Slouching shoulders becomes a habit that you may not correct. It takes a whole new look at life to lift and pull back one's shoulders. One has to go thru a litany of changes to finally find that lengthening the spine and freeing the neck is the principle way to change for the better. Balancing one's head on top of the free neck. Alignment of the spine and neck is key.
This was excellent! I had just been looking up Alexander Technique and other posture videos - these "tricks" helped all of my body feel balanced when the others hadn't been able to! The other ones started with hips, which left my head and neck sort of in an unknown zone of confusion, or started with the head and neck which just seemed to leave me feeling like I had a double chin. Thanks Mary, I just posted this on facebook and I hope my friends and family will try it out as well!
Melissa: Feeling the difference is the first step. Your habits change as you practice feeling the new sensation while brushing your teeth, driving, typing, walking, etc. In time your brain learns to prefer the new sensation in your shoulders because it's more powerful and efficient.
