@DELTA38g I'm sorry but I think English dubs for Japanese anime are just as good. They are professional voice actors and actresses, just like the people in Japan. Maybe they put alot of emotion in it, so do us. But that's no reason to dis every single English dub. They are people, too. It also depends on the studio a lot of times too. FMA was wonderfully done. Ponyo on the other hand.
@ Megatroll. I totally disagree with your "credibility stance/rage issue". If you remember the final scene of the original movie, the claw on the tank (my opinion) was exerting at least three times the pressure on her head than the power-armor's foot. Also, this is a full, top of the line military cybernetic body. Not something you'd get at best buy or the black market. Let me step on your head and we'll see if you wouldn't shoot me multiple times at point blank range!!!
@Section9Wannabe I agree with you on that, the fact that her braincase is made out of titanium for gods sake means she can take one hell of a hit to the head and keep on ticking. That and she is just a bad ass.
Hey u can go out to buy or download this series find the season and episode get the scene and upload it and fight with the copyright people to get it posted if you would like.
That was definitely the most pathetic scene of season 1.
Apart from the fact that her head should have been crushed (even in the future, there is no metal construction in the world that could withstand such high pressure) she totally lost all cridibility with that ridiculous rage scene... :P
@JonPanganiban Ghost in the Shell is one of the few anime's that get close to the amount of emotion the original Japanese voices have. But in general, they can never get close. Nice try.
@Nilani There are always exceptions, but most Japanese female voice actors sound the exact same and most of the time they don't convey realistic emotions as well as good American actors. I'll admit that English dub is bad for the non-popular animes, but when the better animes are translated, and good English voice actors are hired (since the better animes can afford better actors), it'll be the best you can find anywhere.
@JonPanganiban I.. can't argue that. You're absolutely right =) I think mine is just a personal preference, now that I think about it. That and japanese women sound cute =P
@Nilani Haha, yeah they do sound pretty cute, though my biggest problem with watching subs is that I can't focus on the animation and read at the same time.
I saw the episode and could understand why she is so enraged, and thank god her body has a military class combat class brain case. Otherwise her head would have been crushed
@zingtea I honestly dont know, but the first time I saw the episode I was afraid her brai case was going to crack, considering that's a lot of preasure even for a military brain case.
My favorite song, coupled with the major firing a presumably-.50 cal sniper rifle at point blank with only one arm. Most definitely the best scene in GITS:SAC.
Probably my Favorite Scene from GIT:SAC, just the pure raw fury from the Major made it awesome. After all, the guy in the suit was responsible for massacring half a dozen + civilians, wounding Togusa, drugging her boss, and trying to kill her. I know I'd be pretty ticked. Not to mention the writers using the natural muzzle rise from the weapon as a point was brilliant.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Heartless nothing. If you proceed to fire at someone after they have surrendered, you've crossed the line. In this case she's downright sadistic. The guy was already down and willing to get out of his suit and surrender and she proceeds to shoot him several times to the point he could barely breath. As for her arm, she could get it replaced.
@EvilCleric Its all well and good to hold to that ideal in happy fiction. The real world isn't so kind though. The man in question is a guy who like said, injured many people she knew, killed numerous civilians, and would have gotten away with it scott free due to working for a government organization.
Plus, in reality, and in situations like this one, surrender means nothing. Those who surrender can easily come back and kill you when you do not have an army or represent a country.
You do realize that if you continue to shoot someone whose surrendered in the real world that it's considered a war crime right? Oh don't try to justify shooting someone by saying that it doesn't work like that in the real world because in the real world, if you pull a stunt like that, a court-martial is the last thing you need to worry about.
@EvilCleric Indeed, it is a very bad thing to do when you are a regular in a military or a similar organization. However, when you and your group have already been deemed unnecessary or dangerous and are going to be targeted for destruction anyway, it doesn't exactly matter if you do something at that point that would land you in trouble.
The only issue is whether or not your conscious and those of your team can allow such a thing or not at this point.
If your team has already been deemed unnecessary or dangerous killing prisoners is gonna make the situation even worse as they'll start to see you in the same light as many of the worst terrorist organizations and that will bring the hammer down on your head far harder.
@EvilCleric Gouda has manipulated the situation such that she and her team have been disavowed and targeted for elimination by a black ops wetwork team. The results of this operation will never see the light of day and any actions taken here by the attackers will be denied or similarly disavowed - perhaps you missed the pilot of the power suit attempting to crush her brain on the street.
They didn't ask her to surrender. She's not asking, either.
Unfortunetley in the real world people aren't perfect, and if they were it wouldn't be interesting.
When people's friends and allies have almost been shot to death (Togusa and to a lesser extent Bato) and then almost killed themselves, people pass straight by the point of reasonable force.
The whole point of this scene was to show the normally calm Major completely losing all sense of constraint.
Exactly right. This situation is off the books on both sides. Section 9 already operated in sketchy legal territory, and the black ops unit sent to deal with them is probably operating under similar orders. Furthermore, "war crimes" are only relevant when you're dealing with two countries fighting each other. This is an internal matter, and would only be subject to whatever laws Japan had that addressed the two sides - likely none, given that both are black/grey ops teams.
Two countries fighting each other, or otherwise acting in wartime, anyway, such as when an army, acting in an official capacity, steps over the line. That's not the case for either side here, so war crimes are irrelevant. And that's even assuming that the UN still gives a crap about those in GITS, after two more world wars and the US has become a fully-fledged empire.
dude, this is cool, but NOT the standard issue big gun. that was from the origional movie when batou takes down a tank with one shot to protect kusunagi
