Did you get the officer's name and badge number? I'd've reported him just for calling me a dickhead and cursing at me... conduct unbecoming an officer of the law is usually a reprimand, but it goes on an officer's record and can impact pay raises, promotions, and bonuses. Plus, if he's doing it all the time, it puts his job on the line. All of that is not withstanding the fact that it sounds like he may have entered the premises illegally.
@lokaissogood the door wasn't locked, we sure are some huge dripping pussies for that. We're even bigger hairy-er pussies for catching him breaking procedure on tape, turning it in to the news, and getting his ass fired. Nice troll attempt tho.
You don't need to have a law degree to know that you should have a search warrant for entering a closed-off, private home. If he came because of some disturbance, I don't know, but that's the calmest party I've ever seen. Cops wait for worse cases of partying and loud disturbance before they care to give a shit.
@SuperSultan1988: You misunderstood the question. Here, let me answer t for you:
Police cannot enter or search a house based just on probable cause. Probable cause is what is needed to be brought in front of a judge, who will then decide if the information justifies the issuing of a search warrant.
If an officer knocks on my door and says "I have probable cause to come in." Then I'd simply say "OK, come on back with a valid warrant and I'll allow you in."
you stupid son of a bitch, why you have to be an asshole, I guess you are about the only one there that hasnt arrested me at least once, lookin forward to it jerkoff
that's way police should be payed like a dollar an hour cuz they suck ass at being a person, cuz their all assholes, well most of them, ill admit there are a few ok ones
If this happened to me I would dial 911 saying that there is an officer in my house without a warrant or even probable cause, not currently convicting anyone of any crimes and refusing to leave, and that I have the reasoning to believe he is under false identity, impersonating a police officer with possibly a stolen badge and uniform due to his lack of professionalism and blatant disregard for the law and I fear my life and my property may be in danger.
Dude you were acting like a smart ass punk that cop was very patient with you antagonizing him. Better hope he never pulls you over later because I promise he will remember you
@mrpicky510 You got the whole thing on tape except for the things you CLAIM happened? LOL! I think you're exaggerating to make the situation worse than it was. There's no issue of an officer going through a closed door if there is probable cause for them to search the residence. That's what a search is. The officer was out of line speaking the way he did. But I imagine his frustration was over the teenager who thought he had a law degree and understood the law.
If you have a party make sure to tell everyone that only you answer the door. Never open the door for or invite a pirate into your home. If they barge in dont have a conversation, demand to see a warrent, no warrent, ask them to leave. They refuse to leave ask for a supervisor. Its that simple, weather they cooperate remains to be seen but it makes your lawyers job alot easier if they find any contraband, or when you file a civil suit. Know your rights people, and exercise them.
@websslinger First of all I noticed my miss spelling but was too lazy to fix. To the rest of your comment, my info came from my father in law, an elected family court judge, ill stick with his legal advice thanks. I do not believe I said anything different than you, just stated in a different way. If the pirates have a legal justification for entry into your home they will kick the door down, don't just let them in. What felony have I commited by demanding a warrant and supervisor?
@airbornepatriot1It's true, we are making similar statements. My point is simply that warrants aren't always required and neither are supervisors. I could easily see someone becoming so fixated on "demanding" to see one or the other, to the point that they are interfering with an investigation, and be charged with obstructing (felony). Ya know, how some people tend to sound like a broken record (like the kid in the video) - only more boisterous and agitating.
@websslinger I get your point about using the word demand. I meant nothing by it but bold wording to get people thinking about exercising there rights. I am no lawyer and never claimed what I was saying was legal advice. I hope no one comes to youtube for legal advice. That is why in the last line of my statement I suggest people know there rights. Sometimes it is hard to find the best wording to convy your message in a limited space. By the way, f@#k you for the CSI statement. haha
@airbornepatriot1 LOL! I wasn't directing the CSI statement towards you personally. I really just meant it as a general comment. You're right, it's like you have to use "strong" words to get your message across in this limited space, and in doing so, the messages become a bit altered. Sorry - no insult was intended.
