Thats fine then, Although more and more quantities are being put through digital presses. I do agree that a large run static text and images job should only be run litho.
If anyone needs more info on Digital print then a great forum exists:
That HP digi you were talking about sounds very promising..we have a Kodak Digi master which is powder and I am moveing to that today. I ran a heidelberg 5 color for the last 5 years..so I'm in for a decent learning curve.
Enood I agree with what you are saying. I tend to talk in generalities on these videos. I was talking about static pieces with no variability and price differences between digital and offset. If we are talking about variable printing such as what you are talking about where text or pictures change from sheet to sheet, digital printing is the only way to go whether you do 10 sheets or a million sheets. Thanks for your thoughts.
I disagree about digital presses only being viable for anything upto 1000 sheets, how do you recommend a client has say 35'000+ sheets with personalized text and images?
In terms of printing that is the equivalent of 35000 orders one sheet each. So yes, this is for digital printing. For cost reduction, it might be reasonable to asses whether the common existing text/ images (company header, logo, etc.) can be pre-printed on normal offset and print the personalization on a digital printer or on a computer printer after that.
