It really is a great movie, right up there with Scorsese's Last Temptation (a movie many people naturally had problems with). Another one which would have been good but was sadly never made was by Carl Theodor Dreyer (the script was later published in book form). And I would also recommend ROberto Rosselini's underrated Messiah.
