You know, it always perplexes me when they have characters like Quasimodo in these "horror" films. Granted, I can understand adding Erik from Phantom of the Opera, but other times it seems they just add characters in because of their physical deformities. Its almost as bad as adding the Elephant Man or Rocky Dennis or that little girl who was born without a face or just some random person with down syndrome to the collection.
Funny story about this movie. When it came out, we bugged our father to take us to see it. I was about 5 years old and was dying to go. When he finally did take us, there was a long line and it sold out and we didn't get in and to this day I've never seen it. I've had the chance to see it on TV, but I've never seen it, LOL.
One of my all-time favorite films as a child and still now. They would play it at nauseum during the Halloween season and I watched it every time it played. Wonderful memory. Great movie for both kids and adults. A family classic.
lol. at 1:11 it's apparent dracula is an alcoholic..."punch, anyone?" lol. i love that animation wasn't totally appropriate back then but kids still wouldn't get it.
LOL! This was once my FAVORITE Rankin-Bass movie when I was a kid! I own an old VHS version of it and try to watch it at least once a year (generally around Halloween, of course!). I hear rumor that the Rankin-Bass historian is trying to re-release it in 3-D. Let's hope so, that would be so much fun!
I saw this movie in the 1970's...then i found it on video some years ago...memories,cant get any better than this..my 7 year old plays it all the time.
THE MISFITS used this movie for their MONSTER MASH song/video...check it out!
Hell yeah! I saw that in a theater in '69! I'd forgotten Phyllis Diller was in it. She's so great! Her laugh was probably the scariest part of the movie! "It's a psickadillic scaring." Ha! That was when psychedelic was a new word! The announcer probably just heard it for the first time before he went on.
I was three when I saw a version of this ad on tv in 1969, Jedialaddin -- ditto! That clock scared me...but I wanted one for Christmas! Come to think of it, I'd still like to have one...
I LOVED this movie when I was a kid. Still a classic

Man I haven't seen this for 25 years (I'm 30). All I can remember is the end....."Well Francheska....nobody's perfect, perfect, perfect"
ZakkHaake 2 years ago
You used to see this on a weekend
afternoon on TV till the early 80s, you
never see it anymore. Which is sad when
you think of how movies like Nightmare
Before Christmas are so popular.
Come to think of it, you never see many
cool movies from the 60s on TV nowadays.AMC did a cool 3 day marathon
of Rock n Roll movies Labor Day week-
end in 2000, they haven't done one since.
