I have a '78 Mercury Grand Marquis (Colony Park) Wagon, It has the 460ci Big Block V8. My first car and I absolutely adore it lol. I love these big land yachts hahaha. Great Video!
awesome video...brought back fond memories of when i owned several of those cars pictured.....each one was like a family member. always had a tear in my eye when i sold one.
I remember these FORDS as being big, strong, quiet, comfortable cars with big smooth effortless V8s to haul them around very competently and dependably. My mom had a 67 Country Squire, wish I had it today! Great video...
Incredibly cars. A '66 LTD with a 289 V-8, could get around 25 miles to a gallon of gas. The most beautiful Thunderbirds were the '67 through '71 four door Thunderbirds.
What a great collection. A Friend of my dad here in England owned a black 70 Galaxie LTD from new. What a great car, I just loved the looks but even more so the sound...
@MyChemicalJasper483 Sorry it took so long to respond, you slipped thru a crack and I didnt see your post. The car you asked about is a 1966 Ford Galaxie 500. Thanks for watching!
love those old yank beasts, reminds me of childhood films, bigfoot, national lampoons, short circuit etc..... hard to get one in Ireland, i would love a mid 80's caprice, saloon or estate (or should i say, sadan or wagon)!!
great collection video. i have a 69 ltd 429engine its lots o fun. anyone know what the car at 3:12 is???????i think its a mercury marquis . anyone know where i can find trim parts for a 69 ltd
Yes, the car at 3:12 is a 71 Marquis. As for 69' LTD parts, they are all over here and there in boneyards. I see them in both Indiana, and Michigan. Good luck with yours bro.
yep its a 71.. my first car was the wagon version, 71 Merc Marquis Colony Park, last year of the high octane 429 with 4bbl, hvy duty c6 and 9" with 3:00 with limited slip, was set up from the factory for towing a airstream so it had 1 ton springs in the rear. Nothing like having way to much power in a 3 ton ride when your 16 8p
Excellent excellent video. I loved those wagons when i was a kid. My mom had a 1977 white squire and she was so dang proud of that car. She smiled everytime she drove it and there was no food allowed!!! THanks for posting the memory
Damn that brings back so many memories, my uncle had one and he would always leave it over our house at times, I remember climbing in and out of it as a lil kid..15 years later I tried finding one so I got the next best thing an
nice video! : ) we are family! these LTD's are so cool! personally i like them better than there competitors of the time, the flip head lights are really cool! : ) and thanks for putting this video together! 5 *****
I just wonder how these monsters came to be...who actually needs a 7,5 litre engine??I have a '72 LTD,love to drive it,but...Hey,lets compare it to a Volvo station wagon, more complying to Scandinavian childhood memories:More inner room than a squire?No..slightly less, but not much.Better engine?Well, they only need 2,3 litres to haul a camper in decent pace,so...Better mileage?Well,we used to make fun of Volvos with campers(I can hear his wallet scream (my ol' man had a Renault 16)but that 460...
These monsters were indeed big behemoths, they were created to provide one thing that even the reliable, and safe Volvo could not do. Tow a 27' travel trailer, while carrying a family of 5, with dog, and all in smooth riding comfort. They were the SUV's of the day from the 50's thru the mid 80's. I have a 77' Country Squire, a 77' LTD sedan, a 78' Thunderbird, and of course my hearse as a collection. All these cars appear in my various videos. Thanks for watching, and enjoy that 72' LTD.
In America, everything is big,not least cars and engines..Just wonder why.Cars of these sizes are virtually non-existent in Europe. And most American cars run on gas, even medium-sized trucks!Ok,the diesel is slightly more expensive, but you'll double the mpg.The 351 in my ltd has identical torque and hp figures as a modern 2 litre turbodiesel!Needless to say,the latter provides far better fuel economy. But economy doesnt sell in America, its almost as if youre not interested.
Yes they certainly did, when I put this video together, I sort have pulled these pictures on purpose, because todays cars have no style and no class whatsoever. I remember as I was growing up our 77' Country Squire, and our 78' Grand Marquis had them. My freinds would always ask my mom to "turn on the lights" to watch the doors open and close. Thanks for posting, have a great day.
dont see 77-79 cougars any more drove a 79in 80 at dollar rent a car still rem it a blue chamos ed blue /gold bucket set it was a rare car then love have it .i
Very sharp looking Thunderbirds. I had a 79 Town Landau T bird. I bought a 83 Lincoln Mark VI that was a rare edition. I hated to part with the T bird, but I could only keep one car. Wish they would come back out with a full size wagon, without the woodgrain. I would much better drive a wagon than a minivan. At least it is still a car. I currently drive a near mint 85 Lincoln Town Car signature Series. The 85's are getting very scarce now.
I love these big old Fords. Back in England as a kid my dads best friend drove a beautiful black 70 4-door LTD with Crager SS wheels. I'll have one of my own someday soon...
I hope so, I'm due to return back to England soon. But I'll be back once again searching, hopefully in the New Year. Unless something turns up on eBay
We had a 1973 Country Squire. Whenever we'd go somewhere very far off, my brother and I HAD to always sit in the very back on the jump seats that raised up out of the floor. Thought they were so neat! Ours didn't have the game table though.
The 1969 and 1970 Country Squire were such well-executed designs. Ford really was a master of the class back then. Wish they would bring back a full-size, rear wheel drive wagon.
Great job. I grew up with the 70's Squires. Loved those cars, they were defiantly a robust wagon. Also, loved the looks of most of the 60's and 70's Big Fords and Mercury's. Nice job.
FORD´S SUCK ASS!!!!!!!!!!!! now that I have your attention, FORD is the best car manoufacturer ever.