@websslinger No offence taken. I enjoy a little debate with someone who seems to have some iq. You should find some more of my postings and rip me again. No more spelling comments though.
poor po po they dont know the law is that simple? It only takes a law degree if you wanna make money out of it. I see a possible 30 lawsuits against Denton all because a grumpy old man has to go to music parties all night long. poor po po
A good swift kick in the nuts with a pair of steel toe boots, then you shove his night stick up his ass, and tazer him till the battery dies, then while he's on conscious put make-up on him, dress him up in women's clothes take pics, for the internet, and throw him in his squad car.fuckin 20 point IQ, retarded neanderthal,bully,show-off,who thinks he's got the right to walk in anyone house when he feels like it.he's just a little punk, who needs an attitude adjustment.
son! respect my authori-tie! this guy has no right to investigate a residence UNLESS he can present a warrant, but cops can get away with it. they make aressted based on what they think is right.. I have a motorized bike, a motor kit simply attached to the bike, since its under 30 mph, and was a bike when purchased new, its still a bike by law, I got pulled over on it and the cop told me it was a moped and I need a plate & license, I explained to him the law, he made me pedal 5 miles home.
And for the guy who left a message about making a point. No the point is never made and will not be made until these officers are under control and apologize for being out of line or are removed from their positions. Video recording can be a beautiful thing.
Very disrespectful officer. This is typical of a declining empire such as the United States. The police state started a long time ago and is now in full force. Meanwhile officers are caught for drug trafficking and other crimes. This officer will some day be on the other side of the law and asking for help and will realize he is worthless. His choice of words was out of line. I suppose that's because he barely made it through high school.
They took care of no search warrant. It only takes 10 minutes now. The judge is not happy about having to be on call along with prosecutor but what the hell, the fines went up and community server along with fines for all who were there.
I would have told him to leave. The guy living there obviously doesn't understand his rights. If he failed to comply immediately I would have called 911.
I lived in Denton from '91 to '01. My review of the law enforcement there is: "Utter Douchebaggary". You never had a pleasent encounter with them.
My favorite was their routine roadblocks at high traffic chokepoints in the middle of the day in order to wrack up minor violation citations so that they could meet quotas for the month.
The same can go for Lake Dallas. All other cities and towns I've lived in have been much better.
From what I hear (and from some experience...) Denton police are notorious for this sort of thing. The best thing you can do is know your rights and bring unlawful police conduct to the surface so that power tripping might become less frequent. Kudos on the footage
@jhweather - You're completely off your rocker if you think a police officer's job is to serve and protect you. They are there to actively pursue, detain, and incarcerate anyone they deem to be breaking the law. Police officers do not have a law degree, they receive a sub-standard education when it comes to understanding the law as a lawyer would. They have the ability to arrest you based on THEIR understanding of the law, not as how it really reads.
@Bamont - Assuming the OP's story is accurate, then the officer entered the scene without probable cause, he's not allowed to do that, and he knows that. It's covered in basic training.
There could be more to the story, there is only one (incomplete)side here, that could have given him probable cause. But to leave your public servants unchecked is generally a bad idea.
This cop was definitely on a power trip. Government servants who think that they are above the law should be fired. This is outrageous! Stepping into a house without consent or warrant.
College Kids trying to be smart A's... If they would have kept their mouths shut and just found the home owner or someone that lived there.. it would have ended faster... but of course no cooperation from anyone cause they are all punk kids who think they know everything
@Sully966 People like you show that they don't care if their rights are taken away. If a time comes when you need the protection of the Constitution and it is no longer law, then what will you say? The nation was based on freedom, including right to be secure in homes. I applaud the young adult for his courage. Speaking up does not break the law. Cowering in fear is sad.
I seen on the NBC evening news, four Cops were killed, Execution style. At a cafe, before there shift started, in Washington State. The Killer remains at large...11/29/2009. Was it something as meaningless as this that pushed him to this horrible crime?
