The Bulgarian Sounds of rhythm from 5/8", 7/8", 9/8" and 11/8" is available Here on the Balkans and Anatolia more from 200 000 years - same and cleare by today. Also Bulgarian Rituals, folk suits and folk instruments.
I'm not an anthropologist nor a musicologist, and I prefer that the Mystery of the Bulgarian voices remain just that. I just love being smacked by the otherworld-liness of the music. But thanks for the images; they add a dimension to the sound.
Pomaks are Bulgarians, but they saved Muslism and clothers, they dont speak turkish. Gagauzes are oposit. They speak Turkish but they are cristians and have Bulgarians clothes. Both have fluence from Otoman Empire, mixed with Bulgarian culture. Its nothing strange for this lands, all the people are so mixed.Bulgarians/Greeks/Serbian/Romanians - all have same origin, mixed with same blood.
I am from Greece and a my grandmother was from Bulgaria. You are right but Pomaks speak Turkish too, I know that because I have several Pomak friends.
This is only recent influence, Turkey made and is still doing quite an effort to make every muslim from the Balkans a Turk. The politics of some Balkan countries, including Bulgaria and Greece are helping them a lot. Pomaks speak different Bulgarian dialects, each dialect is close to the dialects their Christian neighbours speak. So a pomak from Northern Bulgaria will speak like a Christian from there, and a pomak from the Rhodopes will speak like the Christians from the same place.
Pomacs are actually descendans of ancient thracian tribes, that were adopted slavic dialects, they converted also first to christianism and later to islamism.
if we search the origin we can say that to all the people lived in Balkans. Just some accepted one religion others second. But people are all the same... and they all need same thing, just pick different paths :)

So if I understand rightly, Pomatsi are not Turks even though both are Moslem and may live in Bulgaria. I was at the Narodni Subor in Koprivshtitsa in 1991 the first time that Pomatsi were allowed to perform onstage in their traditional costumes. It was an interesting moment -- some people watching laughed, others seemed almost angry. If I recall rightly, Esil Duran is Turkish, but she clearly loves Bulgarian culture, as we see in the Bulgarian Music Idol videos.
ok but I have to interfere there because I have several Pomak friends in Greece and they definitely speak Turkish too. I am half Bulgarian half Turkish and I can say that they are not very different from Turkish people.
i know. many of them speak now. but it was only excidently in the past, but u do realise that to be mohamedan or Musulmanin doesnt mean to speak Turkish right ?? I was saying that this people are Purge Bulgarians, just their religion is not Cristian but different. and that doenst exaclty mean that they are turkish. I know many of them too, they are great people and i love them, very hard working and good people.
Sure I know that very very well. I did not say that they are Turkish, I said that they are not very different which means they resemble. I know pretty well what kind of warm and nice people they are because some part of my family is Pomak. I love them too.

В гъста са гора влезнали, сред гора равна ливада.
На ливадата сура елен, мома Недельо, Недельо.
Цела сай сфатба пръснала сура елена да гледа.
Млади са сами останали, мома Недельо Недельо.

No, the pomatsi are not Turks.
1. Pomaks speak Bulgarian
2. Their traditions are Bulgarian too, although the costumes are heavily influenced by the Islam.
3. Nothing in common with the Turks except the religion.
These are Bulgarians who converted to Islam during the Ottoman Rule.
