Did thurston just school Cale? Surely, Cale knows that SY play specific alternate tunings (as opposed to being "out of tune") just like La Monte Young & the Dream Syndicate or VU's Ostrich tuning. Must have had too much coffee or something.

if you listen to what john cale was saying, he wasn't saying that specifically sonic youth was playing out of tune, instead he was saying that the scene has that out of tune sound to it. i think thurston moore probably looked a little too closely into his words and to what he was implying.