While I understand your point about invading a residence without probable cause or permission does violate the 4th amendment right of the person who lives there, it doesn't apply to you in this case. Him making statements about you not having a law degree is at all relevant, because guess what, neither does he. In fact, cops are often wrong about probable cause and searches, enough to where many offenses are thrown out. Next time, if it isn't your house, keep your mouth shut.
@Bamont The main job of police officers is that they serve and protect us. This police officer is power tripping. Also, when dealing with residences, probable cause is not enough for the officer to invade. There is no law that forbids people from speaking. Everyone has the right to remain silent, but they also have a right to speak. There is no law forbidding questioning the authority of the police officer.
@bsgkaraoke LOL like that officer put his life on the line to protect those kids. True, they were trespassing, but that cop should be censured for acting in an unprofessional manner. I can't stand how people hero-worship soldiers and cops. Cops do not demand ultimate respect. The cop is your enemy in this case (and in most cases.) You think he's comin to your door to PROTECT you?
More likely than not, they got a noise complaint, and the cop knew it was a party. He will probably claimed to have smelled marijuana outside the residence, and entered the house in order to prevent the destruction of evidence.
They are still supposed to knock first. Unless it is a real emergency, like someone getting murdered or raped.
I don't care if I am doing nothing wrong or not. I don't want the police walking into my house unannounced asking who me owns the place. Fucking Gestapo style.
Officer Dooley is an ass. I hope this video stays up forever. Denton is a cool community but due to officers like him, law enforcement is being given a bad name.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Have you proved your point yet?
Over the last 2 years 64,296 people have viewed this along with 593 people have left comments. I think you have exercised your right to freedom of expression and your voice has been heard. Denton is a great community and I would prefer you pull the clip as it unfairly represents the community as a whole. This is old news.
@SilkOlive cool bro i dont think you should take down any of your vids either and if i would have been you i would have filed a law suit against that officer or get him charged with entering with out breaking and i dont know if he found anything wrong there or not but if he did then this video should be used as evidence and the people in the apt called as witnessess any evidence found in that place was of no count after a cop comes in illegally.
YOUTUBERS! MY SLUT OF AN EXGIRLFRIEND CHEATED ON ME! IM GETTING REVENGE! CLICK MY PROFILE TO GET HER NUDES SHE SENT ME! AND THE FULL STORY ON WHAT HAPPENED!
HAHA you are funny sir. You would just love for this clip to be pulled, we can just sweep all of the police brutality and corruptness right under the rug right? I can't wait until they pull you out of your car and rip it to shreds to find something that isn't even there....just so they can prove to you that they are doing their job. They wont pay for any of the damage either they will just say 'sorry' i thought you were a 'doper'. Denton police are the worst!
@TheHoundawg if Denton is a great community, you should post videos of things you see as positive. why should he take his off? why should you or anyone else tell him to pull his vid? it's one thing to answer a post you don't like with one of your own, telling him to pull his is something else entirely.
@TheHoundawg fuck you pig . freedom of expression is never ending . this is not a representation of the comunity as a whole . only a representation of one asshole who thinks his badge gives him the right to open his cockholster and talk to people like they are somehow below him . he (YOU) should not forget he is a public servant . if you are not the asshole in question you probably know the pussy .
You are a dickhead. He stated that he was looking for the person who lived at the residence. Also by not telling him who lived there, you are interfering with an investigation.
You should give a copy of this video to the Internal Affairs Division of Denton PD and file a complaint with it. What the video documented that the cop did wrong was conduct unbecoming an officer and he may have entered the residence unlawfully. In your jurisdiction there is something like Rules Of Professional Conduct or the police equivalent. I know the cop has to follow the Texas Statutes.
shove that ID request right back up his ass. you don't need "ID" to be at a party, and he can't demand it. it's simply an intimidation tactic with built-in subject change.
I like the shake in his voice at the end, probably because you could very well have a law degree or be well on your way and he knows it. he knows that almost everyone in that room is smarter then he.
Wow, notice how the guy does not get the cop "barging in". He also somehow does not get the cop calling him names on camera either, how strange!!!
