  • nogi ftw!

  • why isnt he wearin a shirt lol

  • No Gi fighters are not technical? Please explain because No Gi is still technical as fuck

  • yes master

  • I feel no gi is how it should be done. The gi is fine, but when you're grappling on the streets to defend yourself, your opponents don't have a gi to hold on to.

  • @OnRockIT but they do have jackets and clothes and stuff

  • @brennanww actually that's like the first thing people take off...

  • @DaPrez09 I guess it's all situational, sometimes you take your coat off sometimes you don't. I prefer no gi myself but I can see useful tactics in both depending on the situation you're in.

  • @brennanww true, it also depends on where you are. In Texas it is hot most of the year so nobody wears coats... I agree, it is best to be well rounded.

  • @OnRockIT Yeah, but on the street they do have jackets, shirts, pants, shorts, coats. Gi training is great for street fighting. No Gi is for competition but the techniques can also be applied on the street. You don't REALLY want to go to the ground in a REAL fight anyway. If you do, it better be to break an arm or leg, QUICKLY!

  • @zshakur Haha, indeed.

  • watch?v=4xWu6MDFg1A minotauro said great things about the gi, how is good for no gi.

  • You need both. No ifs or buts.

  • If you don't train to fight mma its really no need to train no gi. If talking about the streets gi training more practical people wear clothes on the street and you can do chokes on a guy even if just wearing a tshirt I seen it done. Sleeve hand chokes in fall winter, spring e.t.c

  • @jaffar1808

    yep, very true

i think it's important to do both instead of one

  • u need both

  • Nogueira was trained with the gi properly to the black belt level. He doesn't advocate completely getting rid of the gi in this video, he's just saying that there are certain aspects of the gi that he doesn't find particularly useful for MMA fighting, which I'm sure almost all BJJ gi players would agree with. Nogueira just says that he wanted to delve and explore no gi more, which is cool.

  • How many Gi sweets or submissions have you seen in ADCC or MMA?

  • I find this highly amusing as this guy, is a bronze medalist at brown belt in the gi, is a black belt in the gi, is a judo black belt in a gi. The proof is in the pudding, look at the adcc winners how many are strictly no-gi?

  • No gi makes alot of sense. MMA fights don't use gi so better to train with no gi.

  • @vaju79 Bj penn trains with the gi, gsp trains with the gi, anderson trains with the gi, lyoto black belt with the gi, nuff said.

  • @GBDazzler i think you hit the nail on the head there, but also all of the ADCC winners throughout the years train with the gi that is proof enough for me.

  • @MESSI490 No doubt, even lesnar aswell trained by "comprido" a world champion in the gi, just last years adcc winners proves it all, popovitch(carlson black belt), rafa mendes(world champion black belt), braulio(black belt world champ), xande(black belt world champ), werdum(black belt world champ), people can't argue with the numbers yet they still make stupid claims, i laugh at some of the nogi guys ragging on about it, how many world champs have they produced? Are they a world champ?

  • @vaju79 BJJ =/= MMA

  • AHMED ROLLS AMIN

check him out next thing in bjj

  • Finally! At least one of the golden boys of jiu jitsu are sticking there neck out there for nogi thank you Nog

  • interesting look at gi vs no gi. i can relate to strong guys getting insane grips on you and not being able to break it. but i was under the impression that gi was slower and therefore more technical. (like a 4 hour game of chess compared to 1 minute bullet chess)

  • I'm glad minds are opening up. I get a lot of dirty looks whenever I mention training only no gi in my jiu jitsu classes.

  • but remember this guy is black belt with the gi, he ain't a beginig . he knows jiujitsu properely b4 he went to no gi. no gi guys are just not technical

  • Not true one bit, are you really trying to say that going all the way through the RG basic path is not technical? Just because no gi guys use over/under hooks instead of holds or lapel grabs does not mean they lack technique. And yes I know there is more to no gi then rubber guard it's just the best point to make...

  • @GHRepresent yes no gi is not technical lol. have you ever rolled before?

  • @GHRepresent no gi guys are just not technical? huh 10th-planet jiu jitsu??

  • @GHRepresent lol not technical.

  • @GHRepresent I disagree, we rep techniques all day until the movements are fluid and smooth. Technique is kind of the point..... Whatever no gi fighters you have rolled with (if any) must have had little experience and in effect no technique. Besides when is "Proper Jiu Jitsu" going to help you on the streets? Nobody wears a gi for you to choke them with.... and in a street fight the first thing that comes off is the jacket or shirt.

  • @GHRepresent You seem to be confused. No gi guys, a lot of the time, put too much physical energy into rolling and not enough technique. That doesn't mean that no-gi isn't technical, it just means the individual isn't training the proper way. With gi, the game is slower and people think about it more, which is why you say this. What I don't understand with the only-gi guys is why they would want to have that technique. Yanking on unbreakable sleeves and collars is unreliable in a fight

  • @GHRepresent jake shields, top grappler in mma. he never trained with a gi
