One thing I've never understood about Judo,perhaps someone can explain it to me, why is it you guys always learn to grab from the gi before throwing or executing any technique, when on the street no one is going to be wearing a gi ? One the street where regular clothing is worn, if you grab it will probably ripp out of your hands before you can throw the person or applying a choke.

@asoka2000 Judo is a sport. But outside of a tournament, grabs, chokes, arm bars and throws can be executed with or without using clothing. Some attacks can be replaced with strikes. A trained Judoka would have absolutely no problem executing moves in any fight.

@lalalallaallala It doesn't hurt if you know how to fall and if there a mat beneath you ( srry don't know the english word for it) i once throwed my opponent from my shoulder (throw on one leg) on the gym floor (ACCIDENTLY) and he broke 2 or 3 ribs. :S but you're thorwed by surprise it's mostly just shock.

btw Real wrestling is cool too lots of the technique's to get your opponent on their back are the same as in judo.

Im currently learning judo after six years of wrestling and i do notice that most of the throws in judo is almost identical to wrestling throws, you just hold you opponent in a diffrent way : wrestling you hold the body parts and in judo you hold on to the white suit/dress/jacket. so im having a easy time learning judo =D

But im a little uncomfortable with the choke and arm locks but Im working on it :P

@deadman20008 The difference of rules is that in Judo you cannot touch the face to get out of positions on the ground,at least that's what I've been told. I know you definitely can in wrestling though because I've wrestled for several years. Also in Judo you can get points just by taking the person to the ground with a throw or take-down, in wrestling or at least submission wrestling you win when your opponet taps out or when a referee breaks up the competition. Wrestling is not about points.
