She tuned her acoustic guitar to a different octave because she is playing her guitar with bar chords. once you master the bar chords then the minor chords come easy E minor, G Major, C and D minor. these are simply folk chords but then once you get a capo you can play other chords.

No, she's using what are called open chords... just played in different positions verses the basic positions.. open chords give the basic Em A F#maj etc a sweeter sound.. I use these chords all the time..rarely use the basic D's and C's..

I'm pretty confident its a Taylor. Like I'd bet my life on it. And its from the 14 series, but I can't pick what level. Top is spruce, and the back seems to be rosewood, so maybe a special release 314 or 814. The appointments are understated, but it could just be a bit older. It doesn't have the typical obnoxious treble sound of a typical taylor so I think it is a more mature guitar. Unless it is a cedar top and a 714, in which case disregard everything I've said. Haha
