I was shocked to see my mixed rott was 115lbs at the vet and he is no where near as big as this one is... This is typical. Another grossly estimated weight of a dog. Do people realize how huge 195lbs is? Your Rottie is nice looking but it's tall, not huge. Check out my video of my Mastiff at 1 year old on the vet's scale. He was 140.6 lbs at that age and bigger than your Rott. How can that be? Did you inject 50lbs of mercury into his bones? Come on peeps, any Rott claim over 145lbs, better come with a video on a vet scale!

@bigbuzin555 Well, if that is the case, that dog is not 55lbs bigger! That dog is tall (which leads me to believe it's not full Rottie or it was not from a show quality breeder. It's an absolutely lovely Rott, I'm not arguing that. But it's not 195lbs or even close. I would stake my life on that. Like I said, any rott over 145 should have a video on a vet scale. Humans nearly always grossly inflate dog weights by a large margin!

I wont say if the dog is 195 lbs like every one else because i have no way of actually knowing for sure. But i will say this to people posting rottys as a general rule should not be heavier than 130 MAYBE 140 for males, and even that is pushing it. People need to understand the difference between Large and Giant breeds, just because its a molloser doesnt mean size is better (most working dogs are smaller than there counterparts). 195 is a very unhealthy weight, even for a large mastiff

12 years is a fine lifespan for a big Rottie. My Max was 12 when I had to put him down, also had dropped from 130 down to 90 or so. They let you know when it's time. I sure miss him.

My dog I had to also put down weighed 190-200 and looked the same.

Trust me, I weighed my dog at the vet often.

Right before I put him down he was down to 150.

What a sad day. The bigger they are the shorter time you have with them.

Since she's european maybe she got confused on the weight. I'd put him between 120 and 140. He doesn't seem tall enough to be 195 and of course he's not a long dog either. I think Rotties make great protectors because they have a good temperament but look very intimidating. And, of course, they can be trained for guarding and attack as well, like many dogs.

for the people who underestimate the weight of this animal: rotties are known for being heavy and stocky like that. I know one that is 160 lbs and he's a fuckin tank, but is as sweet as a teddy bear. I would say that Blondie here is just bigger than the average rottie.

That dog is not, in any remote way, 195lbs. People like to throw numbers around without really understanding how those numbers relate to the real world. The dog in this video's back isn't even to the door handle, and his chest is much smaller than a mastiff or even a Dane, both breeds that actually do reach 195lbs. Again, people throw the number out but have no idea how freaking large a 195lb dog is. Go to a dog show. Talk to breeders. Don't make up numbers, you look uneducated.

For example search youtube for "Super cow" you'll see that generations of selective breeding of largest bull with largest cow results in a much bigger muscular cows. So by default they are athletic and have good endurance, they are well muscled and strong, and the only thing that would make these better is being bigger.

@Rotties9292 If you applied the "biggest male and female" rule on a fat dog, say Tosa, French Mastiff etc then it's a problem, but if you applied it on a fit athletic dog like Canish panther, doberman, greyhound etc then it's fine because though dogs are fit in the first place and wont get fat just slightly bigger, which is fine, You can get the Dobi to a Great Dane size and it would still be healthy.(If that's possible anyway).
