The facts are not fiction- On average, the better off economically the neighborhood a school exists in is , the better the chance of a child getting a good- to- great education . Compared to the typically poorer education that is usually attained in a poor neighborhood, the better education costs
It seems to me if we need to lead the World in Engineering we need Engineering Jobs in our economy--but you first would need Manufacturing here in the USA (that Dog quit hunting when manufacturers farmed out their jobs to foreign countries )If we need to lead the World in unemployment we need just Two and a half more years of Obama care lack -of-job creationism plus if those who voted for Obama last election can leave their brains at home again to vote for him in 2012)
While the Mandarin High School in Jacksonville Florida discontinued All pre-engineering drafting /autocad , graphic arts, and higher level arts courses and added "medical academy " courses and increased the schools english, math, and sciences capacity-- however , continuing to teach hygiene -health-nutrition courses at the High school level, espec. while feeding them the kind of meals they do in the cafeteria, (e.g. cheeseburger or chikburger w/ greasy fries and apple) is very wasteful
You can't equitably compare even Democratic Socialist selectivist primary schools with a free Republic system of primary education( one that is teaching every child that is K through 12). On the other hand, the school Administration in my opinion has execution problems- for instance, Twin Lakes Junior High School Jacksonville Florida also are forcing some 8th grade students to take Spanish against their will , claiming scheduling conflicts - they do not allow choosing electives at thisschool
Eleanor is so off base. She doesn't ever seem to know what she is talking about. I'm a teacher and I work 12, 14 and 16 hour days. I'm currently working on lesson plans, and have been for the last 3 weeks. Seven out of my 10 weeks of summer is spent on school work. When does she think teachers got off at 3, or summers. Obviously she doesn't know what she's talking about, and anyone who thinks that teachers can work harder should try to do it themselves. One month will teach anyone differently.
helllo if you pay based on grades isnt that a conflict of interest what the hell... isnt that just incentive bs curriculum and grades???? of course its nonsense think people
I don't think Eleanor really understands how serious the teenage unemployment situation is. If teens can't find jobs & work their way through college, they might have to DROP OUT of college and take on any cheap job they can get, or join the Armed Forces, just to survive. Then, when they can save some money, they'll go back to college. They'll have to wait a few years to get a college diploma. But if they are lucky enough to graduate in a few years, what will their job opportunities look like?!
work your way through college haha... how the hell do you learn working and going to school full time thats ridiculous... teens need to be educated and lead into worthwhile careers not lead into sweatshop colleges where they work hard at job and school then end up with worthless degree... wake up people
This is LAME! and to think I have to do this for my hot history teacher?! God its sooooo LAMMEEEE!!!!!

@herbsta420 It's hard to go to college full time and have a part-time job, but people do it and they graduate.

I like the "new" guy for Pat.
I never knew John McLaughlin was a teacher. That would be one intimidating History class.
