We call those "röksvamp" in swedish, "røyksopp" in norwegian (both meaning "smokemushroom") because they "smoke" when you push them when they're old. Never seen anyone grow them before though.

@DRcaprice I know this is 2 years late..But the mushroom is probably a 'Puffball', considering it was that big. You could have taken it to eat. They're supposed to be delicious when you fry them in butter. :)

@ElementalHowl it was in the mddle of releasing spores, a nice looking mist was coming out of it, and plus it was kinda orange and white and flat, i meant the diamiter of a basket ball, is that a puffball?

@DRcaprice Hmm..Perhaps not. I don't know a great amount on them so I can't be sure. I only thought it was since people often compare basketballs to puffballs. :)

I wish you could see how big the white-cap mushrooms we grew were in the batch after this one! They completely covered the surface of the box, and when we picked them, there was another all-encompassing layer of whitecaps. You'll just have to wait 'til mushroom season.. (spring).
