That's great, I am not saying don't, I am saying, it is a phyc test or man's way of working it out instead of God's way. Prov 18:16 I think says.... the gift make way or room for the person. In other words God places it in you and you will find your place to use that gift, to glorify Him. The issue is so many imature people can and may unconsciously manipulate those tests; believing they are one thing, but are created to do something else. But, as you said - Prayer and I think Patience.

Online tests are just phycological tests to see what type of character you have. It is usually used by pastors to place you in a box to fit the "team". Better still, go into prayer and ask God what He has blessed you with don't rely on online tests.

The Lord showed me last year that I am only to judge other ministries as far as whether I will listen to them myself, but not to comment on them, etc. to others in any way that is negative. If it is possible to have more than one spiritual gift, which I believe it is, then is there a single gift that will be more dominant in a believer than all the others?
You know some popular teachers, like Pastor Robert Jefress of Pathway to Victory teach a person can only have "one gift." When I take those online inventory tests my highest ranked gifts, rivaling each other are teaching and prophecy. One test even listed writing and faith as gifts. They aren't spiritual gifts, are they?
Another note on mercy and compassion, it can also accompany the gift of healing. Often in the gospels Jesus was "moved with compassion", before healings and miracles occurred.
One other sign that someone may be a teacher is a love of study and a passion for learning. Often that's the first sign, then they begin to teach and train others as they learn and grow in what they know.

Writing isn't a spiritual gift in the scriptures as far as I know, but I guess it could be a form of the teaching gift - teaching by writing.