TEBON- Do not act like you know it all. If the cops get called to investigate a crime, they have every, motherfucking right to be in your house. FYI: It is illegal to shoot someone to protect your property, you are NOT justified to shoot anyone just because they come into your house. The reason us cops carry guns around is to protect our LIVES.
ive had an experience like this... best way to think about it is a officer can do what ever he wants unless you have some damn good proof...
We had a party one night and we saw a cop pulling up the road so everyone went in the house. Another cop shows up and they climb through a window, taser my friend and send him to jail for "assaulting an officer". My buddy was able to get the charge reduced to a misdemeanor.
as far as in the united states, tebon is right on the money. save for the the part about shooting at the police, that's never a good idea.
if they did force their way into your home without cause or warrant you'd most likely have any evidence they found dismissed in court, so save your bullets 8P
never open the door, never show ID. . . just because a policeman comes to your door doesn't mean you have to open it. Best idea: stay watching television, and have a gun in the house. You wouldn't let a robber/murderer in your house would you? Then why would you let a cop?
This isn't the movies, you never have to answer anything they say, EVER.
"I don't have anything to show you today."
"get off my property" and then go take a shower so you can't hear them. They'll leave.
Tebon, here is a little experiment for you. Call 911 from your home phone, and as they are answering hang up. The police will arrive in about 15 minutes or less depending on city. Then sit back and yell at them through the door that you don't have to answer the door or show them your ID. At which point you will get lesson in law. At best it will end up with you being detained til they find out who you are, at worst it will end with you dead of lead poisoning.
It sounds like you are very irresponsible with your gun (if you have one). You provide a perfect example of how not to behave. You are who the cops want.
Never answer the door for police, let them come back with a warrant. Never give your ID to a cop, you don't have any to show him. If a cops violates your rights, you can and should hold him accountable in whatever way you like.
Tebon, you sir are going to get people hurt. The only warrant they needed was the call that brought them to that residence. The second that call was received it became an INVESTIGATION. With your advice you are taking a simple turn down your music situation into shooting at police fiasco. Is that what you want? To kill police officers? Anarchy sounds like fun but it usually ends with someone on the slab. So I would pick my battles a little better then a disturbing the peace warning.
no need to lie to the people friend. If a cop comes to your door there is no obligation to open it, respond to them, or anything. IF someone enters your home without your permission you have the right to blow them away. Badge or not, no one has the right to enter someone else's house without their permission. . .PERIOD. I would hate police officers to die in the line of duty, hence why they should be careful when they enter someone's home unlawfully. Never open your door, never show ID.
You see you keep saying this isn't the movies, and you are exactly right, people talk about what rights they have in the movies, without really knowing. Finally you used the word unlawfully, the cop in video was responding to a call, also you hear where door has been shut in his face, the call in of itself made it lawful for him to enter to investigate, the door closing in his face just agitated him. Turning every little thing into armegeddon over something so trivial is a bunch of nonsense.
fat piggy was quite nervous saying 'some law degree'. next time, don't even answer the door and never give them ID, tell them "I don't have any ID FOR YOU to see"
Yea you keep talking Tebon, don't show them any ID. They will figure it out at the station with your sorry dumbass in tow. Oh and by all means don't answer the door. That oughtta stop them. They were answering a call, therefor investigating a crime. And at that point whether you or I like it, they can and will do pretty much anything they want. And hide behind you are interfering with a criminal investigation. And buh bye. And I DO have a law degree.
no, you do not have a law degree. You never have to answer the door for anyone, much less a cop. If they enter you have all the right in the world as a free man to shoot an intruder. .fancy shiny metal on their chest or not. You know better than to spew false information. I have been accosted and ordered to give ID before and I never have, and they've left with tail between their legs. I hope that cops do enter illegally because eventually, they'll get their guns, bullets first.
