Let me try to bring a little light to confused minds. Anybody in "free fall" will be going at 9.8m/sec squared, which is acceleration due to gravity + their own initial speed. My point is that this bird shouldn't necessarily win the gold metal of speed when free falling because most falling birds would most likely reach high speeds. What would be the bird's speed in level flight is what should count. Thus the cheetah is the fastest in the WORLD ok? Thx

It is obvious the human is the fastest animal on the planet. The falcon uses it wings and gravity to reach high speeds. We use our brains to invent tools to reach infinitely higher speeds. If we are speaking about pure physical speed, then the falcon loses anyways, because its not flying that fast, its falling that fast, and any animal will fall quickly to the ground from a mile in the air.
