  • I LOVED this movie when I was a kid. Still a classic

  • I wonder How many people have smoked pot then sat to watch this throughout the years

  • This movie is depressing.

  • So funny and great in that corny, quirky, real love for the source material kind of way.

  • Part 2 anyone?

  • i grew up with the mad monster party F' nightmare before christmas..

  • I still watch this months seperate from october

  • You know, it always perplexes me when they have characters like Quasimodo in these "horror" films. Granted, I can understand adding Erik from Phantom of the Opera, but other times it seems they just add characters in because of their physical deformities. Its almost as bad as adding the Elephant Man or Rocky Dennis or that little girl who was born without a face or just some random person with down syndrome to the collection.

  • This is available to stream on Netflix, jic no one has mentioned it before.

  • remake time!!

  • Funny story about this movie. When it came out, we bugged our father to take us to see it. I was about 5 years old and was dying to go. When he finally did take us, there was a long line and it sold out and we didn't get in and to this day I've never seen it. I've had the chance to see it on TV, but I've never seen it, LOL.

  • Robot chicken should parody off this since they did rudolf and frosty parodys

  • When I saw the ending, I was immediately thinking of the terminator ending theme.

  • waw, good revival!

  • dang.. where can i get OST?

  • I've never meet someone else that has seen this film :L It was my childhood

  • Rankin-Bass always had good animation and all done by hand and camera....talented people!!!

  • Bringing back the ancient memories.

  • Wasn't the female human named "Francesca"? I remember seeing this movie on a Sunday afternoon when I was a kid.

  • @shmuli9 Actually, it turned out she was a robot, and so was Felix.

  • @AlbinoTanuki Oh, yes, I vaguely remember that...

  • They don't really make animation like this anymore!

  • I remember this when I was young! Wish i could find it on dvd? My kids would love this.

  • @Monicalynn2324 it is on DVD, I have a copy.

  • @mocrg Thanks I found it I ordered it !!! Can't wait!!!

  • @Monicalynn2324 download it and burn in in a dvd

  • mad mad monsters

  • One of my all-time favorite films as a child and still now. They would play it at nauseum during the Halloween season and I watched it every time it played. Wonderful memory. Great movie for both kids and adults. A family classic.

  • @redyapper : yes; it's for all ages! It's not scary at all. It's a really cute movie; your kid will love it!

  • Ok, I know this is a dumb question, but I've never seen this movie: Is this appropriate to show to an 8 year old?

  • Comment removed

  • this movie is a great classic

  • Why is there a question mark in the title?

  • The best!

  • I remember watching this when i was a child.

  • i wonder where tim burton got all his ideas

  • couldn't even guess, although "The Nightmare Before Christmas" does seem like a logical, though not too blatant, progression from this film. :-]

  • @warlockboyburns it was never really any secret. he loved this stuff.

  • Is it possible to upload the entire show? I've never seen this one, and I'm an avid fan of Rankin & Bass productions.

  • you can order it on netflix

  • just buy it on ebay or somewhere else....... it's like 6 or 7 bucks

  • Is it just me, or does Frankenstein look like Ronald Reagan?

  • @Wampyir but not as scary as Reagan.

  • That is the coolest clock! It scared the shit out of me as a kid!

  • Man I haven't seen this for 25 years (I'm 30). All I can remember is the end....."Well Francheska....nobody's perfect, perfect, perfect"

  • You used to see this on a weekend

afternoon on TV till the early 80s, you

never see it anymore. Which is sad when

you think of how movies like Nightmare

    Before Christmas are so popular.

Come to think of it, you never see many

cool movies from the 60s on TV nowadays.AMC did a cool 3 day marathon

of Rock n Roll movies Labor Day week-

end in 2000, they haven't done one since.

  • I watched this when I was little and haven't found it again til now. All I could remember was that Phyllis Diller's laugh freaked me out...

  • lol. at 1:11 it's apparent dracula is an alcoholic..."punch, anyone?" lol. i love that animation wasn't totally appropriate back then but kids still wouldn't get it.

  • he's a mummaayyyy

  • KABOOM!

  • is the favourite Tim Burton movie.

  • not tim burton

  • Tim would only have been 11 when this came out

  • buckethead wrote a song called mad monster party

  • LOL! This was once my FAVORITE Rankin-Bass movie when I was a kid! I own an old VHS version of it and try to watch it at least once a year (generally around Halloween, of course!). I hear rumor that the Rankin-Bass historian is trying to re-release it in 3-D. Let's hope so, that would be so much fun!

  • o_0

  • The Ramones played at the Party!!

  • I'd say more like the Beatles. Notice the beetle on the bass drum?

  • I saw this movie in the 1970's...then i found it on video some years ago...memories,cant get any better than this..my 7 year old plays it all the time.

THE MISFITS used this movie for their MONSTER MASH song/video...check it out!

  • haha great

  • Jan Svankmajer is ten times better

  • This movie was great; I used to watch it whenever it was on the Family Film Festival. I wish I could find a download of the entire film.

  • Tom Hatten was my film school. That clock scared the shit out of me when I was a little kid!

  • The clock? How come I'm not remembering a clock? My most vivid memory is the sketchpad...

  • Amazing. The best of the best...I love this movie. Monsters, puns, great music, and more monsters. Brilliant!

  • Hell yeah! I saw that in a theater in '69! I'd forgotten Phyllis Diller was in it. She's so great! Her laugh was probably the scariest part of the movie! "It's a psickadillic scaring." Ha! That was when psychedelic was a new word! The announcer probably just heard it for the first time before he went on.

  • Rankin Bass how I love thee.

  • Ahhhh this video was sooo great, that movie is one of the best ever

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!

  • I was 8 years old in 67 and that tv spot was enough to make ALL us kids rush out to see it!!! LOL good fun! The rage for that year...

  • I was three when I saw a version of this ad on tv in 1969, Jedialaddin -- ditto! That clock scared me...but I wanted one for Christmas! Come to think of it, I'd still like to have one...

  • it seems pretty clear that the young Tim Burton watched this

  • There never was a love like mine for youuuuuu...