The limited number of rules considered 'Law' (ie enforceable upon WE the People) in the US is The Constitution, over state Constitutions, over Common Law. Common Law is limited to acts which are shown to have deprived another of WE of something dear; Life, Liberty, and freedom to pursue that which WE please. I call you slave because you have sold yourself to a master and have agreed to hold his statutes, proclamations, ordinances and regulations as law against your fellow man. Shame.
you really have a warped view of the legal system. this is a society, as a price for living in this society you must abide by the laws. i dont understand your problem, do you hate all laws or do you hate only a few specific laws?
by law, Indians aren't allowed within the borders of Massachusetts. Do you think people should obey THOSE laws? Nevermind answering, you're just a stupid fool.
your an idiot, there are hundreds of dumb laws like that in every state. they are stupid and most are unconstitutional. of course they shouldn't be enforced but they also cant be enforced. prosecutors know if they try to enforce it the law will be thrown out by the courts, so they dont waste their time and money to enforce a law that will just make them look stupid and lose the next election. those laws might still be in the books, but thats only because we dont enforce them and challenge them
Police in USA are perfect compared to other countries. Had a property dispute in another country with a neighbor. before the hearing we were called in to make a written statement and the officer said be careful that neighbor can hurt you. See what I mean. You don't know how good you have it here. They may have character problems but at least they are not corrupted. I mean corrupted from the bottom to the top. Be thankful!
when a person is being a dickhead, then they are just a dickhead, when a cop is being a dickhead, then they are corrupt, authoritative, typical, and its such a big deal people have to get it on camera to put it on youtube.
Without a warrant he has no right to enter the house, why haven't you gone and reported this? And question his authority? He's a PUBLIC servant, not a SS stormtrooper(as much as he would like to be).
Typical idiot cop and to make matters worse you clowns played right into his bag of tricks. Congratulations. Self righteous, impotent characters are not needed to expose the corruption, for that matter I see no need for your juvenile antics at all. It's The Politicians that need the heat, not the cops.
Besides. The PEACE OFFICER has no authority other than enjoy the peace between We the People. If compelled by a Free WE in distress as in being attacked by another - the peace officer levels the playing field for the attacked. His intervention usually makes peace. His job is done. Unless one wants to file a complaint and initiate an indictment, which, must be founded BEFORE any arrests or detainment for 'questioning'. His being in the house is illegal. Against REAL law, vice statite, etc.
his being in the house isn't illegal. he was trying to find the residents of the house. he needs the residents of the house to talk too, if they aren't there then he needs probable cause, a noise violation is probable cause.
Slave, loud music is no reason for the arm of the government of the State to enter your home and demand IDs. Read your Constitution. Learn what LAW is, and who may enforce and interpret it.
empty apartment. Just throw a mattress on the floor and call that the bedroom. Maybe if the girls drink enough of the cheap beer you'll get to rub on one of them, or all.
LOL! Yep. I think we've all been in that very home, at that very party.
Don't forget that we look down our noses at the ignorance of others exactly because their ignorance was once ours. If it hadn't been, the manifestation of their ignorance would be unrecognizable to us.
I wonder how many 'three-sheeters' suddenly sobered up in view of the cop.
Don't talk to cops.

All other cities and towns I've lived in have been much better.
bwdevel 1 year ago
From what I hear (and from some experience...) Denton police are notorious for this sort of thing. The best thing you can do is know your rights and bring unlawful police conduct to the surface so that power tripping might become less frequent. Kudos on the footage
corpse891 2 years ago
@jhweather - You're completely off your rocker if you think a police officer's job is to serve and protect you. They are there to actively pursue, detain, and incarcerate anyone they deem to be breaking the law. Police officers do not have a law degree, they receive a sub-standard education when it comes to understanding the law as a lawyer would. They have the ability to arrest you based on THEIR understanding of the law, not as how it really reads.
Bamont 2 years ago 20
@Bamont - Assuming the OP's story is accurate, then the officer entered the scene without probable cause, he's not allowed to do that, and he knows that. It's covered in basic training.
There could be more to the story, there is only one (incomplete)side here, that could have given him probable cause. But to leave your public servants unchecked is generally a bad idea.
bwdevel 1 year ago
@Bamont maybe but cops take "their understanding" and turn it into something else. This cop was not professional in any way.

