My mum works for a film festival and we got a copy from the cinema for a day or two and me, my cousins and my big sister immeadeatily swooned when we heard Naveens voice.
naveen is so self centered but god how i love him, i think its awesome bcuz mostly all of the princes have been perfect but naveen has his flaws and tiana makes him a better person, theyre the perfect couple and i love how it wasnt love at first sight
"I didn't expect y'all to answer!" I love how Tiana says that. I've been following TP&TF for so long, basically since when the first annouced it as the Frog Princess. I can't wait for it to come out!
Actually, I think it didn't work because Tiana wasn't a princess. She didn't bother correcting him when he called her that, and the girl in the story was a princess.
I know what you mean, but I don't think the prince character gets very little screen time because they're the hardest to draw. Rather, it's because those movies are so much more about the heroines/princesses than the princes. You can even say that the sole purpose of the prince character's existence is to be the "love interest", and nothing more. That's why they almost always get the least amount of screen time and have the least personality.
Also i don't think technically the male character is the hardest to draw. I believe it all depends on what role the male character plays in the movie. For example: Aladdin, Beast, Hercules etc all have very vivid personality becuz they're the leads in their movies. But the princes in their movies are, like i said, nothing more than "the love interest". They have to be perfect and ideal, which can make them very boring and lacking in personality.
@aku192 That's why I like that sometimes the male character can be the main character in some movies, such as maybe Aladdin, Tarzan, and Quasimodo...in which cases they have very memorable personalities and roles. I think an exception to the rule in in Prince Adam (beast) in beauty and the beast, considering he's probably one of the most emotionally complex and memorable characters in any of Disney's films (in my opinion)
I've been tracking this movie since I was 12, and in the seventh grade. Now I'm 15 and going into the 10th and the excitement just keeps building! I. CAN'T. WAIT. And Naveen is already one of my favorite Prince's. He clearly has a personality, unlike SOME Princes(coughPrinceCharmingandPhillipandEriccough)
I understand what you mean by Carming and Phillip, but i think Eric does have a personality. I think Snow White's Prince is at the top of the "personality-less" list! haha
Snow White's prince DEFINITELY. I used to think Eric had a personality too, but after I thought about it, he's just really kind. and nice. you can't really call him a dreamer, because he doesn't mention any dreams. Or mischevious(Aladdin!) because...well, he isn'tXD. He doesn't have a temper(The beast!)he's just...nice. Which could be considered his personality I suppose. Either way, I'd definitly say Aladdin and The Beast and Naveen are right up there with personality!
Yeah, basically all princes before Beauty and the Beast have no personality. Eric has some but not enough to make him really interesting, personality-wise.
I'd like to see a prince show his weakness or even break down and cry (when it's necessary). Really, there's nothing wrong with a man showing his genuine emotions.
Well the hardest thing in anaimation that an animator is going to do is a human character. The HARDEST thing in animation an animator is going to do a male human.Thats why the Prince character more often than not has the least amount of screen time in a Disney Animated film
I have really good ideas 4 2-D, musical Disney movies:
1) Phantom Tollbooth-It's about a boy, a dog, and a bug trying to rescue 2 princesses from a castle in the land of demons. In this version, the princesses would be forced to marry two of the demons-who want power of the princesses' brothers' lands. The princesses would be Mexican.
2) The Nutcracker-In this version, Clara (sp?) is homeless (if she wasnt, she would have 2 ask her family 2 marry the Nutcracker.) (CONT.)
(CONT.) Dr Drossemier finds Clara singing to God how she wishes that her "Christmas wish" to come true (the wish is to have a family adopt her and someone to fall in love with her.) He feels bad for her and invites her to the Christmas party hes invited to. @ the party, he gives her the Nutcracker (aka the Prince of the Land of the Sweets.) Later, she meets the Mouse King. He falls in love w/ Clara and forces her 2 marry him. The prince rescues Clara and defeats the Mouse King for now. (CONT.)
