NO! This was almost a year ago. I sure hope it's not happening again. I know a lot of people have incorrect sub counts the past few days but I don't think it's this problem again. I don't know what's going on. Everytime I test it now, the subscriptions are working fine. But then, I am noticing my count and others going wacky. I really don't know what's going on or what the cause of it is just yet.
I found the bug weeks prior. I started asking around to get emails for YouTube staff since the ones I had only gave me automated replies. I believe that sopmeone has access to one of the YouTube emails, because that is the only place I revealed the bug. As soon as I sent those messages, it started happening to my subscribers... but not me.

The more people who know about this better. what happens is it becomes a big enough pain in the ass for YT to have to fix it, instead of ignore you like they have done.
YouTube also needs to fix another problem: The creation of fake or dummy accounts with the sole purpose to spamming videos. One solution might be one YT account per e-mail address and/or one account per IP address. That way we would know who the user is when he/she writes what they write. No more hiding behind anonymity. If they want to write something negative, sexist, hateful, fine just back up your views with your real identity.
A little bitch just hit me with it but I was kinda hoping for that as it allowed me to figure out a theory on how to catch out those who use the bug on you.
Turn on subscriber notification and cross check the people who subscribed to you with the people they're subbed to, and you can figure out who did it to you.
with that they're literaly at your mercy for you to rip into
Renetto, Lisanova, and Daxflame were all losing subs.. now they are back to normal but no one else is fixed yet.. YouTube needs to stop being such dumbasses..
you can do these even faster: click unsubscribe, click back button, click unsubscribe, click back button, repeat until 0 - let's try it on Lisa Nova's channel

4chan . org is responsible for the subscription bug where it shows people only have 1 subscrber when they really have alot. They just subscribe and unsuscribe and it exploits a bug where the person loses a subscriber each time. They call themselves anynomous and they have like 5 different sites 4chan . org 7chan 420chan . They attack popular youtubers with hate/spam/hacks/phising sites/messages and more. they call themselves hackers but hey are mostly emo internet kids

4chan and 7chan . org are the sites that are the main contributors to using this method to lower the subscribers. Check them out if you don't believe me. They are always talking about on their /b/ section.
I made a video naming the people who have done this to me and my friends not sure if thats allowed, but its a dedication to the stupid people who are going around exploiting this bug.

Perhaps now something will finally be done, since it's affected some of the most visible YouTubers. Whoever is doing this crap needs to get a life, or lives in case it's more than one person behind the shenanigans.

Yes, the counts will be fixed, and everybody should see that even had more than they thought! Unless you were one to actually count by going to "my account", you could have been wrong in how many subs you actually had to begin with.
Had 1504 subs, now down to 964. Thanks for making this video. It was reassuring to me because I feel like I'm not the only one. If YT gets their act together and does something about it, it seems it can be fixed.

one good thing about the bug...it keeps the trolls and sockpuppets pre-occupied in meaningless activities instead of actively spamming and 1-starring everybody. since the person getting hit can still see all of their subscribers, even though we can't, and their standings in the overall rankings aren't affected, it's truely a complete waste of time. it's time to ignore them along with the bug and just move on...
I got that stupid bug yesterday. I had around 330 subscribers, I got the count to go up a a little bit, but yea. It still took down my subscribers count.

BillyJulio: I figured I had to at least make people work to hear the bug. I have found that most abusive people have short attention spans and would give up watching, leaving the bug known to mostly intelligent, moral people.
I tried this a couple of days ago on my other account and it was as you said. Just tried it AGAIN and today it isn't doing it. I even got 2 emails when I re-subbed...which never used to happen.
positivesue: we tested this and the bug is still there, with no emails. Maybe you happened to catch a time when they were testing. I'll check again tomorrow.
Just discovered something. The time it worked properly was when I unsubbed and re-subbed to THIS account...when I do it the other way round, that is when the number doesn't go back up....so it must mean it doesn't happen on ALL accounts
I tested the bug, and it definitely works. There's an interesting side effect, though, that no-one may have noticed yet. For every subscribe/unsubscribe that you do, it also reduces your own subscription count by one. Interesting...
Browser macro? Whatever. But I must point out that it IS permanent. Recovering all subscription counts would mean MASSIVE database selection for every user. Youtube will not do it.

But if this bug has been here all along, people could have a lot more subscribers than they actually think, because that number's really all we have to go on.

You are very right. When I first discoverd it I had found that just about everybody's sub counts were wrong.

one good thing about the bug...it keeps the trolls and sockpuppets pre-occupied in meaningless activities instead of actively spamming and 1-starring everybody. since the person getting hit can still see all of their subscribers, even though we can't, and their standings in the overall rankings aren't affected, it's truely a complete waste of time. it's time to ignore them along with the bug and just move on...

I got that stupid bug yesterday. I had around 330 subscribers, I got the count to go up a a little bit, but yea. It still took down my subscribers count.

Nope same result , I guess somhow I got blocked from posting on your channel but If I block someone they cant post on my vids also though it is two differant settings .

BillyJulio: I figured I had to at least make people work to hear the bug. I have found that most abusive people have short attention spans and would give up watching, leaving the bug known to mostly intelligent, moral people.

I tried this a couple of days ago on my other account and it was as you said. Just tried it AGAIN and today it isn't doing it. I even got 2 emails when I re-subbed...which never used to happen.

Just discovered something. The time it worked properly was when I unsubbed and re-subbed to THIS account...when I do it the other way round, that is when the number doesn't go back up....so it must mean it doesn't happen on ALL accounts

Well, it could mean that the update is gradually happening as to not slow the site down. Let's give it some time.

I tested the bug, and it definitely works. There's an interesting side effect, though, that no-one may have noticed yet. For every subscribe/unsubscribe that you do, it also reduces your own subscription count by one. Interesting...

Browser macro? Whatever. But I must point out that it IS permanent. Recovering all subscription counts would mean MASSIVE database selection for every user. Youtube will not do it.