@Sully966 People like you show that they don't care if their rights are taken away. If a time comes when you need the protection of the Constitution and it is no longer law, then what will you say? Reverendwyotech 2 years ago
Bamont 2 years ago
@Bamont The main job of police officers is that they serve and protect us. This police officer is power tripping. Also, when dealing with residences, probable cause is not enough for the officer to invade. There is no law that forbids people from speaking. Everyone has the right to remain silent, but they also have a right to speak. There is no law forbidding questioning the authority of the police officer.

I know the cop has to follow the Texas Statutes.

ive had an experience like this... best way to think about it is a officer can do what ever he wants unless you have some damn good proof...
We had a party one night and we saw a cop pulling up the road so everyone went in the house. Another cop shows up and they climb through a window, taser my friend and send him to jail for "assaulting an officer". My buddy was able to get the charge reduced to a misdemeanor.
smacroc 2 years ago
as far as in the united states, tebon is right on the money. save for the the part about shooting at the police, that's never a good idea.
if they did force their way into your home without cause or warrant you'd most likely have any evidence they found dismissed in court, so save your bullets 8P
deaftone311 3 years ago
never open the door, never show ID. . . just because a policeman comes to your door doesn't mean you have to open it.
TEBON 3 years ago
Tebon, here is a little experiment for you. Call 911 from your home phone, and as they are answering hang up. The police will arrive in about 15 minutes or less depending on city. Then sit back and yell at them through the door that you don't have to answer the door or show them your ID. At which point you will get lesson in law. At best it will end up with you being detained til they find out who you are, at worst it will end with you dead of lead poisoning.
dwade1962eagle 3 years ago
TEBON- Do not act like you know it all. If the cops get called to investigate a crime, they have every, motherfucking right to be in your house. FYI: It is illegal to shoot someone to protect your property, you are NOT justified to shoot anyone just because they come into your house. The reason us cops carry guns around is to protect our LIVES. It sounds like you are very irresponsible with your gun (if you have one). You provide a perfect example of how not to behave. You are who the cops want.
dmpdtaffae 2 years ago
Never answer the door for police, let them come back with a warrant. Never give your ID to a cop, you don't have any to show him. If a cops violates your rights, you can and should hold him accountable in whatever way you like.
TEBON 3 years ago
Tebon, you sir are going to get people hurt. The only warrant they needed was the call that brought them to that residence. The second that call was received it became an INVESTIGATION. With your advice you are taking a simple turn down your music situation into shooting at police fiasco. Is that what you want? To kill police officers? Anarchy sounds like fun but it usually ends with someone on the slab. So I would pick my battles a little better then a disturbing the peace warning.
dwade1962eagle 3 years ago
no need to lie to the people friend.
TEBON 3 years ago
You see you keep saying this isn't the movies, and you are exactly right, people talk about what rights they have in the movies, without really knowing. Finally you used the word unlawfully, the cop in video was responding to a call, also you hear where door has been shut in his face, the call in of itself made it lawful for him to enter to investigate, the door closing in his face just agitated him. Turning every little thing into armegeddon over something so trivial is a bunch of nonsense.

And hide behind you are interfering with a criminal investigation. And buh bye. And I DO have a law degree.
dwade1962eagle 3 years ago
no, you do not have a law degree. You never have to answer the door for anyone, much less a cop. Shame.

TEBON 3 years ago
your an idiot, there are hundreds of dumb laws like that in every state. they are stupid and most are unconstitutional. of course they shouldn't be enforced but they also cant be enforced. prosecutors know if they try to enforce it the law will be thrown out by the courts, so they dont waste their time and money to enforce a law that will just make them look stupid and lose the next election. those laws might still be in the books, but thats only because we dont enforce them and challenge them

Police in USA are perfect compared to other countries. Had a property dispute in another country with a neighbor. before the hearing we were called in to make a written statement and the officer said be careful that neighbor can hurt you.