(CONT.) The Nutcracker reveals himself as the Prince and also reveals the Mouse King froze his mother, the Sugar Plum fairy and turned the Prince into the Nutcracker. The Mouse King then seized the Land of the Sweets afterthat. Clara would join the Nutcracker into a journey to rescue the Sugar Plum Fairy and get back the land. They meet a squirell who got also turned into a Nutcracker and another animal (idk what). (CONT.)
Clara, the Nutcracker, and the animals unfortuanely gets eventually captured by the Mouse King, when they nearly rescued the Sugar Plum Fairy. Clara nearly married the Mouse King, but the Nutcracker and the animals escaped and rescued her. Then, they defeat the Mouse King. The Sugar Plum Fairy is rescued, and the land is free from the Mouse King. The Nutcracker turns into a fairy again and celebrate with a huge banquet to celebrate. Then, the Prince and Clara get married. (CONT.)
I love 2d animation, that's one of the reasons why I'm so excited about the Princess and the Frog movie!! And I love the nutcracker ballet! I will have to check out the 2d animated nutcracker prince. Thanks for sharing! :)
I cannot WAIT for this movie! I'm so excited that I'll be in Disney World when this comes out... I'm going to see it in Downtown Disney, midnight showing if I can!
I am a huge romantic, and I am way older than the average disney channel viewer, lemme tellya. I cannot wait for this! I have a love for cajun/new orleans culture (and hot princes ;) ) and I am seriously counting the minutes away till this is released!
No offense whatsoever but I don't understand why people must state their age (ex: I'm 16 and I...) in order to show their support for this movie (or 2D animation in general). It's as if saying that 2D animation would normally be embarrassing for someone their age to admit liking. This is weird cuz with 3D/CGI movies i don't hear people saying things like "i'm 25 and I can't wait to see this" or something like that.
Apparently, people who are stating their ages are those who appreciate the true spirit and heart of Disney animated classics, and hope that tweens and teens today will do the same.
Basically, they want people to see that there's more to Disney than just Hannah Montana & Jonas Bros and things like that. Does that help?
No, I think you missed my point. It has nothing to do with hannah montana or joans brothers (which i also despise btw). It has everything to do with the fact that the general public still don't take 2D anmation feature seriously enough to consider it "mature" for "older" audience, and by "older" i mean teenager and above. I guess in a way i kind of have answered my own question in my original post, but thanks for the reply anyway.
No I think your wrong. Think about it- WHO is the older croud now? people between 18-35 GREW UP with the classics- Aladdin, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast ect. I think it will have older croud watching because this is the generation that says Disney sold out and is nothing like it used to be. Not only that but shows like South Park and Family guy have been useing cartoons to break down this idea of it only being for kids- gotta love the 70's 80's and 90's babies! they love their cartoons!
not only that but they are doing a movie like they used to- 2D, music (with singing!), charm- no pop songs being stuffed down your throat. I say good for them, I just hope its as good as the standards they made for themselfs.
Did you even read my comments thoroughly before you replied? Again, you like the other guy before you has completely missed my point. I was simply saying people shouldn't think animated films are for kids just because of what they are - animated films (which they still do, unfortunately). This is not even a debate about "who is the older crowd" or their preferences. And I wasn't talking about TV cartoons either. I was only referring to ANIMATED FILMS such as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, etc.
Although I must add that TV cartoons such as South Park or The Family Guy ARE targeted towards the adult audiences in the first place. I mean do you really think it's appropriate to show that kind of stuff to your kids?
calm down, no I didnt see your other posts, but there are 116 posts on here!! AND the reason I said what I said was because of how that post sounded- but it looks like we have the same opinion so, I guess there is really no debate! No I dont think kids should watch SP and the like, my point was it was a 2D cartoon for adults, and that adults now like cartoons because of that awesome generation they grew up in. The Muppets were also ment for adults, but to this day are thought of as a kid show.
