The blues got two solid nhl players for Stemper and the Leafs just traded him to PHO and got a 4th and a 7th...thats a terrible return IMO

This is great. As a Blues fan and probably the bigget Stempniak fan. Your going to love him. He hit a rut and just couldn't dig himself out last season. But when he's hot, he's hot. Steen has been a disappointment of a 1st rounder to say the least, same thing with Colaiacovo. Stempniak will be a great addition, he's young, huge upside, has scored 27 goals before. Steen will probably end up with the likes of Boyes, Wellwood, Sullivan, McCauley, etc, guys who never got a chance with Toronto who made respectable careers after leaving.

Stempniak is a honest period with his three goals and 10 assists in 14 games with St. Louis this season. But nothing to jump of a bridge. At 25 he still have good time to give. The jungle in Toronto is highly civilized compare to the treatment reserved by some Habs fans for our hockey players in Montreal. Do you think Brian Burke was pulling the strings? If he was then I am fine with this trade, if not, then the sooner Cliff is gone, the better. Seems kind of strange for a team that is supposably re-building to get a player in return who is only signed for 1 more season, then he becomes an unrestricted free-agent. I was expecting draft picks, not another potentially over-paid forward who has had one good NHL season.

I'm not exactly sure if you were angry or happy about this trade. As for me, I think it's good. We had too many defensemen, and some extra forwards, so we traded away two of them who had never lived up to their potential. I liked Colaiacovo, but the sad truth is, he was never healthy. It's a shame, but kind of necessary. So, good luck Steen, good luck Colaiacovo, and I hope Stempniak can live up to the between 20 and 30 goal mark, because if he can, the Leafs win this trade big!

I always liked him and believed that he could be a very solid defenseman, but jeeze i dont think ive seen one player so prone to injury in my life time. Steen, with all the injuries that the blues have its not unlikely that he could break out.
