never bottle beer like that use a bottle filler there cheap. not to mention filling bottles in that fashion introduces oxygen in the beer , which is very bad. oxygen should only be added before fermentaion begins
Thanks for the video. I have a couple questions. When you add the corn sugar to carbonate the brew that has been fermenting for six days or so, do you pour it right in with the brew? It looks like you poured it into another empty bucket in the video. You mentioned a "carboy." What's that?
Can I use plastic bottles with screw tops? Like soda bottles? I don't care about the aesthetics of bottles because I like beer from a glass.
yes, you add it to the brew directly after it has finished fermenting and you are ready to bottle. shake it around for about one minute and then you're ready to bottle.
no, do not use plastic or use screw top bottles. always use glass and pop off bottles. get yourself a bottler from a brewing place and start collecting bottles (not screw tops though).
for the sake of the video i condensed the process, but in reality, i will ferment in a glass carboy, then do secondary fermentation in the plastic bucket with the spigot, pour the priming liquid with that and then bottle straight from the spigot bucket.
"Like so".. dump! lol. Good video. Thank you.

You forgot to mention sanitizing the beercaps. A brew can go bad by that aswell. Other wise, pretty solid video. Everything people need to know.

is there still yeast at the bottom of the bottles and if so is it best to filter the brew before bottling it?

as long as you can cap them securely so no air gets in the bottles you are fine. what kind of bottles are you thinking...like Chimay or what?

What temperature do you keep the bottles at? How long does it take to carbonate? Thanks, great vid.
eyevahn 3 years ago
best to keep it at room temperature and away from the sun. keeping it in the closet is a good idea. it should take about 2 weeks to carbonate.
dcasuto 3 years ago
Did you use only the bucket with the spigot to ferment and bottle your beer?
And after you ferment it you used the same bucket to prime it for carbonation right?
I mean all in one bucket or you used 2 buckets?