sorry about what i said but I was just tired of having to repeat myself all over again, especially when i thought i had made myself very clear to begin with. Anyway I'm glad it's all cleared up now.
LOL! Iove him. I haven't even seen the movie yet, but I already friggin love him. He seems to be so different from the other princes, and in a totally GOOD way. He's hilarious in these few clips we've seen on him, and also UNDENIABLY handsome. ;D
I'm 17 and I can't wait, lol, and I know people well in their 20's and 30'swho would be excited for this. It seems the majority of the people who appreciate the REAL Disney are older. Those who can actually stomach Hannah and the Jonas boys are little kids. I remember when little girls wanted to be princesses. Now I see little girls trying to be famous pop divas who just, like, have to look totally fab. Ugh.
and i was 1 of the little girls who wanted 2 be a princess :) i remember wearing a princess crown randomilly @ school, carying around a princess lunch bag....ahhhhh good times :]
i dont get something. teenagers love THE disney movies like lion king, cinderela, little mermaid etc. but yet they dont want 2 see this! i bet if they were 14 when the lion king came out, they would say its stupid, but b/c they were born in the 90s, they like this. b/c that movie is great. ive grown up with the lion king, beauty and the beast etc. i know princess and the frog will be great. :) and yet im in a age that id say this film would stink. but i cant wait 2 see this!!!!! :D
I guess teenagers these days are too focused on Hannah Montana, the Jonas Bros, and other things on Disney Channel that's been becoming quite annoying lately...
It's not all teenagers; I know some teenagers who saw the trailer w/Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince are excited about this. It'll be a nice change, and besides, once they see more behind the scenes from the movie, they may start to get excited.
god i HATE Hannah montana and jo bros. ive always been rooting for classic 2-D disney to come back. and I'm 15! i grew up on the classics even if they were made way before i was born, it was just what my mom let me watch. thank god!
....I'm a teenager (pouts).....I'm actually gonna be a college student (YAH 17).....But dude omg I DEEPLY DISLIKE all the stuff Disney channel spews out! When they finished with Kim Possible I was like "Goodbye Disney Channel....Hello Nicktoons Network (Tho I'm getting bored with it now)"
it sounds like he's saying the frog prince in some other language, i've run it past a few translation sites and came up w/ nothing. perhaps it's "maldonian"but i'm not sure...
I'm glad to see that Disney returned to the 2D animations, but I think Tiana totally looks like Princess Jasmine... Just look at her - big, almond-shaped - eyes, her facial expression and all her gestures...
I think all disney princesses look alike in one way or another (except maybe Mulan and Pocahontas). also the fact that a lot of the princesses (including Jasmine and Tiana) are drawn by the same animator (Mark Henn) might have something to do with it.
I can totally understand Tiana freaking out about kissing Naveen. I would be so grossed out if I had to kiss a frog. Way to take one for the team Tiana!... except for ya know.... it kind of backfired and turned her into a frog instead of Naveen into a prince...
ya, i am actually a small voice in the movie.. i voice one of the minions.. i cant really give that much info... but feel free to asks questions and most likely i will have a answer
Ok basically all i can tell you is they get married as frogs first.. But since they are now married Naveen is kissing a real princess so he becomes a prince and her likewise and then they have a real wedding.. AHHH ITS SO GOOD
Yeah....this rocks!!!!!!!!!!!! Now THIS is what Disney should focus on, instead of lamebutt stuff like Muppets. This is what people want to see. And Tiana is a triumph. She's going to add so much to the Disney Princess pantheon. I can't wait 'til Xmas!
Sorry, the Frog Prince in Portuguese is "O Príncipe Sapo".
The fact that the "Fraggi Prutto" seems to have the adjective before the noun (If both words were starting with "Fr" and "Pr" seems to me that it can't be in Spanish or Portuguese. I think it's made up. I mean, the guy has an Indian name, a Brazilian voice actor, some French/Spanish accent, and he's from a fictional country. Trust me. The guy's everything. ;)
Great trailer man!! going to watch this in webmovietube

