Err, umm, shouldn't only ONE of the wires (i.e. NEUTRAL) be white, with the separate hot wires for light and fan distinguished by non-white, non-green insulation? Expert Village--amateurs teaching the clueless, LOL.
Wow, watched again, and this j-box is CONTAMINATED with paint! Well, in my jurisdiction, that's TWO code violations. They DO make cheap plastic "rough out" covers for the boxes, specifically to address the spray paint scenario. A plastic grocery bag will work too. Better to prevent paint from getting on your high voltage NM-B/THWN insulators in the first place. ;')
This is tract-shack "workmanship" in action. Guess you're lucky it wasn't a TEXTURED ceiling, lol.
You would think a "Master Inspector" would know wtf the difference is between an 8/32 or 10/32.
Also, that box is hanging out of the ceiling about 1/2 an inch. Which means that the fan canopy is going to have a 1/2" gap at the top.
Nice work rookie. It's obvious that this guy has no idea what he is doing, and it is really not a good idea for him to be making videos. He is in no position to be teaching anything, especially electrical work.
In this segment, no he doesn't. This is a three part series, and in the first part he mentions that it is critical that the box be mounted to a structual element.
Yet another stupid, dangerous video from expert village. He has people doing this without explaining that this box has to mount to a joist or if it's on a cross-piece, you have to make sure the cross-piece is mounted securly to the joists. Many of these stupid videos on youtube are going to cause people to install fans that are going to fall on their head (or pet, child, whatever) one day
