United States is too permissive and our children do not learn, do not control themselves, and are far behind their peers in other countries.

That's what compulsory school-attendance is all about, i.e. breaking people down so that they'll do whatever they're told, and learning that the have no rights. Then when they go running to the school authorities then it just adds insult to injury, since they take ineffective action, and then the school said "well we did enough, so it must be YOUR fault."

This is crap.... I felt that way as a teenager and came close to suicide a few times. I was not bullied in any way. Some people are emotionally disturbed for whatever reason. It was the parents and childs fault for the suicide. Children at school get bullied all the time. It is a part of growing up and hopefully grown out of. And WTF is up with parents these days? For some reason they have NO concept of discipline whatsoever. I've worked with kids at camp for several years and their level of discipline just gets worse--if the parents don't do anything, then their kids are going to end up possibly being terrors that cause this kind of thing to happen. It wouldn't hurt to say "NO" once in awhile, especially if your kid needs to hear it.

I came back to the same school 4 8th grade after leaving it at 6th grade. Soon enough the picking on began again. As a boy the only way I got to ease the bullying was by fighting back whether it be verbal or physical. Forget what "civilized" people saying about defending yourself. DO IT and you will feel so much better and stronger. Bully's torment those who are easily affected and hurt. So be strong and show them you are not weak.

I am basically "bullied" by my dad, I can take that, but not everyone in my class. I fell very dark all the time as my friends are in different class periods (I have one fairly good friend in my homeroom, but he is in the same morning period as my other friends).