....I'm a teenager (pouts).....I'm actually gonna be a college student (YAH 17).....But dude omg I DEEPLY DISLIKE all the stuff Disney channel spews out! When they finished with Kim Possible I was like "Goodbye Disney Channel....Hello Nicktoons Network (Tho I'm getting bored with it now)"
DeniseBelmont01 2 years ago 6
it sounds like he's saying the frog prince in some other language, i've run it past a few translation sites and came up w/ nothing. perhaps it's "maldonian"but i'm not sure...

that was a joke!

Hello, it's a cartoon AND a fantasy.
fantasyfollower2 2 years ago 4
I'm glad to see that Disney returned to the 2D animations, but I think Tiana totally looks like Princess Jasmine... Just look at her - big, almond-shaped - eyes, her facial expression and all her gestures...
Kriszti881022 2 years ago 7
I think all disney princesses look alike in one way or another (except maybe Mulan and Pocahontas). also the fact that a lot of the princesses (including Jasmine and Tiana) are drawn by the same animator (Mark Henn) might have something to do with it.
aku192 2 years ago 6
OK, I know that they are drawn by the same animator, but its so disappointing:(
I think Mark Henn did a great job when he created Jasmine, but he couldn't add something new to Tiana...
Kriszti881022 2 years ago
He made Tiana left handed...
LucySanchez90 2 years ago 4
But I referred to their appearance (the shape of the eyes, the lips, etc.)...

Was I was kidding, actually.

I can totally understand Tiana freaking out about kissing Naveen. I would be so grossed out if I had to kiss a frog. Way to take one for the team Tiana!... except for ya know.... it kind of backfired and turned her into a frog instead of Naveen into a prince...
ilovepink4life 2 years ago 9
*lol* I like how she freaks out because she's so grossed out by the thought of kissing the frog. ^_^

AnimeAngel166 2 years ago
ya, i am actually a small voice in the movie.. i voice one of the minions.. i cant really give that much info... but feel free to asks questions and most likely i will have a answer
DrFacilier 2 years ago 2
Oh, really!?
Eek, that's awesome! I wish I could voice a character someday, even if its just one little word. -_-;
Hm... I won't bother, I just have one LITTLE question- how does it end, exactly?
I mean, I know the basics, [that a certain character dies, and lati-da..] but I was just wondering. XD
You don't have to answer, I'm just being nosy. =P
AnimeAngel166 2 years ago
you should've asked that question in private. some people might not wanna know.
aku192 2 years ago
Ok basically all i can tell you is they get married as frogs first.. But since they are now married Naveen is kissing a real princess so he becomes a prince and her likewise and then they have a real wedding.. AHHH ITS SO GOOD

HEY, stick a spoiler alert on this would you!

DISNEY IS BACK!!!
fmahave 2 years ago 5
Yeah....this rocks!!!!!!!!!!!! Now THIS is what Disney should focus on, instead of lamebutt stuff like Muppets. This is what people want to see. And Tiana is a triumph. She's going to add so much to the Disney Princess pantheon. I can't wait 'til Xmas!
Yowzahh 2 years ago
The Muppets aren't even close to lame....
It's just the way Disney's using them that is lame. Studio DC is NOT the proper way to use The Muppets.

0:27-0:39: Who knew a prince could be exicited about 1 story? XD Tiana was like, "R you ok? O.o"
1:31-EPIC!!!! XD
1:39-Haha! Poor Tiana!
1:47-That part is cute :)
1:58-2:04: Haha! Naveen was like, "Ohhhh nooo! Shes gonna kill me!!!!"
I like the part where she was moving.

That language that Naveen is speaking is Portugese. Is it?
Btw, Beautiful. I love it. Especially when Naveen says "All women enjoy the kiss of Prince Naveen" AAAAAAHHHH! I'm fangirling
ebonygoddess1000 2 years ago 6
Sorry, the Frog Prince in Portuguese is "O Príncipe Sapo".
The fact that the "Fraggi Prutto" seems to have the adjective before the noun (If both words were starting with "Fr" and "Pr" seems to me that it can't be in Spanish or Portuguese. I think it's made up. I mean, the guy has an Indian name, a Brazilian voice actor, some French/Spanish accent, and he's from a fictional country. Trust me. The guy's everything. ;)
