I love these scooters, bullet proof engines, good solid chassis and a timeless classic which will still look stylish and beautiful 50 years from now (a little like Sophia Loren) When all the other scooters have been thrown in the garbage this little Vespa will be still going strong.
Still, I wish Piaggio would make a LX S 200 (air cooled) This would have the right power and the perfect size. The GT's are too big and heavy for scooters, they weigh just as much as some medium sized motorcycles

Who can ever speak bad of Vespa and Piaggio???? ahhh its beautiful i want one! great for the countryside or just downtown! slap in the sidecar and BAM viva la italia!
Does any owner of the Vespa S think that the seat is way too hard? I sat on it a few times and thought that it was surprisingly hard, and somewhat uncomfortable.
It's a Vespa S125 but it has no reflectors in the rear or in the front (US vespas usely come with the reflectors). I'm not American but I'd love to have the reflectors. To do so, I'll have to drill tiny holes. I'm not sure if it's worth it of it's safe...
Don't drill if you don't want to. Grind the back of reflector flat, then try double-sided adhesive tape such as the 3M for automotive application (sold in auto parts store). Good luck!
I agree and who doesn't love a classic. Then again, this is the one is that you can depend on to get you to work; the classic Vespa, however, is the one that you show off on weekends or at rallies and may not be as reliable as a daily commuter.
Come buttare via più di 2000€, nn c'è paragone con la mia vespa 50 l del 65, quella si che è veramente una vespa, consiglio a tutti i veri appassionati della vespa di restaurarne una
@IgnazZangenfeind the lamp is very designful, but if you drive at night with the night lamp its to high, you dont light the street, you light the trees or other stuff on the streetside.
I own one. any ideas how to make it go faster than 60km/h?
Cut the blind tube in the exhaust?
I live in Sweden (45km/h speedlimit built in) Had the "proshop" do the usual 45+ mods and at 60 It now drinks 0.2L/km. Lots of smoke, black sparkplug and a full tank of gas lasts me an afternoon. Great looking bike, that's why i bought it, but I hate almost getting hit from behind by everything including the public transportation bus
Greatful for a PM if anyone out there has one and knows what to do.
I'm considering a Vespa for the city! But I'm not sure about the security of a scooter/motorcycle on a big city. Can anyone share experiences? Thanks!
I am guessing theft is your main concern, and then there is vandalism. First, buy comprehensive insurance (it's required here in US if you're getting a loan--that's if you could still get a loan these days :); next get a security system; then always park in a safe place; and finally, always take the keys out. Risks will always be there; but that shouldn't keep you from owning a Vespa once you've done all that's possible to protect your dream.
Sorry no seatbelt.. You want security you buy a gun and ride the bus. Or buy a modified 1972 Chevy El Camino and dress like the neighbourhood gangster.
ragazzi io volevo acquistare una vespa s 125...sono alto 1,86 m come è l'abitabilità? è comoda per andare fuori città come dice cremonini??? grazie :)
Well, it's the wave of the future, I guess. Not too bad after you get used to the automatic; plus you can pay more attention to the road and the scoots are less prone to break-down.
If it's not a manual shift, it's not really a scooter. Wouldn't it be fabulous if Piaggio actually made a new "real" scoot?! We'll always have the classics... & hopefully a new scoot from another company to carry on the tradition modern Vespa is no longer worthy of.
I agree with you because I used to hold that view about everything. For example saying things like, driving a stick-shift is real driving. In reality, time marches on and so does progress. On any given day riding to work, for example, I would rather take an MP3 than a somewhat-reliable vintage. I love vintage scoots, don't get me wrong; they bring them out for parades, rallies and beauty contests.
The song is "Vespa S" by an Italian pop band called "Luna Pop". It's part of the promotion, I guess. Expected it in the showroom by early 2008 in the form of a 150cc model.

About $3,199 USD for the Vespa S 50.
But there is a promo until end of September '09 that will take $500 off the $4,199 sticker price of the S 150. I would get the S 150!

50 Special--music & words: Cesare Cremonini
I
Vespa rigged,'60s
run in the center tapping 90
red fire, the dance begins
arrows with a plate attached behind
II
Give me a Special, the summer progresses
give me a Vespa and we'll turn this into a holiday!

The Refrain
But how beautiful it is to go around with the wings under our feet
if you have a Vespa Special you take away the problems
But how beautiful it is to go around the Bolognesi hills
if you have a Vespa Special you take away the problems
Refrain II
School's not going well, but I've got my Vespa I don't have a girl, but I've got my Vespa!
Sunday is already here and will bring me a Vespa
out of town!

III
I leave in a hurry, from my room
shifting from the first to fourth
I must make haste, I have to go to a party
make me do a tour first on my Vespa
