ok there are obviously truths and falses with both your answers yes learning sheet music is the way to go for beginners but you still have to learn to tune using your ears that way you can play accurately in a band but for soloists its not as important
yeah your definitely right bout beethoven, but he wasn't completely deaf to a point where he couldn't hear any of his music, but yes he was fuckin luh-git, haha, but yeah there are definitely some factors that put him ahead of others, IQ, musical talent all that good stuff, good point though for sure.
i think "iblake" has a point, but needs to consider that you can still be a good musician if you use sheet music, tuning your ear is an aquired skill, you have to practice it.
Ive been playing piano for 9 years and Ive played in many competitions. I also play at a college level which is pretty good considering im a sophmore in highschool. Ive learned mostly by ear. So yea Its a good skill. some have it some dont. But very few Ive seen can train your ear at a later age to play by ear. Worth a shot though dont you think?
WRONG! If you went to buy sheet music you'd only use about $2 dollars or something. Plus his way of doing it is terrible compared to the real way. Using sheet msuic is the way to go. Using your ears is the LEAST accurate way to go if you even watched his video! It's terrible! =@
haha sorry man, but that's definately not true, for a beginner, the need for sheet music would be justified, but in music, your ears are without a doubt your most essential asset. But I would never rely on sheet music for coldplay, if the sheets aren't written by the composer, there's a good chance it's not accurate.
but yeah, with guitar, which is my main instrument, I've gotten to the point, where I can listen to a solo, and determine how to play it, as well as what position and what strings it was played on, just by the sound.
uh, that's great, but your wrong, you can go wrong with sheet music, that's the whole point, the people that manufacture sheet music are companies, moneymakers, business men, they don't make sheet music for you to learn the song they make it to make money, that's why half the time the sheet music is wrong, it's bullshit, learning by ear is with out a doubt the most accurate way to learn music, it's common sense, you get mistakes with sheet music because it's not made to be perfect, just to be ma
um I am not talking about learning songs like this I am talking about playing in an ensemble and yes most sheet music for rock songs and pop songs are bullshit but for those who are just learning they shouldn't learn by ear simply because when you play in large bands it will throw you off and it is especially true with key changes (jazz music mostly) so were both right
i'd actually have to agree, but he or she did "ok" if it was just by ear, and it really comes down to how long they've been doin piano and stuff. but in the long run it really isnt that great + a couple of mistakes i couldnt do better but thts wht i think
Luv this song ... so any attempt to play it is applauded. BTW, I used part of this song on "A Coldplay in San Diego". If u want 2 take a look at that video, would appreciate ur feedback
Good attempt, certainly better than I could do, keep up the practise :)

Sheet music is for people who don't have good ears. Good chefs don't need recipes, good musicians don't need sheet music.

I like that. I guess I need to train my ears more, cause I use a lot of sheet music LOL.

I definitely agree man, save money, and train your ears is the most accurate way to learn music.
