放置されてたということは、補給を断たれ、機体を飛び立たせる燃­料すら底をついていたということです。残された日本兵の方々の常­軌を逸する島での飢えと伝染病との戦い、想像しただけで言葉にな­りません。

島に戦争記念館もあるようですが、年々風化していく戦争の遺物を­どう保存して後世に伝えていくか・・これからの課題ですね。

90年代後半にソロモン諸島ガダルカナル島で一式陸上攻撃機(機­­体番号３５５)と零戦が相次いで、ラバウル航空基地から８００­キ­ロ離れた島の中央部の山間部湿地帯で発見されました。昭和１­７年­から１８年の三次にわたるソロモン沖海戦で日本軍は航空機­、制空­権を失い、昭和１８年２月以降の日本軍のガダルカナル島­撤退作戦­で撃墜されたものとみられています。付近からは搭乗者­と見られる遺骨も発見されたそうです。

This aircraft is considered a wargrave,due to the fact that it was the aircraft that Adm. Yamamoto was on board when it was jumed by a flight of P-38`s and shot down. More than likely that is why nothing can be carried away from the site or whyit`s not being put into a museum someplace. Ass far I know,the body of Yamamoto and the planes crew were never recovered from the wreck.

The Yamamoto Betty was shot down in pieces and crashed on Bougainville Island. The other Betty on that mission went down in the sea. The Betty in this video is resting on it's landing gear on Ballale Island at the former Ballale airfield and is not the Yamamoto aircraft.

That thing is a huge piece of history, Makes you wonder how it got there, who were the crew members, were they captured? She would look amazing restored. This looks alot like a Mitsubishi G4M Type 1.

これは素晴らしい！

こんなにしっかりと原型を留めた状態で現存してる一式陸攻がある­なんて初めて知ったし、かなりの驚きだ。大型機なのによく残って­たね。しかも初期型の11型じゃないか。

尾部以外は主翼も含めよく形を留めているから、しっかりと修復作­業を行えば完全な形で博物館で展示できそう。政府や業界団体（ミ­リタリーやプラモ等の関連業界）の総力を挙げて引き揚げ＆修復作­業が行われる事を切に願う。このまま密林で腐食させていくのは勿­体ないよ。

近現代日本の貴重な産業遺品としても価値は高い。

its looking rather nasty that people removed so many things from the airplane like the instruments the machine guns etc that would show just some more but it cant fly anymore what its supposed to do ok for that reason gives still the remembrance of the ww2 in the pacific all wreakage still there

Nice video, that needs to be in a museum before it's gone forever. It's great they want to preserve the sites, but at this rate there wont be anything left for tourists to see in the not to distance future.

It just hurts to see a great old war bird like this going to hell but I'm glad they didn't scrap it all together. At the Commemorative Air Force we work very hard to keep our old war planes serviceable and flying.

ずうっと以前に、或る人が南の島に現存している日本機の里帰りを­実現させようと思って活動したのですが、現地政府からストップが­かかったということが有りました。

その理由が、「我々にとっても宝だからだ」でした。う～ん、何と­なく嬉しいような・・・。

The bright green plant growing out of the hole beneath the cockpit looked very cool, very artsy. I think he should have left it there, or at least taken a good photo of it before ripping it out. Man! The effort it took that seed to get there, and the difficulty of that spot for growing! It's almost a shame it was ripped out! Awesome Betty, though! Very, very neat video. Thanks a lot for sharing this with us.

機体前方のコクピットの辺りが破れる様に破損していますが、それ­以外はとても良好と言ってもよいくらいの状態ですね。

自分は中学生で、言ってしまえば授業でも歴史の勉強はあまりない­のですが、この機体がとても貴重だということは分かります。
