what could possible happen, that after the sun swells and engulfs the earth and becomes bigger, it will then be closer to Europa and so will melt the ice and begin the processes
I dont think theres life on Mars, i may have been in the past because mars use to have oceans but now its a dead planet in my opinion, a very dry and dusty planet with a very weak autmosphere which is getting weaker as time goes on, though mars could be a planet to "Terraform" or planet engineer. Europa could have life under the ice but i have a feeling when a probe finally gets there under the ice, it'll be lifeless for some reason or another.
would be astonishing to find out that there is life on Europa and on Mars. Would give us the idea that life is spread throughout the Universe. Well, thats what i think already
The only way we can really get to mars and do anything great is by terraforming it,which there are a few ways of doing that.Plus the mining capabilities which promises a lot of money to whoever does it.I think Europa would be a better way of spending our money though.Mars has common resources that are rare on earth and are worth a fortune.Mining mars is pretty much the only great thing that can happen.Terraforming it would take a long time.We need to check out Europa.
i say if we dont find life on mars or Europa, we infect the planets with earth organisms(single celled) and allow them to evolve/adapt. You know, just cuz we can.
Cthulhu is down there, sleeping in his sunken city of R'lyeh. Watch the f*ck out if you send probes down there, cause he gonna be pissed off and grumpy if you wake him up after 2.5 billion years.
They should blow up europa and use tug ships to bring the chunks over to mars and throw the water onto mars.maybe that would be enough extra gravity.tee hee
@Fistkid Nasa has found a planet known as "Gliese 581 c". They believes there are life there and when i say life i don't mean bacterias and things like that i mean animal life or even inteligent life. This is true you can look it upp.
@antimatter050: Yup, there is. Has a cute-sounding proposed acrnoym, something like "JIMMO" or "GIMMO". I can't wait, wish they could send it out now! :-)
The ridges that formed look like they are a result of a second set of ice plates underneath that sometimes move and create cracks, where steam is then blown upwards from between those 2nd level cracks.
That steam moves upwards to the underside of the top level of ice (the 1st level). The steam blows and cuts through that top level like a blow torch, sending water vapor up and out, where it immediately freezes, forming the ridges.
If there's water there, there's going to be life. What kind of life--microbial, (in)vertebrate, who knows? The problem, though, is getting an AI probe there capable of penetrating all that ice and then doing its own reconnoitering. But it's so exciting! Besides are our Earth, we don't know of any water oceans anywhere else. Just finding one fucking bacterium would be amazing!!!
@DylanEd16 if there is, maybe the Christians would shut the Hell up after all. Though, the muslims would declare Jihad.... Sometimes I wonder about the life we currently have on Earth.
How have we over populated the planet ? Did you know you can fit ALL of the people on earth in a small US state. In fact , most of the world is wilderness and ocean , we haven't over populated anything , we have just over concentrated ourselves to certain spots.
Before sending people to Europa, I'd like to consider Jupiter's magnetosphere.
I agree the world is getting full, or will get full. What about limiting children (hey India, maybe you could take notes from China), or expanding opportunities for abortion & birth control?
Oh yeah, the Jesus crispies wouldn't tolerate that. Okay, I suppose we could just do famine, war, communicable disease, and natural disaster to control the population.
Is NASA still considering a Europa mission, sending an underwater probe to melt through the ice? The possible enviornment has been equated to Lake Vostok in Antarctica.
That's no moon. THATS THE DEATH STAR!!

I think we'll find lots of life in our solar system that originated from planet Earth. Meteors knocked off Earth hit other planets all the time.

@LifeIsABigPuzzle We will know a few years after the mission starts actually, because it takes so fricken long to get there with current tech.

if there is in fact a sea beneath the icy surface then it is highly likely that there are geothermal vents; therefore, life likely exists.
